@ventrilocks:
The answer would definitely be the Canon EOS 450D.
The Canon EOS 500D is out of your RM2.5k budget (it's about RM3.2k).
The Nikon D3000 (lower-range) shouldn't be compared to the 450D.
For comparison sake, the D3000 should be compared to the 1000D (same-range).
Just my 2 cents.

@T_P_H_88:
Most (if not all) P 'n' S today have anti-shake/anti-vibration...
Please don't forget that with high ISO, comes a price... noise (grain)...
If there's video recording capability, there should be audio recording as well, not sure about HDMI connectivity though.
P 'n' S are all meant to be pocket-able and generally use SDHC (except Sony/Olympus).

@ventrilocks:
No problem, glad to help.

@destroyer666:
Everybody is asking the question that you're asking.
The difference is added HD Video Recording 1080p at a very slow FPS (20 FPS).
A higher FPS would be better, I'm thinking 30 FPS. Other than that, not much of difference aside from 920,000 pixels on rear LCD of 500D whereas 230,000 pixels on rear LCD of 450D....

Hey can help me decide between
1000d + Tamron 70-300mm + 50mm
OR
450d + only the 50 mm
Can't figure out whether I should sacrifice the zoom lens for the 450d over 1000d or no. budget is around 3k
Any view on d3000 ?
*
You must decide on whether you want the zoom lens or not.
You didn't state which 50mm you're getting (I'm assuming the cheapest F1.8).
I'd recommend this kit:
1000D + 50mm F1.8 + 55-250 F3.5-5.6 IS.
I doubt the Tamron has got IS/VR/VC (Image Stabilizer acronym).
On my point of view, IS/VR/VS is very important on a telephoto lens.
Hence, the 55-250 F3.5-5.6 IS is recommended because it's got IS and only for RM800.

Type of camera/lens/accesories : DSLR camera
Budget : RM3000 to RM4000 body only
Your Location : KL
Preferable brand : Canon or Nikon
Type of photography u want to do : Portrait, gathering, events, blur-blur background, laughter, happy, saddness faces
Any specific models in mind? : 500d, 50d, D90
Any specific features u want? : Blur background
*
Blur background = Bokeh.
If you want good bokeh, go for a prime lens with a wide aperture.
A budget prime lens with wide aperture would be the 50mm F1.8 but you're not interested in lens.
Since you said, you want the body only. Get a FF (Full-frame) like the 5D MkII but your budget doesn't suit the price...
Psst, FF-bodies produce the best bokeh.

@h0neey:
Your budget is RM8k?
AFAIK, most (if not all) DSLRs around the price range of RM8k (semi-pro/pro) are very heavy... May I recommend a Leica? It's a P 'n' S with superb IQ (Image Quality). brows.gif

Why 50D?
When you've got the money for a 7D, go and get a 7D...

@bpk16:
Get a Fujifilm F200EXR. With EXR, it'll be damn easy to use.
You have been blinded by Canon. From reviews, it seems that only the G-series and S90 from Canon are good competitors. You have left out Fujifilm... Bring her to the shop, let her try it out. I'm sure she'll appreciate the ease of use with EXR.
Psst, I'm a Canon-user.
