hmm people...i have a small question...
i really like this four finger gesture thing. i already got so used with it's 'up' and 'down' for expose. but i really hate the 'left' n 'right'. its the SAME THING, plus i hate to use app switcher. i googled for any hacks but i cant find one. all of it was about hacking older MB/A/P to have four gesture support. i want a hack that can change the functionality of the right/left 4-finger swipe. is there a way? |

if u have important files in windows, then u'll probably need one.
virus can go in n out ur mac anytime. it juz doesnt do anything. so lets say u open an infected thumbdrive in winxp, u might catch the virus. but the virus may just harm ur windows, not ur mac. worst case just reinstall windows in vmware. |

QUOTE(BlueSilver @ Jan 31 2009, 06:43 PM) i have a question and i hope you don't mind me asking here. I'm planning to buy a new laptop. I'm a web developer and some of the applications that i used would involve dreamweaver and photoshop simultaneously. I was wondering if macbook is ok? I'm currently using VAIO and well it's been rather slow with all my applications running. I hope the macbook is good enough for me. Any suggestions? if a 13-inch screen is good enough for you, yes |

QUOTE(crumpler2009 @ Jan 31 2009, 10:34 PM) Hi guys. Im planning to buy the level entry for the new aluminum Macbook. May I ask is it a good laptop or should I get a better spec one as I see the keyboard is kinda different for this one compare to the RM5800 Macbook. And I'm new to Apple so is it hard for me to learn MacOs X. Thanks alot to all. the only difference of the keyboard is the backlit, so that's pretty up to you. do u always work in dark places? If I buy a Macbook should I get the additional year warranty and does it cover the laptop like Dell as I'm currently using Dell with Complete cover package. Thanks alot to all also, the price difference of the 2.4 Macbook vs 2.0 Macbook is too big if u only compare the HDD and RAM. I'm sure you can get a new, bigger HDD and more RAM urself to upgrade the 2.0 MB and you still won't reach the 2.4's price tag. So i guess u shud decide whether the processor speed bump and backlit could justify the price difference. A lot of us here are switchers from windows as well, n AFAICR none turned back i'd agree with the warranty. i dun 4get to set aside some cash for protection |

QUOTE(dinodog_Jr @ Feb 2 2009, 11:28 AM) Even 15.4 inch model could make you preaching after a moment. im one of the ppl who got a 15-incher for the bigger screen Getting 15.4 MBP is not for the big screen for certain peoples. It is the dedicated GFX card that sells. Some get 13.3 model cause they are not working on hungry application that need powerful GFX card. QUOTE(damos_csui @ Feb 2 2009, 11:29 AM) that's what I thought.. more like a marketing gimmick.. wow MBP 2.8 Ghz? niceeeedoes usage defined by how many app you run concurrently..? my mbp runs only safary, email client and vista (through parallels) with visio inside and only last merely 2 hours.. does this fall under 'heavy usage'..?? or maybe more cpu power (mine is 2.8ghz) drain the battery faster..? not that this really matters to me, just wondering. as for CPU power i think it follows the CPU series... MBP got the T series n P series; 2.4 is P8600, 2.53 is T9400 and 2.8 is the T9600. T consumes more power. This post has been edited by dvlzplayground: Feb 2 2009, 01:28 PM |

QUOTE(ZhaoYun @ Feb 3 2009, 10:17 AM) You missed out the 2xGraphic Card. Good if you are a gamer or graphic designer. Also the real estate of the screen, 15 vs 13. that would be because i was comparing 2.0 macbook and 2.4 macbook. not macbook pro.QUOTE(ZhaoYun @ Feb 4 2009, 10:50 AM) i second that. no heat problems with speck case got myself a screenguard the other day. when i was applying it, there was this small piece of dust in the corner so i used the included 'lint-free cloth' to remove it. but i end up with even more lint on the screen, leading to more bubbles This post has been edited by dvlzplayground: Feb 4 2009, 04:42 PM |

