has anybody tried clinique before? i tried it a long time ago, they're quite ok, 3 simple steps, cleanse, tone and moisturise.
now i'm using olay micro sculpting creme for moisturiser

I used Clinique 3 Steps for almost a year and there is really nothing special about it. A waste of money if u ask me because u can get similar products from the pharmacy for a fraction of the cost. Right now I am using Shiseido Men range of products and they have been working great for me. 3 times a week I use the Olay Regenerist Serum as a nighttime moisturizer. The Regenerist serum n moisturizers are packed with powerful anti aging ingredients and one ingredient in particular called Niacinamide is good for acne among other benefits. The only thing I dislike about Regenerist products is the strong fragrance that lingers for quite a while. There are fragrance free versions but only available overseas.

Nivea Men products are actually quite good and way better than other brands like L'Oreal Men and Garnier Men. The Nivea Men scrub is one of the star products. But don't expect miracles la when using Nivea Men...it's cheap and does a good job as a basic cleanser.

I use Origins products...

Although mostly for women but I think it's unisex

Their Check & Balances face wash is very nice to use, never felt dry/oily after wash and have a fresh lemony smell. I like it cause it lathers up and the feeling is good.  biggrin.gif

Their products last very long as well, I brought one 250 ml face wash @ RM 100 and lasted for 8 months (washing twice a day), so it's like RM 12.50 per month, which is cheap.

I also use their toners and moisturizers as well. Origins is one of the best skin care products  in the market thumbup.gif

While I am a fan of Shiseido Men products, I too agree Origins products are top class. Currently me and my gf are both using the Out of Trouble Mask and so far it is working really well.

ooo i see ur still lurking around wahahhaa.. this was my trap to bring u out again lol.. hey how did the diacneal work out for u?
*
Damm I took the bait haha.

Diacneal is working well for me but I'm a product whore so my constant experimenting of new products has given me some severe breakouts this past month. But things have calmed down and my face is looking better once more haha. Right now I use Panoxyl 5% in the day and Diacneal at night. So far this combo is working really well for me but it's a little drying especially at night.

How about u ? Last I remember u said that Diacneal wasn't working for u.

Anyone here have oily skin??

How do you guys reduce the oiliness.. do you use toner only? or oil-free moisturizer? does it work?

my face gets oily every 2 hours and keep using oil blotting sheets to remove the oil... sad.gif

how to achieve that matte appearance without using oil blotting sheets??
*
I've got oily skin too and the nose area is especially oily. I do understand how irritating it is to have oily skin. I been trying all sorts of products both cheap and expensive to reduce shine and I almost gave up until I discovered this product from Biore. It is seriously good as my face remains matte for the whole day (Even my nose). All I need to do is blot during lunch and i'm good to go. The product doesn't really stop oil from coming out but the powders in the sunscreen will absorb the oil and give a matte appearance. But the Biore sunscreen may not be suitable for those with dark skin as it lightens up the skin a bit. Btw its available in almost all pharmacies for RM25 (30ml). I been using this for 2 months now and did not suffer fr any side affects.

Toners/astringents I feel is a waste of time and money as it only dries up the skin. Dry skin = more oil. I use a toner/moisturizer combo product from Shiseido Men called the Hydrating Lotion. It's really light but soothes and hydrates my oily skin well.

Agreed man. I think my bro used it for a month and threw it away because the fragrance was overly strong and dried up his skin badly.

At Shiseido Counter it's RM95 for 125ml. If used sparingly one tube can last 4-5 months.

I have not tried Sothys before but a weeks ago they were promoting their starter packs in Empire Gallery Subang. IIRC the starter kit was RM150 or less. But generally their products are really expensive and exclusive. I don't think I'll ever pay that much lo.

U got to resist the dark side haha. I've not gone for any facials before so I won't know.

But im sure they will try to psycho u by saying ur face is this and that problem. All sorts of marketing BS. I rather read reviews online and decide on my own (thru trial and error most of the time) what is good for me.

I subscribed to the William Martins membership coz can get 5-10% discounts on products. Unfortunately for me their product range very limited nowadays (business not good I think). They offer a lot of promos for facials and now it's not only for men edi...ladies also they cater to.

It helps against acne somewhat and do quite a good job reducing pore size. But it doesn't really lighten scars. U need a different type of product to lighten scars.

jonny, did you ever get the Shiseido Total Revitalizer? was thinking of adding this to my routine but the price is abit steep, if it can last at least 3 months of daily use then maybe i'd consider it. right now i'm just using hydrating lotion, it's good at preventing breakouts but my skin has lost it's glow, so i'm thinking bout usin hydrating only in the day while some repair cream at night.
*
I did buy the trial pack that came with a 15ml Total Revitalizer (TR). It's a heavier version of the moisturizing emulsion that is great as a night cream. I a bit sayang want to use coz so lil so I use it only 3 times a week at night. It's actually a good idea to use the hydrating lotion only in the day...that is what im doing for the past 4 months. At night when I don't use TR i'll use the moisturizing emulsion.

