Anyone one with the late 2008 unibody MBP facing this issue:

http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?m...802767&#start=0

For my late 2008 MBP, when I am using 9600M graphic card, screen capture using GRAB gives me a freeze for about 50 seconds the moment the screen is captured. This applies to screen capture using shortcut keys as well.

When I switched to 9400M graphic card, no issue at all.

Please share your experience  smile.gif

For me it's time for me to ring up Apple Care  sad.gif  I shall keep you guys posted as well.
*
wow u made me realize i havent used my 9600M more than 2 months hahaha tongue.gif. as far as i can rmmbr, grab works fine for me

*4got to quote* abt charging MBP or MB using either chargers. MBP's charger is 85W and MB is 60W. if u charge MBP using the 60W, no prob but only charge slow. charging MB using 85W so far i do no prob...but i guess that's not advisable tongue.gif

CleanApp is another app to uninstall apps

also, when u leave the notebook idle 4 awhile, it will just put the DISPLAY to sleep. this is just like when you do shift+control+[eject]. the computer still runs, sans display.

also, when u close the lid, as mentioned by crazyee, the computer will just save everything in ur RAM n turn off any connections. this is why the notebook still slowly eats up battery when in sleep. it needs power to constantly charge up the ram to make sure the data wont get lost

i'm using huawei e220 usb modem on my macbook. so i already install the modem application for connection, which is MobileConnect.

When ever i want to connect, mobileconnect will pop up saying it require my admin password to start connecting. is there anyway to give privilege for this application so i do not need to keep key in my admin password everytime i want to connect?
*
i have that problem too. however, go to SysPref > Network. select the huawei modem (or u can rename it) and tick the 'show modem status in menu bar'. easier to connect (and reconnect and reconnect and reconnect cry.gif ) like that. but if u can find any alternative to MobileConnect please let me know, as the modem status thing does not give u any details e.g. speed n whatnot. n the worse thing about mobileconnect is that u have to restart the app just because it cant find the modem. WTF. and, for me at least, it takes a longer time to launch than firefox!

i've played with mouse gestures since my PC days. never liked it tongue.gif

Mr.Lonely

Apple calls dual-booting as boot camp. It basically splits your hard drive into 2 (one for OSX and the other one for Windows). It allows you to dual boot with Windows , its just like a step-by-step guide that guides you through on how to do it. It prepares for you all the drivers , you insert a blank cd and it burns for you the drivers disc - which makes it easier. Boot camp is true installation of the os , no its not virtualisation. If you want to run XP on top of OSX , then use Parallels or VMWare. If you want true windows then use Boot camp - as it allows you to dual boot between xp and osx
*
that's how we do it...

...in 2006. since leopard came out, u dun have to burn a driver cd anymore. after installing windows, just insert the Leopard DVD and it'll install the drivers.

for GPU performance in windows, do not rely on reviews. most GPU reviews are done with a proper driver installed. the GPU driver included in leopard are slightly different. make sure to look for reviews that specifically test GPUs on a Mac in boot camp

Ah, alright. Thanks! Yeah, I use Time Machine for my backup purposes, so that should be alright.

ETA: Don't want to double-post, so I'm sticking this here. I sent my MBP to Machines at City Square this morning. They'll be sending it to KL at the end of the week for repair. I should get it back within the next two weeks. *crosses fingers*
*
I had the same problem with my previous MBP...the one with the radeon X1600, but i didn't have ACPP tho tongue.gif

i sent it in and it took me 1 month for a price quotation. i ended up buying a new one instead.

hey the EFI update is ONLY for the new macbook pros... thats why jind86 got a message telling him he doesnt need the update. the EFI update was to rectify the reduced Sata bandwidth if im not mistaken. all macbooks and earlier macbookpros dont need the update.

wait...still got ppl use ares and limewire? ;p i thought those stuff are dying now haha

got simple question... my gf just bought the new MBP with sd card slot. she also wants to buy the speck casing but so far those sold in shops all for the prev mbps (with expresscard slot). asked a guy from machines, he wasnt sure if can use or not. for me, i think no prob since the expresscard slot is bigger than the SD anyway, but can anyone here confirm?
