a200
Super SteadyShot in body - meaning no need buy VR, Vibration Reduction (Nikon) or IS, Image Stabilizer (Canon) which cost more than regular lenses without VR and IS.
a200 wins 2008 TIPA award for best entry level dslr camera.
alot cheaper and newer model than D60

D60

3 AF point compared to 9 AF point of a200
VR lenses for Nikon is cost more..
Older model than a200 and 1000d..
Not much detail I know about d60

1000D

Never read about this one..
But IS lenses for Canon..

Basicly I would suggest a300 rather a200 because if your budget is aiming D60 and 1000D, then the price tag of a300 is around those D60 and 1000D.

differences between a300 and a900?
10.2 MP vs. 24.6 MP
CCD sensor vs CMOS sensor
Live View vs Intelligent Preview
Budget camera vs Cash splash camera
RM 2k++ vs RM 8k++

Just helping out smile.gif

A900 is a full frame camera that is in the same class as the Nikon D3 and D3x as well as the Canon 1Ds MkIII

I would say A200 is the most feature rich DSLR compare to other 2 models...

A300 n A900 practically different league...
A300 APC n A900 FullFrame Cmos which means A900 got bigger censor size compare to A300...
Another more obvious different is the price...

For 1st DSLR A200 will be sufficient n if got more money, can consider A300 (extra feature like live view n tiltable lcd)...
A700 will be another good choice, Cmos sensor n very very reasonable price n can be consider one of the best Cmos DSLR in its level...

Just my two cents...

i dont think the a200 and a300 in totally different league. the specs are about the same.

the main differences i can think of is live view and viewfinder.

if u come from pns and think live view is necessary for u, thank a300 is the way to go. plus the tilting live view and quick af separates a300/350 live view from other brand.

the second one is the optical viewfinder. a200 OVF if significantly larger than a300 since they dont need to cramp live view in it.

so if u think u can live without live, a200 is better value for money. at around 1450 with single kit lens, u can also add up another 700 for f42 flash.

i chose a300 since the live view mode is quite handy. u probably dont need to use it as much as the pns, but if you need it, it will be there

if u come from digital compact - live view is where u use the lcd to display what your camera see. in other words, an electrical view finder

user posted image

OVF - optical view finder is the thing above the lcd, where u commonly see the 'pro' uses smile.gif

i cannot comment much about ccd and cmos since my knowledge is limited sweat.gif

CMOS = better in handling noise (shooting indoor or dark place - not enough light). so can use higher ISO without affecting picture quality much..
CCD = sharper image when enough light. downsize is bad at handling noise compared to CMOS - but should be fine if print on regular picture size/without pixel peeping.

There is no "better one" between CCD and CMOS. They completed each other. Otherwise CCD's manufacturing will be stopped long ago. It was based on your photography style - at daylight or at night/indoor. smile.gif nod.gif
