Opium would be the best choice among the three. Very good sillage and longevity.

Subtil is too light and fades fast. L'Homme is fairly average but I love wearing it.
*
yeah i do agree the smell of L'Homme is abit addictive, too bad sillage is average..

Added on January 17, 2011, 2:20 pmI did some perfume lurking at tang's vivocity too..

Creed Original vetiver - Fresh scent, with lotsa minty citrusy burst but cost like SGD249 for a 150ml bottle..

Serge Lutens - one of the bottle, dark musky smell, cant remember

Hermes - Jardin - cant really broadcast sillage

JPG le terrible - toned down of the original Le Male

Chanel Allure homme - this VS Chanel Allure Homme Sports - My friend says that allure homme smells better

Bro I 100% agree with what u said !

I got influenced too much by those reviews and bought many frags that i ended up not liking. Yes I love Cool Water and Armani Code...both very common but who caresĀ  tongue.gif
*
much agreeable on that...and moreover do remember that they had 4 season which is also a factor of how a perfume diffuse, i.e perfume that they use in winter complain about sillage wherelese over here is a monster...!!!
past few days it was very cooling in singapore 21deg..i wore the perfume that cant really project well enough.. i was thinking sprayed too little ended up over-spray and someone fainted in the company... LOL just kidding..
the perfume : YSL l'homme

over in singapore they do sell mini decants i.e 1-5ml perfume at lucky plaza, and also "tester" sets, for perfume collectors, i would recommend you to do this, go over to next door tangs or ion/isetan which is further up, test the perfume you want, then go over lucky plaza and look for tester units, which cost slightly cheaper, however do remember to test the perfume out to make sure the it is still o.k

i've just tested d&g mini sample perfume on the one and the one gentleman...

the one gentleman - slightly powdery low sillage on cold weather(assuming i am in my room for 2 hours temp 22-25 deg) skin scent

the one - sweet, better projection that the one gentleman

jonny, i am temp between allure homme VS sports VS edition blance,
chanel platinium egoste, egoiste,rive gauche

in terms of longivty vs sillage vs for smokers

hey guys, i just gotten some tester 1ml vial for kenzo tokyo and ST dupont le intensse, burberry sports for men , dior fahrenheit intense, dior eau sauvage intense ...will let you know of the result...

as what jonny had said, different people has different view/scent on perfume..
i find that r.l polo black is a safe to wear perfume, i.e in office,dates,meeting..fresh scent, it is not really low sillage, it is abit of a sneaky perfume, it will come back to live once your body heats up, i got a fellow male colleague thinks it is a nice perfume( straight men) honest compliment, not bragging or made up like some of other forums..

armani code - nice perfume, old school type..
others cant really comment..

jonny, i've tested rive gauche, it is slightly on the heavy / clouding scent, gives me the memories of the 80's..at the same time i tested live jazz as well, it is on the minty brew tea scent, can thinkn of having it as a collection..

tjwn - jpg le male is a love or hate scent, the dry down is quite sweet scent.. you can try a slightly tone down version - jpg le male terrible...
i have a le male, it is a gift from my mum many years back, at first it is really powerful... after 9years the juice is still powerful but slightly toned down...

some of my perfume dated back more than 5 years does not have the top notes, straight to middle or base notes, i.e hugo boss green edition -
calvin klien eternity - doesnt have the sillage power anymore.. surpisingly le male after more than 9 years it is still ok..

Both totally different. Le Male has a very strong powdery vanilla dry down that smells synthetic. Nevertheless Le Male is still a very good frag with insane sillage and longevity. One of the guys above recommended Le Male for work...that's possible but only if u use 1 or 2 sprays...in an enclosed environment u definitely won't want to let Le Male loose LOL. It's probably more of a casual/clubbing type of frag.

I pretty sure it's called Fahrenheit Absolute. But yeah i'll be waiting eagerly for your take on it as it's not available in Msia yet. But I could be wrong as I hardly ever go frag testing nowadays.

Rive Gauche even though released in 2003 has that 80s feel to it but slightly toned down...all thanks to Tom Ford. Which one u getting ? Live Jazz or Rive Gauche ?
*
hey jonny,
sorry typo, its fahrenheit abosolute and eau sauvage intense,
actually cant find the normal bottles here, however they have it in 1ml tester vial that sometimes you can get freebies when you purchase a normal bottle in parkson..
if you are interested in getting the tester 1ml, it is selling for sgd3 for one..pm me if you are interested to get, i will be going back to kl for cny,
thinking of getting livejazz if they have promo

France.

By the worlds most historic perfume house, held in high esteem by many perfume fans, Guerlain.

by the way, l'heure bleue is one of the oldest perfumes in the world still in production. first introduced in 1912. Cant find in malaysia!

what's good for the evening ?
*
evening dinner or clubs?

clubbing would recommend something more potent and broadcasting, dinner would be anything from your preferences..

hey jonny, dunhill edition still can be smelled from the namecard till this very moment as i type.

by the way, my friend gave me a 3/4 bottled of the discontinued gucci nobile , very nice and potent, can last through the night till next morning..

tried the polo crest already?

When sprayed on skin Dunhill Edition is almost as long lasting biggrin.gif

I've heard many good things about Gucci Nobile...it's rare i think so better make that bottle last LOL.

I just tried Polo Crest last night. I think I like it ! Has that similar mature vibe like Edition, Aramis and Escada Pour Homme.

