@cstkl1
4850 & 4870 has no different, other den the vram.
tell me, other den clock speed, how does 4850 wit ddr5 different from 4870....................
& DDR5 is 2 times faster den DDR4.
wat u said in ur last post doesn't conclude dat i'm wong. wat r u trying 2 argue?
dude, u just point out some other points that i nvr said, ntgh more den dat.
& i dun mention those points coz dat is not the main message of the article.
the decision is fix, 4870 is paired wit ddr5.
& i mention"sort of".............understand?
my point is, even there is no DDR5, @ least ATI has something dat kick ass on the market.
if u wanna argue coz u dun like me or something...... kindly PM me.
pls dun spam here, saying other people is wrong wit no evidence.
u'll mek a good lawyer, coz u can argue wen there is ntgh 2 argue.............
if u wanna convinced me, tell me the different between 4850 & 4870 other den vram & clock speed...................
garage sales got people selling............
kekek i think u better read what i type and what u just said
if u cant understand it..
sorry cant help u more..
again ure the spammer.
click all your post.
and out of 20 show me atleast 50% thats not a spam.
also read the article.. dont assume the hd4850 is a backup
and also go and look at the design of hd4850 and hd4870...aka only the gc chip is the same..
thats about it...and the yields are different..
take it like this
the chips that cannot become a 4870 was discarded to 4850.. the chips that cannot clock to 4850 was discarded to 4830..
sishh.
i cannot be educating ppl here everyday already spending crap loads of time in xs answering ppl pm and emailing fae on test results on mobo and ram.

i dun b lief dis rumor.
4850 & 4870 is identical in terms of everything.
the only thing separating both of dem is ddr3 & ddr5.
basically 4870 is 4850 wit ddr5 & higher clock speed.read the article on my previous post, or @ least read my summary.
4870 ddr5 is sort of like ATI prototype superweapon, just in case ddr5 is delayed or thing dun work out using ddr5,
ddr3 is the backup.dis explain y 4850 has absolutely same artecture, shader.......etx, only memory is different.
did i miss out anything??

confirm cannot be a lawyer
did u even read the article
kekeke
hd4870 came first
and then only hd4850.
the hd4870 series would not launch until the gddr5 was prepared.
ati and nvidia has one thing in common..
they design the highest end card first and then the rest
what the article points out that
that nvidia still continued on tradition based on yields.. the gt200 that cannot have 240sp activated was reduced to 192sp
and with better yields now they manage to make 216sp versions..
ati didnt want to continue that trend
and wanted the best yield maintained at a very high percentage.
but this had to be done with a smaller die
but at the cost of a 256bit mem.
therefore they had to use gddr5
dont confuse things dude.
it was never a backup.
gddr4 was already being used in hd3870.
it was only then the decided on hd4850
and was changed last minute for a higher spec gddr3 with higher core/mem clocks
Added on December 9, 2008, 8:10 pmbtw dont assume. which is what i know ure going to reply if u did reply to this
gddr4 was reiterated
again first of all do u know the difference of gddr4 vs gddr3??
and if there was a backup plan which u are totally wrong about cause its not true and u dont understand the article
the choice would have been gddr4
the hd4000 series.. it was either launch or not launch pending on gddr5 production.
there wasnt a backup plan