But I don't think I will buy the full size TR when my 15ml finishes. RM270 for 50ml is seriously too much for me and moreover I've found a better product in Olay Regenerist Serum. It has a lot more ingredients compared to TR and a fraction of the price. when got sale can get for RM60 for 50ml. It is light and even has ingredients that help fight against acne even though it is not marketed as an anti acne cream. I will apply the Olay first then only moisturizer at night.

Anyone here plays in the sun a lot and has some good tips for face care? From the products to use before and after sun exposure to anything related tongue.gif
*
Use a high protection sunscreen (SPF50) with good UVA and UVB filters. If your skin tone is not too dark, try getting a sunscreen with a combo of chemical (Tinosorb, mexoryl and helioplex...these 3 r patented names) and physical blockers (zinc oxide and titanium oxide). Apply sunscreen 15-30mins b4 sun exposure and reapply often. If u r using a waterproof sunscreen/high protection/japanese sunscreen u will need to use a cleansing oil to remove the sunscreen from your face.

Any good brands to recommend? The only one i can find in most golf shops is Ocean potion. I'm using banana boat at the moment. My skin used to be fair but now it's gotten so tanned and looks dark because of playing too much of golf in the sun. I made a mistake by not putting sunscreen at the earlier years. After reading about skin cancer, that's when i started using sunblock.  tongue.gif

I saw your reply in another thread about the cleansing oil. Are these soapy products to remove to layer?
*
Nowadays when it comes to sunscreen u can either go for the matte non shiny/oily Japanese types or the heavier/oilier European types. Japs type normally has lesser protection (even though SPF50) compared to Euro type. Examples of Jap brands are Biore (my fav), Sunplay and Shiseido. Biore is my pick coz its cheap, decent protection and controls oil/shine very well. As for Euro type the consensus is that La Roche Posay is the best in terms of protection and finish but is unfortunately not available here. Avene is the next best option. American sunscreens are generally really primitive in formulation and most are unstable (protection wise) so keep away. But Neutrogena with Helioplex is regarded as among the better American ones. I use Biore Perfect Face Milk for my face and Neutrogena Dry Touch for my body.

Sunscreen won't stop u from getting darker or tan. It just reflects the harmful radiation from the sun. One mistake a lot of guys make is not using sunscreen. Investing in high end skincare but ignoring use of sunscreen is plain foolish IMO especially in a country like ours that's so close to the equator. I was one of them LOL.

Cleansing oil is oil with emulsifying agents and other ingredients. Basically cleansing oil is applied to dry skin with dry hands and massaged into face. After a few mins of massaging water is added and the cleansing oil emulsifies and becomes white (like milk). Your face will be quite clean after that. I usually follow up with my regular cleanser. It was really weird using oil to wash my face at first as I have oily skin but it works for me and my breakouts are less haha.

Hi guys, I am hoping for some advice regarding skin care. I'm using a Cetaphil washing cream as my face wash and I am using a Ginvera scrub.

I have oily skin (my friends say I 'shine' under light sad.gif) and have quite a few scars on the side of my forehead. I'm hoping for recommendations on products that could fix me up.

Any recommendations on scrubs? Also could I do with a toner and/or moisturizer for my face?

Thanks
*
Cetaphil is world renown as a good gentle cleanser so I think u shud stick to that. As long as the scrub ain't too harsh it should be fine but t shouldn't be too fine either. As long as ur skin feels nice n smooth without breakouts after using the scrub den it shud be alright edi.

There are various kinds of anti oil/shine products in the market for men and women. I have tried quite a few and sad to say none really work as good as Biore Perfect Milk sunscreen. I can go through almost the whole day with out using a facial blotting sheets if I have the Biore on.

I say skip the toner because it's a waste of money and the alcohol can potentially irritate ur skin. Just cleanse, sunscreen and moisturize enuf edi. As for moisturizer...wat is ur budget and how often u get breakouts ?

Anyone here trying to keep a beard or moustache and realizes there's more pimples? I mean when i shave cleanly i dont really see any pimples!

Is it related in any way? tongue.gif
*
U got to have a proper face care routine if u wan to grow a beard or moustache. A lot of dirt and oil will get stuck between the hairs and if u r acne prone things will get worse. Try exfoliating with a gentle scrub a few times a week to get rid of the dirt stuck between the hairs. A few years ago I suffered the same prob as u when I was trying to grow a mouthstache. Nowadays I exfoliate my face often and i hardly get any pimples around the mouthstache/beard area. But being able to grow a mouthstache is a diff prob altogether LOL.

Yea i suspected the oil and dirt thing. The face gets oily after long hours. Pimples could also be cause by food intake right?

I did not shave for a week, trying to see how i will look.  tongue.gif

Just trimmed the facial hair near the moustache and goatee area a little coz it feels to long compared to the sides. Now im looking for a style to follow.

Btw, is there any trimmer just to trim the facial hair? I have a electronic shaver but it can't trim.  sad.gif

Moderation when it comes to food and everything else in life will help la with the pimples. For some reason whenever I have fast food, I will get a few pimples.

I can't comment on facial hair styles bro as i'm struggling over here in growing a decent looking beard.

My friend uses a Braun electric razor and with various attachments and settings he is able to maintain that scruffy 5 0'clock shadow look all the time. I'll ask him about when I meet up with him and i'll pm u d details.