Go try Aramis Havana if u have the chance. I've tried a very frag similar to it and was very impressed...n they say Havana is even better.
*
glad you liked it..i dont have much left. almost empty bottle after decanting

yes i had aramis p.h , i gave it to my dad as i think it suits the age group..hehe...
will look out for aramis havana if there is a chance.

I just got my Chanel Platinum Egoiste.

Kinda disappointed...  Its smells fade quicker than Gucci by Gucci...
My Gucci by Gucci can lasts up to 8 hours though it's weaker time by time.

I can't smell Platinum Egoiste on the second hour after spray...
*
er hi bro..

i am no perfume expert but you ought to know that gucci by gucci is quite weak in sillage, it is a close to skin kinda scent, means you may smell it lightly on you or someone who is practically hugging you for a period of more than 5 seconds may smell it on you..if someone is at least 1 feet away from you wouldnt know you had gucci on..

anyway i had just tested on channel platinum egoiste in the airport just now,
i sprayed it on my hand, around 7pm, went into lounge to eat, went out to smoke, flight delayed for 1 1/2 hours and by the time i was on the flight, the sillage is still quite good..

if you want bang for the buck perfume in terms of 8hours or more, go for angel men, le male, terre de hermes

hey jonny,
no doubt guerlain le'eau smells totally like terre de hermes, might get one as a substitute lighter version, slightly cheaper than terre..
LOL

how do you liking the zen?

bila mau buat review on absolute eh? curious to know..

hackwire, do homework dulu, test and get to know the smelly notes from retail i.e parkson, sogo , tangs. then compare. if not you may not find out as different ppl will react differently on individual perfume,
i.e you may smell ginger on this perfume, but other ppl differs..

thanks chenoo. the perfume promoters usually use the tester bottle to spray. do they usually use top note? should we be requesting for base note after we tested it?

Added on February 12, 2011, 7:31 am

thanks wazzap. i still cannot tell the difference and whether i can trust the seller 100% on this is another thing. just like you , you claimed your bottles are from USA . how do i know that it's original stuff from USA?
I mean all these big branded company can even sell rejected bottles to middle men ? i kinda doubt this as i believe they have some sort of quality control . it has to be supported by facts on such gossip.

right now, only way to authenticate the originality is buying from a reputable mall like Parkson,Isetan,Sogo etc.

hope u could shed more lights on your very own experience and how we can detect imitation , if there's a way..?
*
best way to avoid is.. go retail, it is your safest bet,
if you want it cheaper, wait for warehouse sales from luxasia or lvmh etc..

yo man. pls tell us how musc ravageur smells like. is it really as hyped.
*
musc is heavily vanilla based perfume,

if you like vanilla, you will love this perfume like crazy

opening notes what i smell is tonka and something similar to kuros..
light on vanilla

base notes is vanilla...and sillage is a monster..
i can still smell it after shower..

something really nice is that when you request form frederic malle, they will have a hand written note thanking you for interest in their product..

this is an email reply regards to other selection of their editions de parfum

IRIS POUDRE which is a very elegant, flowery and powdered perfume.

FRENCH LOVER is a woody, slightly spicy and manly perfume.

GERANIUM POUR MONSIEUR is a fresh, minty and very surprising perfume.

hi fiddle,
i find that burberry london is a great perfume, tobacco/sweet scent, however the main issue with it is the longevity, great scent for work or dinner situation

have a test for chanel platinum egoiste
-
Yesterday scent of the day :- Dior Farenheit 32, fruity fresh scent all day, longevity 12 hours and still going on..sillage is awsome

My scent of the day :- Prada Infusion de Homme.. kinda love the soapy scent..good thing it is unique, alot of ppl wont wear it

hi guys..
i would like to ask for advise,
between these 3:

dior higher energy, bvlgari blv edt and ck escape men,

which one u prefer for someone in early 20?

plz i need ur advise coz im new and know nothing about perfume.
*
dior higher energy is nice, however longevity is an issue there, means it doesnt last long as compared to other dior's frags

blv is more towards a powdery scent from my pov

escape is great with sillage longevity is on an average side..

depends on own preferences to choose which perfume you would prefer

dior higher energy would be great for office/school

blv would be great for dinner/nights out

escape, romantic dinner or nights out..

thank you for your suggestions, smile.gif

as on dior fahrenheit, is the smell too sharp or strong? judging from the bottle itself. hehe. tongue.gif

i personally like frag that smells clean, crisp/masculine and light.

around below rm200 yea? thank you, but i'm not sure where to look at in penang. unsure.gif
*
would i suggest you prada infusion d homme,
from my point of view, it smells like clean soapy scent, however do give it a try

or maybe try on burberry ice limited edition, it is clean, abit on the fruity side..

currently tangs@orchard have a promo, buy one for men and woman at sgd190 and they throw whole lotsa freebies inclusive of a free 50ml or either burberry sports or something... single 70ml bottle is sgd130..
not sure if tangs@msia is having this promotion or not

so between JPG Le Male and 212 which one u suggesting for a newbie like me?
*
i would suggest that if you could go and have a test for both perfume as both are quite indifferent from each other,
212 men is more on the fresh, wherelese jpg is on the sweet vanillaish smell
unless you are mentioning about 212 sexy men, which is more on the oriental spicy ..

if you could try and find the scent i am wearing today which is more on a fresh side, its a safe scent, wont offend anyone if you wear too many, good for office/college...
