updating firmware and jailbreak is two different thing........

u can update firmware to 2.2 by using itune....just click update button.......but it won't jailbreak your iphone...

to jailbreak u can use quickpwn or pwnage tool to jailbreak your iphone3G so that it will enable u to install 3rd party software.....

First thing first, pls make time to read all pinned thread..quite interesting though and lots of knowledge bout iphone.

Im also using unlocked iphone from singtel.just normally update using itunes OR u can download the update Fw 2.2 from HERE and save it anywhere on ur desktop. And then click Restore on Itunes while holding Shift button, and then select the file that u have downloaded. After finish, just let the Itunes activate ur Iphone first before unplug it.

Hope this will help.

Perhaps the original poster read all the horror stories over at the Apple forum about officially unlocked iPhone 3Gs being randomly relocked by the 2.2 update?

TS,google for firmware 2.2 or find it in the forum.

then go itunes, shift+restore and choose the firmware and restore it.

should only take 10-15 mins for it.