QUOTE(Gilthoniel @ Feb 4 2009, 11:49 PM) guys, planning on getting a macbook. can I get additional 2gb RAM or bigger hard disks from lowyat? or does it need to be 'special' Apple specific RAM / harddisk? yeap any 2.5" SATA and ddr2/3 RAM will do. u can even install it on ur own, very easythanks. QUOTE(Criollo @ Feb 5 2009, 01:28 AM) I've maintained my mbp at a stable 55-60 degree range, stopped using any editing software on it at all, its sorta like a gradiant yellowing on the keys on the space bar row and the trackpad. With the sides darker. lol nasi kunyit! wow scary can burn like that. at the trackpad summore...sorry 2 hear thatMy friend said i eat nasi kunyit while typing...mana boleh??? |

yes i was using kingston valueRAM and it was okay. total RAM capacity is more important than CAS latency
QUOTE(cRazYee @ Feb 5 2009, 05:33 AM) well, we should expect poor heat ventilation then because apple is trying to squeeze everything into one inch i dunno why 1 inch, but i really dun mind if they decided to make it 1.5 inch or so Design challenge. having all that tech in a 1-inch package is impressive and all. but imagine wut could apple do to a slightly thicker machine? |

QUOTE(Masamune @ Feb 6 2009, 12:09 PM) hey guys.. Install XP/Vista/7 on Boot Camp to delete/change the files. I'm not sure if virtualization would do the trick though. My WD book 1TB is always connected to PC.. Now that i got my mac..in my mac i can't delete any files.. I check "get info" and i see my permissions is read only.. From what i googled..its because its in NTFS format right.. I have to format to FAT32 right.. But the data inside so much ler.. I can't seem to back them up..1TB ler.. Any other choices? Also, u might wanna google for MacFUSE and NTFS-3G. i used it before to read/write on NTFS volumes on my Tiger hackintosh, but im not sure if it still works on Leopard. QUOTE(nimrod323 @ Feb 6 2009, 12:34 PM) err, cmon even the PC notebooks comes with 1x1 pairing so i stand corrected, whats with all the trouble of putting it on ebay and waiting for someone to get it? Might aswell trade it in and get the 2x2GB pairing, seriously theres no other pc manufacturer that retrofit their notebooks with 512x512 DDR3,the lowest spec now is 1x1 pairing. The new HP pavillion DV4,5 and 6 comes standard with 2GB DDR3. the phrase "i stand corrected" means "i was wrong" bro it'll up the battery consumption mate, heating and also vibration will be an issue. as for the 7200rpm drive, battery consumption, heating n vibration would indeed be the issues to consider, but not necessarily to get scared of. most of the times these issues are minimal. |

QUOTE(nimrod323 @ Feb 6 2009, 05:13 PM) @dvlzplayground ooo okay, sorry i misunderstood lol,i meant i was corrected when he said there are some pc laptops with ddr3, but again if the ram breaks makes more sense to persuade you to go for a better 2x2 pairing. Actually IMHO the 7200RPM wont be that good for the previous gen MB white,or the merom MBP,the rattle can be felt. Battery consumption will also be high. |

QUOTE(bontaku @ Feb 7 2009, 10:36 PM) If you're okay with the non-replaceable battery and you have the money, then go ahead. It's pretty heavy though, I prefer the 15" MBP. Then you can use your remaining money to upgrade the RAM. or an external monitor |

QUOTE(sabaiwin2k3 @ Feb 8 2009, 04:03 PM) I am in the midst of getting new alu mbp but I am confuse between the 2 version. Could anyone of here give some comments on the 2 babies as the price diffrent is quite huge *LoL* i'd say go for the 2.4 MBP. The 130 Mhz difference is quite small (it's a different class of Core2Duo anyway, the 2.53 eats more power). For RAM and hard disk, i think the 2.4 spec is enough...can always upgrade later when u feel u need it or when DDR3 sticks become cheaper (im waiting ;P). The 512MB VRAM lets u have bttr textures in games. But all in all, i'd prefer to spend the difference on ACPP or some protection accessories. juz my 2 cents :edited out double post: This post has been edited by dvlzplayground: Feb 8 2009, 05:39 PM |

uh guys...i think i'm already through with the 'cool looking' factor of a glossy screen
today i've just wasted RM50 on an anti-glare screen protector from Raytec. Yeah stuff are pretty expensive here, so dun comment on it things changed when i actually turned on my Mac. This screen protector makes everything grainy...can see those small red/blue/green particles all over the screen. i dunno how to explain this (a photo can't show it...well my camera cant) but it kinda looks like when ur screen is damp. so can anybody recommend a good anti-glare screen protector for me?? another shop sold me one 'anti-glare' from Walker...it was still damn glossy. i came back, fought n argue n fought until i get refund haha |
