Hi,
I just got myself a Denon AVR-1709 as a budgeted replacement for my now dead Onkyo TX-DS939 (13 years old) a few hours ago and still sitting in the box right now.
It is going to drive my existing 13 year old Definition Technology Mark II bipolar main, surround, center and active subwoofer.
Since my 42" Samsung plasma does not have any HDMI input but only a DVI and I am going to use a DVI/HDMI convertor. Would there be any issue and I am planning for something like this.
Input - Astro - Composite Video / Analog Audio Right & Left HTPC - DVI -> HDMI ------- Denon AVR-1709 - Optical Cable SPIF out to Denon
Output Denon --> HDMI -> DVI --- Samsung Plasma.
Would this work and I can only test tomorrow because I forgot to get the 2 HDMI Cable.
I paid RM1399/= got it from Desa HT in Lowyat.

Hi,
Just setup my Denon AVR-1709 and doing the Auto Setup with the supplied microphone, I get his message at the end
Caution: Phase S L/R
What does this meant.

QUOTE(dayalan86 @ Jul 6 2009, 03:48 PM) Probably you connected the "+"ve and "-"ve terminals wrongly at the amp side or at the speaker side. Basically it means out of phase. dayalan86, Thanks for input, I had check and the polarity looks correct. Then I RTFM and it is stated that some speakers has this issue and if I am sure I can proceed to "skip". Hehe... what this meant is that l should "R T F M" . But the manual is not that friendly. Also after reading that manual it stated that Analog Video cannot be output to HDMI Digital. So that meant that I have to switch between DVI (HDMI converted) and AV on my Samsung plasma when I use my HTPC and Astro. Looks like my wife is not too happy about this, any suggestion for a single video output. jackdon
