Anyone here owns a Ball watch? I recently purchased a Engineer Master II - Aviator. My question is :

The date on my watch has black numerals on white background however when I check on Ball's website, the same model has red numerals on black background! Can anyone shed a light on this? I checked with the supplier and according to them, all newer models (or batches) comes with black on white. I did manage to register my watch online successfully therefore I guess its autheticity is not an issue...but I am still puzzled as to why there are different variants on the color of the date numerals???!

Any help will be much appreciated! smile.gif Anyone....??

Thx!

you can try getting info from this forum  http://forums.watchuseek.com/forumdisplay.php?f=239

some of them are quite knowledgeable.

Also, a forummer from MAlaysia also bought this model recently.  http://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?t=345884
I've pm him before.  nice fella.

How much you got it for if you dont mind me asking?

no problem. let me know the outcome.  yours is the 46mm Aviator right? Bracelet?
*
I checked with another forum called Watch Talk Forums and one member mentioned that apparently Ball made those changes on the Aviator based on customers' feedback. Many customers preferred the date numerals on the Aviator to be black numerals on white background as they are easier on the eyes. I'm not too sure...but that is also what the supplier (Ball Malaysia) said when I asked them. Anyway, I've just posted the same question on watchuseek as you have recomended.

Mine is a 46mm with stainless steel bracelet...forRM3.9k.

47mm? Is it a Ball too?
My 46mm feels funny at first cos my old watch is less than 40mm i think!

U can order from them directly at http://www.steinhartwatches.de/ or shop in Singapore from http://gnomonwatches.com/Steinhart.html
I have issue shopping with Germany is U got to pay the VAT. at about 19%!
U get the same design and if I am not wrong same swiss supplier at http://www.debaufre.com/ good thing is don't have to pay USA tax.

using ETA 2824 or Unitas 6487 movement they are reliable work horse movement. WUS should have tons of reviews on them.
saw a pre own on WUS for US$299

There you go! Finally managed to post some of my Aviator pics here!
Sorry tried to get some night shots with the lume but I don't think my camera is good enough!
Maybe I'll experiment more and try to get a decent nite shot with the lume soon...

p/s: notice the date on mine is black font on white wheel date instead of red font on black as shown in Ball website.

Received my first homage watch on Thursday 20 January 2010 from Getat.
Watch was ordered and paid on 24 December 2009 and the shipment was stuck in HK post office for some times due to some issue. Communication via email was ok but reply often delay by 2-3 days, he is trying his best to answer all my quiries.
The spec:-
Movement: Asian Unitas 6497 manual winding
Case: 47mm without crown 316L polished steel with doom plexiglass, California sandwich dial.

This homage watch is base on Pam3646 and Pam249.

err....what does a homage watch mean?
and what do you mean by the homage watch is base on Pam3646 and Pam249??

here's a list of True German watch brands. I wouldn't go for those mushroom brands if I am paying over us$100
http://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?t=3277

Miyota 8215 is Citizen some threads on it. this movement only winds in 1 direction unlike eta 2824.
reliability should be quite ok, accuracy depends if manufacturer regulates it well.
oh.. its a non hacking movement, pull out the crown would not stop the sec hand.
http://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?t=138906
alot of ppl opt to go with Laco on Miyota

OWC, ST21 US$299 is kinda expensive I think. seem like the case, bracelet cost that much.. ST21 next to nothing.
ya cheapest swiss mech gotta be swatch all under US$100. as for movement grade, maybe the lowest.
for US$200-300 can find those closeout deals or gray market. a swiss army on 6498 cost around that figure.
I love Nomos! wanted to get the pwr reserve. But then still went with a Zenith defy Classic.
Sinn 900 Pilot, cost right around rm$10k after discount I think.
kinda expensive for a unmod Valjoux 7750 automatic chronograph

thanks for sharing! the guinand is really a good looking watch and worth considering. I love the finishing!
yea, the Sinn 900 Pilot is kinda out of my range for the time being..furthermore, like you said...its only running on an unmod valjoux7750!!

im looking for something I around US150-US250 range...preferably with swiss automatic self winding movement...and 44mm and above. Dont think there's much choice are there! tongue.gif

btw, the swiss army looks great...always liked their rugged design...but I heard that their service isnt that good?? Not too sure myself tho as I've never own a swiss army watch.
