I'm going to get the 8Gb iphone from america.
There should be no problem using here with Maxis, right?

what else do i need to know about the purchase?

You will have problem using it with Maxis as there is no unlocked unit from the States ....

p/s: anyway just want to let you know, dev team probably will realease thier software unlock between eve and new year, if you can take the risk they will release it, better to buy then when the software unlock released.? you can unlock it by your self but bear in mind that there still a risk your iphone cannot be unlocked and need to wait/use other hardware unlock in order to use with others sim card but.....this is the important part then....

Better to BUY a Out Of The BOX (OTB) UNLOCKED version of iphone 3G since it will make your life easier rather than locked iphone....


locked phone when got error, to much things to do in order to restore unlocked etc...

yes, its true, you can wait for the unlocked software release( don't ask me when since i sincerely don't know), then can unlocked it.~~

Is there a software and service provided to Unlock 3G Locked iPhones(US, UK etc) in PJ/KL?

anyway @spikee there still not softwre unlocked YET,

i will move to shah alam/KL next year and if I have maybe we can do the unloking process( if the software unlocked released lar ) together since i also want to unlocked friends and my eldest brother iphone when the software unlocked released ( WHEN The software unlocked RELEASE arr, DOn't Flame Me shifu~~, hahaha..)

Oh well, davidgary73 thread has info on the unlock software and which baseband will be available for unlocking. Go read and hopefully your friends phone still at firmware 2.0.0. Then new years eve can unlock according to devteam.

spikeee you definitely SHOULD NOT buy from America or UK where the handsets are locked. At the moment it is still very very difficult to unlock iPhone 3Gs. Yes I know iPhone Dev Team has promised an unlock for 2.2 firmware but it only works if you're on the old modem firmware.

the previous trend was to disguise as a girl to obtain a "special tag" status.

Tipu reading and "MALAS" is the key. That's why Dr Mahathir say (some) Malaysians are lazy. Well, is proven so many times here in this forum..ahaha...

Other excuses for not reading the pinned threads for information would probably be:-

1. "I lost my reading glasses, and I missed the part that you pointed out"
2. "I'm Paris Hilton, I lost my personal assistant and now I need to use my jewel-studded iPhone outside AT&T network, so I need to do the unlock myself"
3. "I'm here to get a rise out of the people here, in addition to getting answers to questions which I know already answered"
4. "I'm a baby chick bird, I can only open my mouth, too weak to type or click anything to surf the net for my needs, feed me!"
5. "I'm a girl from my gender tag, and I'll give special treatment to those who came to my rescue......Ohhhh, my knight in shining armor! "

Excuse #5, is probably the most remote of a chance to happen, there are fastidious and savvy female users in this forum, for example , psychopersonified. More often than not, excuse #5 would be noobs too ashamed to be called out as lazy, disguising themselves as females via gender tag, so that they can do or ask whatever they want, in hope that the crowd here be more accomodating towards the fairer sex.

Treating the fairer sex here differently in hope of something more than just casual brush of conversation here = LAME.
