No worries, it should not be a problem by increasing your storage space with this motherboard.

If you are still skeptical, then better save your money in purchasing newer computer for your future.

If budget is not a problem then by all means go ahead with i7. I'm waiting for the price to drop though.

QUOTE(HappyA_Q @ May 29 2009, 12:39 PM)
After having my modem being struck by lightning for 3 times within 2 years (changed modems thrice), I have thought about having some lightning protection for my PC and also modem etc.

So, I would need some advice, hopefully LYN forumers can help me with:-

1) What's the difference between Automated Voltage Regulator (AVR), UPS and Surge Protector? (Errr, don't ask me to wiki laaa)
2) Out of these 3, which is the one which supposed to help protect my gadgets from lightning? Some Low Yat salesmen claimed to me that all 3 could protect lightning.
3) Belkin 6-port Surge protector cost like RM159, and there's this brand called Neuropower UPS cost like RM169. Which is better?

Need your expert advice~ smile.gif

Rather than spending money on purchasing those protectors, why not take some effort to plug off every single thing you have including the line connected to the modem?

What I know is that UPS provides you extra minutes of uninterrupted power supply to your computer in case there is any electric disruption happening. For AVR, as its name suggests, regulates the voltage to ensure stable power supply at all times. This actually helps a lot in providing stable voltage required, if your house's electric cable is old. If you use both of them together, it would be great.

Hope that is what you want.

Personal preference would be on to wired keyboard.

Why? For normal usage, wireless keyboard definitely not a problem as you won't notice the difference. But the thing is, wireless devices are always prone to interference and you would have to change batteries when it dies on you during the most intense battle game.

If you don't mind those factors, then by all means go ahead because wireless keyboard is getting more reliable but I still trust the old wired keyboard. smile.gif

Prone to interference yes, but as I do lots of gaming as much as most people are (spending at least 4 hours a day), technically I haven't come across the situation where the signal was bad or such. It's just a theory that people are worried but technically, it is close to zero. The wavelength of the signal is different from other items especially bluetooth (which would be the No.1 allegation of wireless peripheral signal interference).

Yes, but still battery would always be the main concern for me. I can't imagine I have to buy a new set of batteries every few months or so. wink.gif

Typically, the OS is installed in the C: drive. And you should re-install your OS if you are to fit in the old HDD into your new pc because the old OS contains all the old drivers information that may cause conflicts.

As Hezegroth said, but make sure you use a proper reformat method and not quick reformat method when installing Windows. Have fun user posted image

Stupid question, which I've already know the answer,

For the main rig in my sig, should I change the GC to GTX260? Would the 550w CM Real Power Pro support it, for at least 2 years without any problems?

There is no such thing as stupid question, but they are the only ones that are easiest to answer. biggrin.gif

If I were you, I would prefer to give myself a little more headroom for the PSU although it is sufficient to support your upgrade. smile.gif

Try swapping another similar modem and test it on the same computer to see if it works.

PATA : http://data-recovery.contentquake.com/file...a-connector.jpg

SATA : http://www.satacables.com/sata-to-esata-in...ernal-cable.jpg

Basically, SATA is much faster and slimmer than PATA, a.k.a IDE cable.

is vista ok or not?

I would say just wait for Windows 7 release. It is more like an improvement version of Vista with fixed compatibility issues, I think the beta testers can testify this. But whatever it is, sooner or later everyone has to move on and not stuck with the old technology. It is just a matter of time of fixing the issues they have in future. Don't tell me just because many drivers do not support 64-bit means forever they will not be supported.
