open cans are generally cans that are believed to sound better, a lot high end cans are open, HD6XX, rs1/2,HD8xx, GS1000. its believed with it being open, there will be better vibration tthus better sound

however closed cans do offer its own qualities, isolation and sound leakage are its concerns. open cans are literally speakers on both sides of the headphone (in and out) closed are not, thus it will disturb anyone near you.

isolation is also a factor, open cans tend to leak sound in too. if someone is talking loudly you can hear it and so on.

ah i see..

well, 'm looking for a headphone around 200 - 250, smthg decent..

i usually listen to rap, r&b, instrumentals, a bit of pop, n i love bass that aint hard or dead..

esp love da sound of guitar plucking like the older secondhand serenade songs..

anyway recommendations?

willing to stretch to rm300 if da extra buck is worth it..

I'm just saying that sometimes people would rather go for the design rather than functionality. You'd be surprised how they are willing to spend extra money just on looks.

Haha, that certainly sounds like me xD Design is as crucial as the functions IMO, I'll nvr get smth ugly no matter how useful it is tongue.gif

You’re not alone my friend. laugh.gif

Take me for example. I chose Quattro over Bijou because I like Quattros design better and it came with the color red.

Plus, the selectable bass port is really worth the extra buck.
