erm i think the different is, you buy cheaper 2/3 cores proc and and you get 4 cores performance which can save some bucks, unfortunately it depends on luck too or you can do more research on it , you must get the correct batch and the right mobo to do it, i think after unluck the performance with those original 4 cores will be more or less the same i think

hmm, i'll try to help, although i dont know much myself. IMO, during the manufacturing process of quad-cores (X4), some of the chips have damaged or defective cores, so instead of throwing it away, they cut cost by selling it as triple-core (X3) or duo-core (X2), depending on how many cores are defective. sometimes u can unlock these cores, and get them work by using the proper motherboard, the proper bios, and a lot of luck. sometimes the cores work just fine after unlocking, but sometimes u need to tweak the voltage, etc, to get it stable. do note that after unlocking, the specification of the proc in CPU-Z will be different. If u unlock a phenom II X2 550BE, u probably will get a Phenom II X4 B50 (u wont find this proc anywhere in the shops). It wont change to a familiar proc like Phenom II X4 940BE, etc. it really depends on ur luck, if u got the right proc, and the right mobo, and the right bios, unlocking it will be as easy as changing the date and time in ur bios. goodluck!!

i guess i will wait until the prices of x4 amd cores drop until something more acceptable to me lol.

what prices do you think the amd x4 cores will drop until? if something faster get released.
is amd releasing anything new soon?

No any error msg..It just keep dc-ing non-stop..This prob quite long d around 1 month...

Maybe it's the date of your windows.. I had this problem where my windows date was dated wrongly i.e. 2010, and therefore, i cannot connect to msn/gmail etc

search the CD driver which comes together with your Motherboard, or else download the latest driver from the mobo manufacturer website..

u're using streamyx? cos i have the same prob with streamyx, but not with wimax...

not sure, i'm not into oc and cooling. but just in case u're planning to overclock ur proc, u're probably gonna get a big hsf, so there would be less risk of the hsf not being able to fit into ur casing if u choose the haf922.
