QUOTE(kinkeet @ Feb 16 2009, 08:27 PM)
can order a sunglass with power? price? i dun wan to wear contact lens with sunglass..
*
Of course you can... the price of the lens will depend on how high your power is! Also, the sunglasses should not be too curved as you cannot fit in powered lenses in too curved sunglasses! tongue.gif

Hey Locozz, wow, so many questions to answer here. Maybe we could discuss all of them in detail through PM! tongue.gif

Anyway, HOYA suntint series is great, and they have a great choice of colours as well! The darker tinted ones would actually give you less reflection colour, but I understand what you mean by that greenish hue to it tends to give. It's actually part of the multi-coat which is beneficial!

Mirror coating / iridium coating/ mercury coating. These are extra coatings together with polarize coat is actually available.. but because of their prices, people are not bothered to even consider them. The problem with using cheap coatings is they peel of easily and hence become really ugly. Anyway, if any of you is really interested in mirror/iridium coating, you can always look for me.

In regards to your question, for sure Carl Zeiss has transition among their range. To be honest, you'll pay more for a carl zeiss when Hoya or Essilor is good enough. These brands have smudge resistance, scratch, blablabla resistance among their options. Lets face it, in Malaysia, these are the 2 most reliable and top brands and I only recommend them to all my customers. If you want Carl Zeiss, it wont be a problem looking for them.. but that's just if you have spare change to offer in my humble opinion! smile.gif

Guys, Need a recommendation for sunglasses with Rx Insert..
*
Depending on how high your power is, you can easily make the power shades anywhere. I can help you make them as well. But if your power is too high, the lenses will be too thick and it wont look good/fit. So try searching for shades which are not so curved! smile.gif

QUOTE(Kelv @ Feb 26 2009, 10:27 PM)
Is it the one when in outdoor, it will look darken, but when indoor, it just look like normal specs?
What's it call?
*
Their called transitions/photochromic/light adaptive.. different brands use different names. All the same! smile.gif

yo you do know there are the rb classic lines right? open your eyes and find them.. im sure you've not even tried..
*
I've to agree with eggtart though.. Rb 3310 is really old and I doubt you'll find it. Even if you do find it out there, it will be because it's old stock and cant be sold! tongue.gif

Just my 2 cents! Oh by the way, there's SO many different raybans so if one is not available, there's plenty that looks alike! That's the uniqueness about Rayban!

then u'll need to get presrciption sunglasses, might be hard to get nice styles.
*
Well not really.. could retrofit prescription lenses into the sunglasses, so most can be done. But then if there's serious myopia, then the lenses would be much thicker especially if it has a high base curve.

I've done power lenses for customers with power of -6.00 to -7.00 on base 6 curves like Oakley Whiskers! smile.gif

Can I get some pasar malam shades, knock off the lens and replace it with quality stuff? tongue.gif
*
LoL! What a weird idea.. sure you can.. but what's the point? The paintwork will be low quality as well.. it'll be off in no time. Plus, it's gonna be low quality material also. Gosh... just get an original pair! It's surely gonna last you a long long time! tongue.gif

LOL! All sunglasses reduces glare, and the glare is usually from sunlight.

Polarized sunglasses reduces EXTRA glare of sunlight from flat/smooth surface. Hence, it provides additional glare reduction. The article explains it well smile.gif

guys I'm using shades that I bought from Royal Sporting House. Its Australian brand called Skyline. Anyone heard of it? IMO its pretty good. RM 80 . was wondering are there any side effects
*
Skyline's quite polular for their wear-over shades. Was it a wear over shade you bought?

Nah, Rm 80 with polarized feature is a pretty good deal, and it should be safe cause I think the lenses gives 100% UV protection! smile.gif

I was just wondering, how much does the replacement lenses for the oakley half jacket cost? The polarized lenses cost around 70 to 80 USD$..
*
Prices on the oakley website and the prices in Malaysian retail is totally different. Polarized lenses have recently shot up in price, so expect quite a fair bit for it. smile.gif

Extremely difficult to find I can assure you, 99.99% you wont be able to get it! tongue.gif

It was fine with vigorous activities for nearly 3 years +. I thought of trying to put elephant glue first since it's quite minor. If that fails, new lens.  cry.gif
*
It's probably due to constant pressure effect on the middle over the 3 years.. since it's a once piece anyway, the force was probably directed to the middle. New one piece lenses are expensive, that's if you can even find someone willing to take them in for you. IMHO, start looking for a new pair! smile.gif

1) yes you could differentiate between bad and good sunglasses, the frame of bad sunglasses are usually not rigid, the entire construction of the pair feels "cheap" and as though they will easily break with a little force.. bad lenses do not provide any UV protection from sunlight which can cause problems, see the first post on that..

2) im not familiar with hoya glasses.. is it a glasses brand or a shop name?
*
Bro, HOYA lenses are one of the leading and most famous brand for lenses in Malaysia! It's surprising you havent heard about them! tongue.gif

Bro, I know why! You dont use prescription lenses! HOYA specializes prescription lenses. You're lucky to have perfect vision! smile.gif

QUOTE(silverwave @ May 16 2009, 12:46 PM)
Does this same company make filter lenses for SLR camera? There is Hoya for camera filters but i'm not sure if it's the same.

Yup, it's the same company. Most other companies do the same thing, make lenses for camera and specs. Eg Nikon, Carl Zeiss, etc

alright. so no one here can help me with HOYA-related question?
*

In regards to lenses, there's plenty of lenses available in the market. For example, HOYA, ESSILOR, CARL ZEIS, other non-branded lenses, locally made lenses, etc.

Those in caps are among the top brand for lenses. There's plenty of advantage getting these lenses and they offer very much higher quality in terms of it's protection and coatings. So of course I would recommend people to use the good lenses for the good of their eyes. I mean, if you're willing to spend on looks (frames), then surely you should invest in something GOOD for your eyes (lenses)! smile.gif

Hmm , is it true that adidas sunglasses are not that reliable?
I'm looking for something lies in the range of Rm 150-250..
Any recommedation? sports type or casual I don't mind..
Thanks
*
In what sense do you say it's unreliable?

Their sunglasses IMHO are fair, as I've used one sporty one during my high school for numerous occasions, sporty occasions most often. Until today they look fine, just that all the rubber parts have cracked and became old it cant be used anymore. But that's a normal ageing process I believe.

For the price of Rm 150-200, you really cant be looking at any big brands like Oakley or Rayban. Probably an unbranded pair. There's plenty out there! smile.gif

May i know who's the local distributor for Ray-Ban? can share the link for the company website? thx
*
Sima Marketing is the SOLE importer of Raybans in Malaysia. I get my stock from them, so there's no doubt about it's authenticity. There are plenty of parallels out there, but most mix fakes with originals, so people wouldn't know. And the others dont offer the standard 1 year manufacturer's warranty. So Sima's Raybans are definitely the way to go.

QUOTE(adren1 @ Jun 22 2009, 10:39 PM)
Quick question, which shop in KL should i go if i wanted to get rayban sunglasses and have many choices of rayban range/model.
*
You can easily browse around any establish optical stores like Focus Point, England optical, Paris miki etc at large shopping centres like Mid-valley, paviallion etc where they have a LARGE variety of sunglasses to choose from. In terms of choices, there's no better than these shops. In terms of prices though, it may not be the best smile.gif
