I am officially pissed off with Pos Malaysia. Three days passed and still no call from them regarding the release of my parcel. Gonna ring them up tomorrow. Should I get this news across the media? Maybe write to TheStar?  tongue.gif

I actually hated people uttering the word formal all the time. Wearing a long sleeve shirt or dress pants is not formal at all. And I've been accused of wearing formal wear everyday. What the hell?

better than ppl asking if u're getting married, just because u're wearing a jacket shakehead.gif

I would say that the price is very reasonable, as long as the final fit and all is fine. Anyway, it would be much wiser to rent the silk vest and cravat instead of having them tailor-made since you might not get much use for them in the future. If you're going for a normal vest and a tie, now that's a different case.  smile.gif
*
agreed. save the money on the cravat (can buy off the shelf). and the vest - if can rent, rent. otherwise, consider some other cheaper alternative as u would not have the chance to wear it much (if ever again).

Thanks guys, wonder where i can find the place for renting only the vest and the cravat? blush.gif .....one more thing...i saw some cheaper vest in padini concept store, does it suitable to wear it on wedding? coz it look more to office type..
*
nothing wrong with those. dress it up a bit with some bright coloured ties and pocket squares. go to The Shirt Studio in 1u (new wing 1st flr i think near parkson) if u want alternatives.

hey pros, i need a little advice.

what type/colour/pattern of tie is suitable to coordinate with a checkered shirt? and is a checkered shirt-suit combination weird? fyi, the checks are micro checks. and also where i can find a cheap decent white belt for formal wear?

would be delighted if you guys helped me out! smile.gif urgent stuff man  notworthy.gif

I've read - almost - the complete thread. Great intel on all the stores. I've set my mind on a tailor made suit, but I have an event next week. I decided to go for a RTW suit first, and just have some alterations. Will go to Bespoked 1U with that suit too.

I walked past the suit department in Parkson Pavilion. It looks like they can alter suits too. Is it unwise to go and buy a RTW suit over there? I have a budget of around 1k to 1.2k for this suit (included alterations). Do you guys think it's possible to have it ready before saturday evening if I'd buy one tomorrow? Any other place within Pavilion (are BB area) that you would recommend.

Or would you just recommend to get a cheap ass M&C one at KLCC and save my money for the Bespoked 1U one?

Thanks!

u can also perhaps make do with a sports jacket first. as mentioned, u can check out robinsons... or grab one from zara/massimo dutti/ted baker and match with an existing pair of pants.

That is a nice deal yes. Which branch should I visit? The one at The Waterfront @ Parkcity or the one in Subang? Or does this really not matter smile.gif

Cheers!

i think you all should make it a point to go properly dressed (informal/business with business suit or blazer, tie, PS at least) to ALT. oh ya and ppl like fusion and jind can pray for rain and wear their trenchcoats.

upon this observation, it can be deduced that pinned threads don't do their job hmm.gif

i think a more detailed FAQ is needed. also, the forum itself doesn't lend very much to detailed searching especially since the threads are humongously long.

I discovered some old pics of my first ALT suit. They were taken in someone else's (terrible) apartment with a much better phonecam than mine.

In my haste I buttoned the wrong button, but look at the shaping of the jacket!

This jacket in currently undergoing repairs and pressing at its maker. The breast pocket sewing is torn from my stuffing in a PS hurriedly and the thing has lost most of its shape from being thrown into a car boot with a lot of other things for several days.

fantastic. another firm affirmation of Ah Loke. any better close ups of the piping and half lining?

hmm wondering if i should make another sports jacket... not sure what colour/material yet...

kotmj,

thanks for the comments. most probably i won't bring back to alter anymore. i'll be going overseas in next week until june. guess i'd not have the time and just stick to it. should be alright as i am very satisfied with my suit plus it seems you're quite impressed by it too.  and wow, whoopee body is definitely  thumbup.gif  .

walnek,
yes inclusive. you can opt for better quality fabric at 2k+ . actually the cheapest start at little over a thousand if i remember correctly for mixed fabric.
*
u dont hv to rush it. wear the suit a few times. let it 'settle in'. when u come back, send it for a good dry clean (make sure it's a good place to dry clean) if u've worn it a few times. don't send it for cleaning if u havent worn it much. then send it back to Bespoked to get them to alter it according to your taste (if you actually find anything wrong with it and it's annoying the heck out of you).

i like the suit by tr|n|ty but my main concern is that is not as shapely on the body.. and im not sure whether just taking in the waist would help.. or would it? hmmm..
*
Relax man. 'Main concern' is quite a strong choice of words smile.gif I hope you're not losing sleep over it haha. The choice (key word being 'choice') of silhouette should also be tampered with comfort especially once a suit has come to a point that is at the very least acceptable. Trinity has some time away so he can decide afterwards. Or he can go read the thread at SF regarding this in which kotmj/hymo has contributed as well.

Don't you dress up nicely everyday? Of course those wearing t-shirts will be beaten and thrown off the cliff without mercy.

After dealing with MBT over the few years, I've decided to make ALT's life easier(and longer) by preparing a list of tailoring jargons in Cantonese parlance since none of you here can actually speak a word.

Now let's see...

Coat = dai sam
Odd coat = dan sam
Tight fitting = Zhak san
Close fitting = Teep san
Notch lapel = yu zui(fishmouth)
Buttonhole = lau moon
Working sleeve buttons = sang doong jao lau
Lining = tork dai
Vent = hoi char
Pick stitch = teng bin
Waistband = foo tau
Cuffs = fan kiok
Belt loops = yi zai
Flat front = peng min

Let me think more...
