Grand Livina is to fight with Innova.
Rush is 'replacement' for RAV4 woh.

QUOTE(sonic_cd @ Jan 4 2009, 10:46 PM)
rush is the rav4 replacement ? lol.i think my old car also better (fc not counted.lol) .i think the rav4 price is too exp till not many people buying ... (compared to crv lah ...tongue.gif )
*
no way, i'm sorry andy but that's incorrect. The Rush is NOT a replacement for the RAV4. In fact RAV4 is still in da market and it comes with a V6. UMW has never and will never bring in the RAV4. They are just a bunch of old farts who think they know what's best for the m'sian market! Boooo!

Stoner, actually UMW brought in the previous RAV4 before and it fails miserably. It's overpriced and not up to date, technology wise. Only appeal to chicks.

The Yaris shares the same faith with RAV4 a few years later... laugh.gif
*
they really did? i thought they were grey imports tongue.gif

QUOTE(andyjyneo @ Jan 4 2009, 11:07 PM)
No, bro, I don't mean that Rush is to replace RAV4. I don't mean that.
It's like a cheaper version of RAV4. They don't discontinue RAV4.
This is my explanation.
*
bwahaha, why so serious andy?
i get that way when we talk about umw. I really dun like the way they do things shakehead.gif
But seriously, they should consider to bring in more toyota models and not grey importers

Hi guys, I'm doing a survey about CKD and CBU cars, if you have a CBU Toyota from Thailand or Japan, kindly drop comment about your car and also the built quality there, I would like to know more.

Anyway, thanks a lot and have a nice day. biggrin.gif

i read your post about the ambiance noise in your vios and i've just one thing to say, the vios was actually built to be an affordable toyota. Did u know that when the first gen vios was introduced to the gomen, how much was the proposed price? RM 60k. It was gonna be cheaper than our national car's mid sedans, which was a red flag. sad to say they had to add a lot of accessories to the car just to put in into that price range it is today.

I mean, i'm not anti-Vios or anything, my mum owns the face lifted 1st gen and i like driving it as well. It really serves it's purpose as an everyday workhorse. Gets u from point A to B without any hassles, no fuss and no problems. The built quality is definitely better than some of the 1.5 models in the market. U know who they are...

I'm a proud supporter of JDM cars and will always be. Why? becoz UMW toyota sucks and that's enough said! they bring in sub standard toyota cars and expects us to live with it. They don't offer even a quarter of choices that u get from the Jap market.

Actually, NVH is very much dependent on the model that is produced, u can't expect an affordable car to have the quietness of a lexus. My altezza actually has very good NVH, i can hardly hear my tanabe exhaust, well except when i floor it at high revs. On normal cruising, i forget how bassy the exhaust sounds until I open my sunroof or roll down the windows.

Like a lot of ppl say, u can't compare an expensive JDM import toyota to a local model. But it was very nice of your grandparents to buy u a vios to go to uni. Back then, I only had a hand-me-down Mazda Astina, which i turned into an ah beng car when i first discovered accessories sweat.gif

lol TRD stuff memang gonna cost a bomb.

I dunno la. Still thinking. Feel like lowering the ride and maybe front + back bars. hmm.gif

Any suggestions? tongue.gif
*
only lower your ride if u don't live in KL. The bumps are mad and the potholes are just crazy!
what i'd give to raise my car back to the normal height.

Haha, you know that too.
Yes, I second that! UMW sucks!
To customers, UMW means U Mustn't Whine.
To staffs, UMW means U Must Work.
F*CK UMW lah.

hahaha, well said andy! thumbup.gif

QUOTE(-vip3rleon9- @ Feb 20 2009, 12:40 AM)
It's a RAV4 anyway, I think it won't make much difference. laugh.gif
*
haha, ok, in terms of ground clearance, yes, there won't be much difference. But in terms of ride comfort, that will make a lot of difference, why? becoz it will definitely be harsher than usual. Trust me, TRD shocks aren't that comfortable. Sure my car hugs corners like no tomorrow, but it gets sickening after a few uneven roads in KL. My wife complaints like no tomorrow rolleyes.gif

QUOTE(sonic_cd @ Feb 20 2009, 02:54 AM)
no need lowered ... go add some projector ,hid, sub neon , enough .tongue.gif
*
hahaha, sonic, still very proud of your headlights eh? I've switched my 8000k bulbs out, put back standard 4,500k. Went through a JPJ roadblock one day, but they didn't stop me. After that incident, i changed the bulbs and switched back to stock rims as well. The only GT look for my altezza is the lowered ride height. icon_rolleyes.gif

QUOTE(oec88 @ Feb 20 2009, 07:26 AM)
Yeah whatever you mention there, is quite true. Firstly I would say I'm not a person who anti Avanza and Rush. Just like the folks say around in Paul Tan automotive blog, our UMW Toyota just bring in some cheapo vehicle, then with an old engine and a Toyota badges on the car, then our country consumer will buy them, why? "TOYOTA" what. UMW Toyota is not just sucks in business, they are sucks in services too.
*
yes, for some god-forsaken reason, they decided to bring in old engine cars and it's really sad becoz toyota does produce high quality cars. Look at the Mark X, estimas, alphards and i'm still proud of my altezza, these cars were built with quality in mind. Until today, my car still feels quiet. UMW should just wake up, go import the Prius now, we're so backward that ppl in Singapore are laughing. Give the civic hybrid a run for it's money.

Oh well, at least UMW is doing something right by bringing lexus in. Other than that, whistling.gif

hi andy, it seems that Honda is providing a better service then UMW.

my dad had been complaining about UMW since 20 years ago, he wrote a complaint letter when he receive a comment letter from UMW. Guess what my dad received?

2 key chain  rclxms.gif & a "thankiu for your comment" only  doh.gif
*
wahh, wrote a complaint letter and only got a keychain? My gosh, either the UMW customer service manager is cheap and low-class or he/she is not qualified to be one!

if i were your dad, i'll send the keychain back and inform the customer service mgr to shove it and threaten to go to the press. If your dad was not satisfied with the service, just go to the tribunal for consumers. I tell u, big corporations would always avoid these cases and try their best to please.

that's why it's a good thing that i don't send my car to UMW. icon_rolleyes.gif

I've a cousin works in UMW service centre in the branch here. He always ask me, "why your family go for Honda only? Should go for Toyota mah."
Knn, I feel like saying "UMW sucks lah. Don't want UMW lah."

hahaha, u should tell it to your cousin straight to his face that UMW sucks whistling.gif

my altezza's lowered with TRD superlow. But it's not for speeding, more to hug corners whistling.gif
Low ride + rear wheel drive = superb cornering speeds! thumbup.gif

but, no to speeding, polis kata jangan... that's why mine still has ori factory speed cut

eherm. May I ask you guys where to locate our Toyota VIN? Vehicle Identification Number?

I`m driving a Hilux now biggrin.gif
*
i'm not too sure about Hilux coz i have never been in one. But i believe all new toyotas should have a VIN label printed on the B pillar of the driver's side.

Open the door and check it out, there should be on there.

However, for older models, there's usually a plate in the engine compartment located on the firewall. Do let us know if u locate the label, ya?

Here's a pic of one of the toyota models from the US, hence the label on the left door. Our's should be located on the right door.
