albnok, i like the range of Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4.5 too...the macro is 1:2.3 right? is it good enough?
besides, this lens is pretty cheap ~RM1.1k right? i read that there are some AF problem with this lens, any idea what and and how to test it while buying?
how's the pic quality of this lens compare to 16-105 or 1680cz(i've tried this, like the colors, very vibrant!but a bit overbudget haha)?

SpOOkY: I've heard AF gear problems about the Sigma 24-70mm F2.8... haven't heard of problems on the Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4.5. Yes it's good enough for closeups... if you use a 100mm F2.8 Macro also you cannot get as close to the subject as the 17-70mm can. It's a great lens for still life and flowers, but not insects lah.
yeah, i dont think i will be shooting insects though.

so what do we check for sigma 24-70 f2.8 to ensure that the gear is ok?

according to dyxum, there are some AF problems with sigma 17-70 F2.8-4.5 at wide end. hmm.gif anyone knows which shop have this lens? might get a feel of it first....

any 17-70 2.8-4.5 user here that can share his/her exp?thanks

Sigma 28-200mm - SONY Mount RM6xx,
is the price ok?
*
i was once tempted to get that lens because it is much cheaper than 18-250 and 18-200
however, i think 28mm is not wide enough for me...well it might be enough for u.
i shoot alot of portrait and realized that 28mm is not wide in cramppy places. well it depends on you though...i think it is cheap!

I break my A300 LCD on saturday. I sent my A300 to service center yesterday(monday) around 12pm, and i checked my repair status online at 11am today(tuesday), status updated and quote me rm178 for the repair and ask me to call to confirm for the repair. i called them, RM178 is the hardware charge and no labour charge coz still under warranty. And they told me it will takes about 2-3 days to fix. Hope it can fixed soooon.

i started off with A/S mode and later changed into M mode, but i`m back with A mode now because i am too slow in M mode..What i usually do in M mode is to lock the exposure. besides, i like pictures that are slightly over exposed (indoor pics) to reduce noise and i think it looks better...

Isn't it we can adjust both Aperture and Shutter simultaneously while holding AEL? hmm.gif
Then just do a slightly touch on Aperture/Shutter for correct exposure... nod.gif

hmmmm is it me or is a new battery's shooting capacity extremely long?
just had 850 shots over the weekend over a single 100% charge, with 21% battery life on an A200 with eye-start AF off.
*
it is normal bro. hahah SONY ma!
one full charge for me can last ~1000 shots, without flash but eye-start on.

if i use flash, i can shoot around ~400 shots with eye-start on..

i believe sony is quite good with BATTERIES! (sony mp3 players can last damn long too!)

smile.gif i didn't say tech event.

for me it's not whether USED TO IT. for me, it's whatever the fastest.

i love Av mode simply because my shots are mostly based on aperture so I'll let the came decide the shutter.
you missed the exposure indicator?

anyway bday.gif
ahh sunlight. it also depends on direction of the sun. in some cases. turning different area would mean different exposure.

last time i n00b. always use M mode, a lot of things snap la but kinda slow.

then i met some expert photographer from SG - teach me about modes. smile.gif nowadays I just stick to modes for the convenience. rarely touch M already.
*
Another thing with sunlight(harsh light) that I realized.
1) metering cant help much when there is a strong backlight (behind of ur object) causing the exposure to go wrong result and an underexposed shot
2) AF keeps hunting when the backlight is too strong.

Therefore, i will use flash to fill in to get the correct exposure.

SpOOkY: Boeing Sg. Wang, the main shop, has the Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4.5. If not there then look for it at Leos Trading, 1st floor, Ampang Park.

calvin_gsc: Congratulations and welcome to the A-mount! This is indeed a surprise.

thanks bro, might drop by this weekend and hope that they allow me to try it though!

My method... I always take one shot using manual mode to get the best ambient exposure. For measuring the ambient, I just let the camera use multi-segment metering. A bit underexpose if I need too. If the subject is dark, I just use flash. I prefer using manual power ratio instead of TTL.

However sometimes it's just too bright that your flash just can't overpower the ambient. The only solution is to shoot in the shade. It's easier to control your exposure this way.

*
wow, i learned something today! thanks btw, i do not know what is power ratio/ttl yet hhehe, havent been exposed to a flash!

QUOTE(signither @ Dec 23 2008, 08:02 PM)
err, how long must i charge my battery for the first time ya?? until the light go off or must leave for few hours more?? unsure.gif
*
according to the manual, leave it for another 1/2hr(cant remember) after the light is off for a full charge
we should be happy with the battery because it is one of the most powerful dslr lithium around!
