U shud get a bigger wan, better for ur syrian.. letting syrian running on small wheel is not good for their back also..imagine u keep running while bending ur body.. T-T  now mayb ur syrian still can fit, but definitely she will grow bigger also..
*
Can barely fit but cant run.Already removed it..Going back to the pet shop that I bought yesterday and ask whether can exchange or top up for a bigger one..She is HUGE...Haha

Best wheels for syrian would be the wodent wheel or the comfort wheel. I think the silent wheel also has the 8inch one.. if not mistaken smile.gif But not many petshops carry 8 inch wheel hehehhe~
*
Yea..Just knew..Try and ask the pet shop owner first..then will tell..

Hey..I actually removed the wheel the moment Chery cant fit into the wheel..Not trying to give her back pains or watever uncomfortable situation..

Got a bigger wheel this time but the stupid moment was when the cage opening was too small for me to put in the wheel..Thinking of detaching the cage later..Hmm

And I got some spare Habitrail parts..Some are from the space station series..If u guys want or anything just give me a pm.

One concern..my sister were given two Syrian (Chery and Berry) by my dad's friend who for some reason rears around more than 20 hamsters..I've read the thread and told my dad bout the consequences keeping two together..Now Berry is with her friend and in another cage..My dad asked his friend about it and his friend said its okay to keep two Syrian hamsters together.. Saw them fought before so a bit worried that one of them could die lea.. How? hmm.gif hmm.gif

just leave as it is...  they might get stressed  if you remove the food from where they put it...its their territory, so let them do what they want lor. smile.gif
make sure the sand is not scented.

syrians are solitary and they MUST be separated... they will not fight untill their 6-7 weeks old...but they eventually will fight to gain their territory.
when my friend bought a syrian hamster her father said kesian la that hamster why don't get a pair...so, she did as her dad told...once she reached home the unwanted thing happened! both syrians fought...so, when she decided to give one away, i took it! so, the moral of this story is do not keep two syrians together.
here's the hamster that she wanted to give away: presenting to all LYN members my little demon tongue.gif user posted image

The guy who gave my sis the hamsters( He has more than 20! shocking.gif ) said its ok to have both together..I told my dad about it but he would rather listen to an experienced hamster rearer's advice..So of coz I couldnt convince him..Just hope none of them died.. unsure.gif unsure.gif

Pls at least try ur best to explain to ur dad, show him support data and material.  For the sake of the hamsters.

Keeping hamsters for very very long doesnt mean that he is correct or experienced. In fact, he is jus a person who keep making the hamsters suffer.

Be a responsible owner, research properly and speak for the right of ur hammie.

Im not the true owner..Just someone who has great concern for it..Nonetheless will find a way to convince him..And I got the Big Wheel already..Very nice..and its kinda quiet as well..

Syrians are meant to be kept in a tank.. best way  laugh.gif both my syrians are in 2 seperate 2ft tanks. So they dont bite anything dangerous. The biting frenzy is coz the cage could probably be rusty and they love the salty taste of it tats why they bite it. You can try getting your syrian some salt stones to chew on. Or alternatively just get a good tank and throw away the metal cage:)
*
Think gonna get the salt stones first..Read the first few pages of this thread..Toilet rolls..Iz it safe?

Chery's now sleeping after her biting frenzy..But she's hard to tame..haha..

Iz it common for a hamster not to run on the wheel..Bought for Berry but he tak mau run lea.Or he isnt used to it yet?

Yes toilet rolls are safe. How big of a wheel did you get for your hammies sweat.gif coz syrians need an 8 inch wheel. And the only ones that have at that size is the Wodent Wheel Jr or the Comfort Wheel laugh.gif Sometimes if the wheel is too small then confirm they wont run on it..
*
Its the biggest wheel that I've ever bought..Measure it from the diameter ? Hmm..If really dont want to run then its a bit of a waste le..

A few questions..

1. Is it best to tame hamsters one hamster at a time..Like I have two and I should be focusing on one hamster first before taming another one?

2. Would hamsters immediately play with their new wheel or it takes time for them to get used to it? Finally bought an eight inch wheel..But instead of running on it..They climb to the top of the wheel..haha..If still dont play then I very lazy to get another wheel lea..

Just found out that the hamsters my dad's frend gave is around 4 months..Iz it hard to tame at 4 months..Not easy lea
