Asus Xonar DGX + SteelSeries Siberia V2 (non-USB) - RM150 + RM279.

This would be a pretty good bang for the buck, simply because decent headphones in Malaysia are jacked up and way overpriced. You can expect some pretty decent positioning cues with Dolby Headphones.

Alternatively, if you can wait for Creative's Soundblaster Z to come out in Malaysia (should be this month), then get the Z instead. Will be more expensive though, but it is a much better card than the DGX.

V2 vs Superlux HD 688B? The 688B mows down the V2 with way better audio quality.

And its less than rm150.

You don't need mic? Then forget about looking at 'gaming headset'. No reason to get a 'gaming headset' if you don't need a mic beside your face.

Your budget will enable you to buy a very good audiophile headphone. This will be the best investment you can ever make for a listening experience.

I recommend Audio Technica brand for their comfort and clarity.

+1.

With that budget, can probably get AD500X/A500X or maybe a 2nd hand M-50.

The cans you`ve mentioned above are not headsets but headphones.

Both are good cans, just pick the one that fits your budget.

DG/DGX will do just fine.

Hello guys,

Any recommendations for a headset with a budget of around RM200?
*
Do you really need the mic? If no, then better off getting Superlux HD688B.

Need better sound? Under rm300, you can get HD688B + Asus Xonar DG/DGX.

Nuff' said.

Also... what's your purpose? Is it for gaming? Or listening to music? If music, what kind of music do you listen to?
Anyways, if it's for gaming, I suggest bundling with Zalman Zm-Mic1 High Sensitivity Headphone Microphone.
You never know when you need a mic =)
*
Only problem is that, no one in Malaysia is selling that mic as far as i know. Most of them will say, it was outmoded or so. A few sellers in ebay have it though.

Thank you bro for the suggestion, then i will buy the headphone first, then looking for a review for the audio card..
*
Do take note that the AD700 is open back and the revised version is AD700X.

Closed back would be the Art series, ie. with the designation A.

Best card for PC audio so far is the Essence STX. Still waiting reviews for the Creative SB ZXR though, to see if its a worthy opponents or upgrade.

does anyone know where i can buy astro a40 2013 headsets in malaysia?
*
Not likely to find one. Even if so, it would be a grey import.

I did ask Heavyarm store about this model before, plus other brands, and due to warranty issues, they wont bring in brands like Astro and etc anymore.

Sennheiser PC363D / PC350 SE
Beyerdynamic MMX-300

I believe these are better.

i preferred mic together, because i'm playing with some friends, but the speaker must be good also  tongue.gif

Speakers? Do you mean the drivers? Hard to get, unless you go for Asus Xonar DG/DGX + Superlux HD688B + generic mic

I'm using laptop btw, looking for quality sound + good mic
*
The setup I mentioned is good for desktops but it works fine with laptop, just minus the sound card.

The SUperlux HD688B is the best bang for buck you can get, just that it does not have a mic. But the sound quality is that off an audiohiple headphone in which, I dare to say, majority "gaming headsets" cant even offer.

any suggestion for a standalone mic ? too cheap might pickup too much of the background noise meaning using it for voice comm could be useless. I googled around and found zalman clip on mic , but cant find it in garage sale or from searching the forum. Anyone got any idea on how to buy it (in malaysia preferably)  or any other standalone mic that is as good as the zalman ?
*
Ive asked around before. No one has the Zalman in GS. If you want it, buy it from ebay.

In dilemma between these two , Siberia V2 or Kraken Pro ? Any thought on these ?

If you just need the cans without the mic, then go for Superlux HD688B, which FYI blows both out of the door in terms of sound quality.

Try getting an external/desktop mic instead. I guarantee you that, gaming headset will never beat proper headphones in terms of quality. Pluss, the HD688B is way cheaper than the two you`ve mentioned.
