hahha... if u see the list properly, a lot of fruits and vege are very common types...

As long as we feed good quality hamster food, plus variety of fresh vege and fruits..actually it's more than enuf..

The england blueberries bought from petshack wan... as usual..all my stuff i get from there, esp food and treats.

Kiwi, i don really serve daily or weekly. I jus try my very best to do as what nezu taught me, one sweet fruits+ one nonsweet fruit + one green vege+ one non green vege... So when i prepare food for my gliders, i jus put few vege and fruits into the smoothie tray.. biggrin.gif

Every morning i checked, everything gone..biggrin.gif
*
Oic...but for hamster also same like glider?

one sweet fruits+ one nonsweet fruit + one green vege+ one non green vege...wont be too much fresh food for a hamster for a day? can give some examples of combination for that ma?

Ok then most probably gonna drop by at petshack to get the blueberry treat lol tongue.gif

LOL...always treat hamster as if they're ur real friends.

I do always provide them hide out places and privacy. Even u are gonna re-arrange his/her place, please inform him/her 1st by either make a noise or shake the cage abit. Give him/her sometime to get awake 1st...

It's pretty straight forward like how u treat ur family members/friends. Even everytime u wanna take them out from the cage or feed them food, give them some signals 1st. I usually will shake my food bottle which is fill with hamster food to make some noise to let them recognise... else if I can see them sitting there...I will put my hand/finger close to them...and wait for their response.

Anyway, there's always exceptional cases. Now, I do have a male WW which is rather fierce and defensive. He will bite and attack any unknown object which enter his territorial. I got bitten by him like 5times above and end up I gotta handle him with a pair of glove. I believed that he does live better alone without any outside interference. So I just leave him alone usually, give him food occasionally and talk to him like once a day etc...

So well it's important to understand every single hamster's behavior just like how u treat each friend differently tongue.gif

Hope that helps.

Cheers.

can i bath my Winter White? 1 Pearl 1 Sappire.

my Sappire hammie is very fat and keep on stuff himself for 3 winters.

i am a bit worried.

my Pearl hammie is thin sad.gif

how la how la.

Erm...don't quite understand what mean by "keep on stuff himself for 3 winters".

Anyway, never bath WW with water unless under special circumstances such as toxic stain on hamster fur/body. Provide them sand bath is good enough. WW will do cleaning themselves de.

1. Are u keeping the pearl and sapphire together in a cage?
Answer: If you are keeping them together, usually the dominant hamster in the cage will be greater in size as he consumes more food than the others. This can explain the scenario for 1 hamster getting fatter(sapphire) and 1 remain thin(pearl).

2. Too thin or too fat?
Answer: If you ask me, neither too thin nor too fat is good. Hamster getting too fat means obesity already just like human and it's not healthy. In contract, hamster which is too thin also no good because might be lack of nutrients. So, do provide more high protein foods to the skinny fellow.

Actually, it's case to case basis. You need to consider other factors such as age, health, breed, gender and etc. Example, female hamster is usually smaller size than male hamster. Healthy hamster sure bigger in size also. Besides that, a 1 year hamster is expected to be greater in size than a 1 month old hamster. Moreover, WW is always smaller in size compared to other breed hamsters. As long as the hamster is living healthily, I don't see any problem there.

May be you can provide more details on your WW such as age, size(measurement), gender, living conditions, food, behavior and picture(if possible) to hamster forumers here so that we can make better judgment on your situation.

Cheers.

For sexing, refer to this thread page 1 and look for the gender diagram. It teaches you the way to identify their gender.

How old are they now btw? If hamster below 1month usually harder to get their gender correct. But if it's above 2months, should be rather easy to identify the gender as male hamster anus part is obviously bigger to be seen.

It's necessary to identify their gender now. This is because it's always not advisable to have in-breeding. I supposed you bought them from the same shop and same batch, thus I predict that they are siblings. If it turn out that one is a male WW and the other is a female WW, in-breeding will happen very soon. Moreover, WW below 3months old should not be placed together for mating because they are just too young.

So, I suggest you either get their gender correct now or just separate them 1st if you really cannot be sure with their gender.

lalabubbles, you should state there that make sure you're mating the same breed(example WW with WW) of hamsters together to prevent hybrids and to make sure that the breed is pure you should state there that the male hamster must not be kept together with the female while giving birth to prevent the female hamster from being pregnant again(it can be stressful).
hope these helped...
and what you meant by mixing hamsters?
*
Thanks so much sharkie tongue.gif

Will add those in shortly tongue.gif

For mixing hamster ar...

I think few months back... I reading some chinese forums on hamsters. They actually got list out all those possibilities pups which produced from different species hamster but the same breed. Example: WW pearl + WW pearl = WW normal ( black, grey) + WW Pearl White. There's a list like over 100 types of possibilities there, with pictures included. So I suppose Malaysia haven't reach that stage yet. Would be interesting if I can find back that forum.

Cheers.

Added on June 26, 2009, 9:19 pmThings to be noted before breeding
7. Never mate hamster which are different breed. Example, breeding WW and Campbell is prohibited to prevent hybrid hamster being produced. Moreover, hamsters who are from the same family cannot be breed together as it might produce unhealthy hamster.

Procedures prior to give birth
Noted: Separate the male from the female cage after 14th or 15th day of a success mating. Do not keep or let the male and female meet until a month after giving birth. This is to prevent the female hamster from getting stress up, or worst get pregnant again.

Ok added tongue.gif

Thanks

Blackwood cat kibbles is no good for hamsters. If can please change it to dog kibbles. cat kibbles contains too high protein which the hamsters cannot take it @@

Hope your hamsters all living healthy and good laugh.gif

What time does your hamster wake up? Tiny wakes up way too late, like 12.30 in the morning sometimes 1 a.m.

My old hamster woke up at around 10 or 9 rclxub.gif
*
All my WWs wake up when I walk into their room LOL rclxms.gif

They will know it's food time drool.gif

Their daily routine is like...

Sleep --> wake up --> food --> play with their toy for hours and get tired --> sleep again --> activity time( take them out 1by1 and hang around in the house) --> food again --> sleep again

my hammie just gave birth to 4 cute hammies today
but the mother did not breast feed the baby hammies
is it normal?

scared the babies will die bcoz of hunger
*
Erm...You gotta observe yourself, but do not disturb them too much. You might not get the right time to see the mummy hamster breast feed the pups. Try to look into the babies see any milk traces on their body...but DO NOT TRY to touch the pups at this moment until 2 weeks later. Else, try listen to the pup's noise...are they frequent or just once in a while? If frequent, there might be a problem, may be due to hunger or wat... But, if they can sleep peacefully, everything should be fine.

Just try to observe them for 1-2days to see any improvement and do feed the mummy hamster with more protein food.

For more breeding tips, do refer to my hamster blog under bottom part I wrote some personal tips on breeding.

Hope that helps tongue.gif
