awww so sad to hear about sharkie... RIP T.T dun emo cheer up.. you have smokey to accompany you now QUOTE so, no matter what you do it takes just a little courage and willingness to do the best for your hamster and giving them good life...it is our responsibilty to take care of their lives no matter what happens.don't abandon your hamster just because it is not tame or what-so-ever. remember easy things doesn't come without hardwork. I agree with this 100%

QUOTE(Eisenmeteor @ Jun 3 2009, 04:20 PM) My Syrian(Chery,Female) always bite the metal cage aih..Tried distracting her by playing with her..But once put back into cage she goes on a biting frenzy again.. Think I shud get something else as a cage? She's quite hard to tame for me..My other hamster, Berry(Male) so kuai zhai man.. Syrians are meant to be kept in a tank.. best way both my syrians are in 2 seperate 2ft tanks. So they dont bite anything dangerous. The biting frenzy is coz the cage could probably be rusty and they love the salty taste of it tats why they bite it. You can try getting your syrian some salt stones to chew on. Or alternatively just get a good tank and throw away the metal cage:)

QUOTE(Eisenmeteor @ Jun 3 2009, 04:34 PM) Think gonna get the salt stones first..Read the first few pages of this thread..Toilet rolls..Iz it safe? Chery's now sleeping after her biting frenzy..But she's hard to tame..haha.. Iz it common for a hamster not to run on the wheel..Bought for Berry but he tak mau run lea.Or he isnt used to it yet? Yes toilet rolls are safe. How big of a wheel did you get for your hammies coz syrians need an 8 inch wheel. And the only ones that have at that size is the Wodent Wheel Jr or the Comfort Wheel Sometimes if the wheel is too small then confirm they wont run on it..

Mushroom water dispenser not so good.. coz hamsters they run around and all kind of bedding fly here and there.. including into the water.. Also syrians are very messy. With their size... they can easily tip the mushroom over.. and then habis! whole tank messy For small hammies can lah.. thats why im selling.. don't bother to use it anymore XD

Coz the seeds are all tiny @@~ i will be zoned out if i had to remove all of it~ But i dont serve much dragon fruits.. QUOTE(~TheAngel~ @ Jun 10 2009, 02:54 AM) Diarrhea » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Diarrhea can occur, usually caused by a virulent strain of E. coli or Salmonella, which is most common among weaning gerbils (3-6 weeks). Symptoms include lethargy, thinness, increased irritability, hunched posture, fluid or bloody diarrhea, and a wet, soiled anal area and tail. It is treatable with antibiotics, yet the gerbil may remain a carrier of the germ and spread it to other uninfected gerbils. For this reason, a gerbil that has had diarrhea should not be chosen to breed with. My Dear Qem Qem Her Eyes Looks Like Not Enough Sleep She Walk No Energy Her Tail Wet She Don't Wanna Drink Water She Don't Eat I Do Research Said It Won't Live By 24Hours If Not Heal Immediately And So Hard To Cure Wet Tail Hanny Without Seeking Vet.      I Even Aways Sayang Her Among Other 4 Hamster In My 2 1/2 Aquarium  Wah get to a vet fast lah Your 4 hamsters all in one tank is what breed? It says that the germs can spread.. you might want to separate your Qem Qem to a solitary tank maybe? Added on June 10, 2009, 11:36 amQUOTE(Eisenmeteor @ Jun 9 2009, 11:13 PM) A few questions.. 1. Is it best to tame hamsters one hamster at a time..Like I have two and I should be focusing on one hamster first before taming another one? 2. Would hamsters immediately play with their new wheel or it takes time for them to get used to it? Finally bought an eight inch wheel..But instead of running on it..They climb to the top of the wheel..haha..If still dont play then I very lazy to get another wheel lea.. Just found out that the hamsters my dad's frend gave is around 4 months..Iz it hard to tame at 4 months..Not easy lea I don't play with them simultaneously.. I have 2 Syrians also. I take time for one and maybe take a rest or do something else then later on play with the other one. I also hand feed treats most of the time to make them accustomed to the smell of my hands.. I also think 4 months is still young and easily tamed.. Just give it a try and dont give up This post has been edited by SugarCoatedCandy: Jun 10 2009, 11:37 AM

