Declimatize the suits. Hmmm..... one daring option is to change the lining to temperate weather one. Or opt for skeleton lining. The shell just leave it as it is. But the cost of doing so might be high i think.

QUOTE will the cost to "declimatize" the coat higher than making a new one? how do u declimatize the suit? The cost i'm not sure. But one thing for sure they would have to take apart the whole suit and then cut new lining for it. And the lining may be lighter material or half lining. And the sleeve linings would be changed too. Also if there are heavy padding inside, maybe changed to lighter one or removed altogether. Thinking of the job involved, i think make a new one would be better. Even if you want to retain the original one because of sentimental value. hehehe. Declimatize is just a term i made up which came from some hardware related stuff. I do not thnk there is a term for re-engineering suits. |

I do not know if any lining can be have more cooling properties than the regular ones. I did a check and see it is actually a type of Viscose. I remember this was used a lot in womens wear.

QUOTE This story was told on FlyFM a month ago, thought I'd share it with you guys. Apparently this couple were about to get married, so they decided to shop for a suit for the bridegroom. They went to a high end designer store (in KLCC if I recall correctly). The suits there cost around RM20,000. From the moment they went in, they were treated very rudely by the sales assistant there, who kept treating them as though they could not afford. Finally the sales assistant said "Don't waste my time, just go to another shop that sells suits cheaper". The other shop that was suggested by the sales assistant sold their suits for around RM10,000. The story however does not end there. The radio station decided to give a call to that particular shop to clarify matters. The person who picked up the phone (whom I think is the same one that was with the couple) was also extremely rude, and basically told the radio station DJ to fu(k off. Any idea on which shop this could possibly be? The radio station refused to reveal the name on air. Nice!! Only 2 stores that sells suits over 10K. Brioni & Emergildo Zegna. So who wanna take a hidden camera and make the staff get fired? |

In some way if you are not dressed very nicely or you ask for some discounts, they would flip their eyes up. All sales persons should be accomodating to any customers. Be it a guy in ah pek shorts and singlets to people with different skin color.
If i were the potential buyers, i would e-mail a very nice letter to the parent company & CC to the company that manages the brand here. Thats only first step ya? Second is very drastic. Would go to media. Third would ask friends to go for reenactment with hidden camera and post in YT. Forth, mass defamation. Fifth.. take over the world!!! Muahahahahaha!........ errr over my head liao. |

In some way i think people who are acustomed to who is who and who does a good job and who looks at their jobs has totally different perspective from the average joe who have their fix in papers.
Surely i'm sure almost no one knows Richard James Sr unless that person has read about him in some niche market magazines and websites. Hell who even knows Pink and Ted Baker before they even came to Malaysia 2 years ago? Sometimes i think its a little unfair to these tailors to get negative comments. But then again have to take into account that their works are almost always inspired by someone famous. And then people start to brand them un-original. Thats where the problem starts. And then if you get too original, people start to call you non traditionalist. Its hard to be a super tailor nowdays. And also last time in the 40s' & 70s' every one was experimental. You get weird suits in catalogs. Some work, some not. But whats facinating is they are special one of kind in that decade. In 2007-2010 its Korean rage. Nowdays the Korean makes really fancy suits that seems to outshine everything we see in famous brands. More couture than anything. People starts to warm up to these looks. I thin i am slowly starting to realize every decade a suit is a suit. Still hard shouldered, button on sleeves and pockets. |

It is not advisable to alter the shoulders. Firstly it is very difficult. I can say 90% of tailors would not want to do it. If they do it would probably cost more than a cheap suit or 50% of the cost of your current suit. Now i have asked a few non prestige tailors and even clothing alterators. They charge in a region of RM150-300 for shoulders. And no guarantee of the outcome. So you can't go b****in at them if the suit does not improve that what you brought in. The best suggestion? Sell the suit.

The shirt you can buy at departmental stores. Its called mandarin collar or band collar. But if you need unique designs, then you have to get them at tailored. But before you get the shirt of dept stores, you could check out Sg Wang and also Domanchi in Mid Valley to see if these unique band collared shirts are available. Anyway i think your idea is somewhat like this.
![]() ![]() ![]() 3 collar variations and double vent for sure. Makes your job so easy as there are photo reference. Or go to his tailor Lords and ask for Tun Mahathir's suit. This post has been edited by netmatrix: Mar 23 2010, 01:49 AM |

QUOTE(mansion_11 @ Apr 7 2010, 09:36 PM) Go to Jusco and look for their in house brand SUAVE. Got many designs since few months ago. Some look like they are Korean look inspired. Less than RM100. Or if you are really cheapskate, go to Mid Valley look for Kamdar and the vest is less than RM20, but looks very dated. This post has been edited by netmatrix: Apr 8 2010, 11:39 AM |
