I dunno where to post but if this thread is not suitable. Mod please move to suitable thread.

Today, my brother brought "Iphone 3Gs 32Gb" at the mobile fair at Kuantan. The event was organized by W&N Event. AT the booth they said this is all original Iphone. The price is RM1080 and u will get Iphone 3Gs + free china look alike iphone. So, my brother brought it as there are lot of people buying it too from the booth. So when he back at home and do the futher check, he found that the phone is actually Pinphone. So he return to the booth and ask for refund.The guy didnt want to refund and challenge to report to police or kdnhep. They said that this is not china but Singapore AP.

Can anyone give opinion on this and how to settle?

this issue happpen before at one of the phone booth. it came out in the newspaper. i think u have to go to tribunal and ask for guidance

My brother fight for this at their booth but still ppl coming to buy..
And if i go to tribunal, do i have good percentage to get the refund?

They stated at the booth that they sell all at 70% discount.. That why all ppl are cheated.

Pinphone is really high quality of Iphone 3gs. They use same lcd with iphone and really same menu. The only difference is Itunes and Compass which pinphone have white box and u need to turn around to calibrate the compass not figure of 8. They told that Itunes need to install later to everybody that come to the booth.

First of all, there's no such thing as an OEM set, or AP even, for the iPhone.

In other words, there is only 1 iPhone, which is the one from Apple. Hence if the person sold you a phone from another manufacturer and claims that its an iPhone, then you may have a case.

They may claim that you need to install iTunes later on, but there's still no way that you can get any non Apple products to sync with iTunes for either music or apps anyways. This is another point to your advantage.

Which is also another reason why you should go to an authorized distributor too.

So i have a case if they stated, Iphone 3Gs at receipt rite?
I hope all ppl that buy from that booth realize that they actually have been cheated. W&N Event is KL based, do anyone heard of them before?
I think LYN should have thread about how to differentiate the original and fake iphone.

Yes correct. If it states iPhone 3GS, then it means that they've lied to you. It does not matter what the phone says, or what the box says, or what the manufacturer or the retailer states. As long as its not a phone that is made by Apple, then they have lied to you.

And the question on how to differentiate the authentic products is also something that had been covered on here quite a number of times. Basically the failsafe method is to plug it into a computer with iTunes installed. If iTunes does not detect the phone or iPod, then either the device is faulty or the device is a fake.

Now im gonna file the claim tomorrow..

Something to take note of though. Make sure you file the claim against the right party. I'm not sure who this W&N Event is (google does not turn up any relevant results), but if its a Mobile Fair organized by them, then chances are that the ones who sold you the phone is not the organizer, but some other company who had participated in the fair. Check the receipt for the actual party who sold the phone to you. This tends to be how such events work, where there's the organizer, and then the companies that takes part in the event setting up their booths.

You can try making a separate complain to W&N as well about somebody in the fair they organized selling fake products and see how they respond.

Ouchhh.. But the warranty card he gave to me is stamped by them.. There's also at receipt.. All the booth there is using athe same name too.. W&N Event.

Here is the story.. my friend wanna sell me a iphone 3G 32GB.. yes.. its 3G.. not 3GS... i just wanna know is there any 32GB model for 3G.. i search in the internet.. its kinda vague.. so i tot i wanna search for help from all the sifus here in this forum..

there is no 32gb capacity for 3G , only 3GS available. better you make sure it's not china iphone or any fake items. and the best is to manage get the serial number then you can check it online via apple.com

Yea. Its a lot of money to me. I can get much better N97 than this Pinphone. They come from far to cheat at Kuantan There is more that 100ppl that buy from them.

Simplest thing is to check the compass. That how i found out about Pinphone. The original needed you to do the figure of 8 to calibrate the compass but the china make needed u to turn around the phone.

And.. china make compass interface is very ugly.

But i still failed to agrue with the booth promoter.

Well, as long as the receipt is stamped by them then should be alright, as it at least gives you a party to pursue the case over. Only thing to worry is if W&N tries to shift the blame over to the one running the booth instead and creating a possible wild goose chase.

ocne of the china mobile company bring in iPhone to sell with their pacage as maxis do,
but they cannot get the wifi license from the china gov, and they request apple to disable
wifi on the iphone and sell to buyer...

i have 1 of this unit 32GB 3gS~ totally cannot find wifi setting in system....

I wanna know , is this phone have wifi but get disable ?
or the iphone totally don't have wifi hardware at all?
if only get disable , can i enable it back?

No hardware Also known as wireless card . That's the reason there's no wifi