QUOTE(Orchard @ Jun 10 2009, 11:58 AM) guys..i wanna ask...last time i gt hamster..syrian..if da syrian giv birth..shud we separate frm its father? or put togather? btw all my hamster gone edi..one day i put it outside..due 2 my nephew alergic..da nxt day i c sangkar terbalik edi..sob..no more hamster..nw i wan start back.. Syrian is solitary hamsters they need to be alone in one tank. If you plan to breed you only put the male inside the females tank when she is on Heat ONLY~ after mating you should separate them again. Once separated the mother will be alone again and calm to deliver her babies. So bottom line is.. 1 Syrian = 1 tank..

QUOTE(Orchard @ Jun 10 2009, 12:19 PM) wut happen if i put in 1 tank? coz last time i put 2 syrian in 1 tank..b4 n after mating Syrian hamsters are extremely territorial and will fight to the death . But will also injure each other if they dont fight to death You can see squabbling almost everyday. I know you will say the pet store keeps all Syrians in 1 tank.. but they misleading people... The only reason the Syrian hamsters you see in pet stores aren’t fighting is because they haven't develop their territorial nature until they are about 6 weeks. But older ones i can assure you, those that i have seen in petsore.. they fight until bleeding and all This post has been edited by SugarCoatedCandy: Jun 10 2009, 12:28 PM

QUOTE(yana_adell @ Jun 16 2009, 11:55 AM) hai.. 2 question 1)my dwarf campbell edi gave birth 3 babies last 10 days. But 1 of d babies are fully white in color.. looks like albino. D parents is Brown color with dark brown stripe.. is d albino baby have less age life than normal baby?? 2)1 of my winter male dont like to eat main food, so i sometimes give him fresh food .. He didnt drink also.. How lerh?? 1) Are the parents from the same petstore/tank/cage when you bought them? If yes, they could have been siblings. Causing inbreeding and ending up with defected babies. Or was the female already pregnant when you bought her? Also i know its not good to breed 2 hamsters of the same color genes or something like that.. It has serious defects for some breeds of hamsters. Anyway IMO, most likely the white one has mutated genes. 'Mottled' maybe? 2) What hamster food are you feeding? Fresh food is good daily.. also offering mealworms sporadically is good. But he has to at least drink.. or dehydration can happen. How sure the hammie not drinking? This post has been edited by SugarCoatedCandy: Jun 16 2009, 12:20 PM

I give my hammies carnivore food also if i ran out of mealies and if im lazy to go out to buy. Need to gut load for 2 days summore.. so i feed this. Other than that, i know my syrian is really crazy for boiled chicken also but fed minimal. So these 2 other options you guys can try. Make sure the boiled chicken is just pure meat. No skin and no fats Added on June 17, 2009, 10:15 amQUOTE(Lisacrs @ Jun 16 2009, 09:56 PM) yup..i dint feed any insects... seriously they need insects? They are omnivorous so if you feed only hamster food and vege, its also like we eat our nasi lemak with no sambal.. lol something like that lah XD This post has been edited by SugarCoatedCandy: Jun 17 2009, 10:16 AM

So Yesterday I Go To 'Chi Cheong Gai' Petmore Shop See See I Bought A Big (Some Sort Like A Sand Of Hard Wood) For My Hammy.. Wasted 50 Bucks And Its Worth For My Little Cutie^^ Q&A: Does The Sand Of Hard Wood Bad For Them Too? They Act Like Dog Digging Does It Normal? I Bath Them Like The Pet Shop Worker Told Me.. Warm Water (Not Really Hot La..) Slowly Wipe Their Body (Not On Ear/Head/Eye) Then Use Towel Slowly (They Keep Kicking Out From My Finger Hug) Finally Use Hair Dryer Speed Of 1 And Hot On 1 Does It Right? 50 bucks of bedding O_o what kind you buy oo? I Bath Them Like The Pet Shop Worker Told Me..Sorry to say but u just went to the most stupid petshop >< hamster where got need bath! they only bath in sand.
