Hey guys. Newbie here. I'm going to get a PSP some time next month. Any advise on what to look out for and what accessories I should get when I purchasing my new system (Maybe wait a while and get the PSP GO instead).

Most important, the official firmware must be 5.03 or below (if you plan to install homebrew applications / games).

Hey there. I'm a regular in the PSP Community Chat/Talk thread. I see that the rules have been enforced lately. Well, the no-piracy rule was here a long time ago, but nobody really bothered about it since it isn't explained in a clear and straight-forward manner. I've got several doubts regarding it :

1) Distribution of pirated copies are definitely forbidden in here, but is it alright to help on to get a game copy to work? We cannot actually judge whether the end-user actually created a back-up copy from his/her original UMD or if he/she just got it off some random iso site.

2) Are questions regarding PS1/PSX games allowed in here? PS1/PSX games require plugins that breach several copyright matters, so how about it?

3) If the above is not allowed, then discussion regarding PSP coldboots and gameboots shouldn't be allowed either seeing that both the pmf files can only be made using an illegal tool which is not legal for one to have in possession.

4) Are homebrew applications that actually allow iso's to be streamed from computers allowed?

5) Applications that run iso's or back them up?

Clearing up LYN's stance on "pirated material" for me would be certainly helpful

If the rules aren't clearly stated, then it would be near impossible for us to follow them. Also, if you check back a few pages, you can find many users helping others regarding pirated material, including me as none of us were informed about the rules in detail. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

And just asking, are you going to be active in here? If yes, then it'll be great.

i think the rules are enforced only when ppl start to discuss about how n where to dl iso games..if im no mistaken, auhckw was it? 4got who it was, posted a guide on running chickhen r2 and gen/cfwe, which of course, got permission by the mod to do so~

so yeah, rules apply only when ppl ask about iso. heck, i was once warned just for using the word "pirate" games.

If that's the case, then I don't see the point as users can download pirated PSX games, ROMs and other pirated material without having any action against them.

Thanks for the info but I don't think I'll be going for any homebrew at the moment (but might consider in the future...who knows). I'm actually getting the PSP because of Soul Calibur : Broken Destiny . Any suggestions on periherals/accessories to get for a PSP system ?

No....the tactical turn base game you mention there is "Disgaea : Afternoon Of Darkness" which is already release on the PSP. The one that they are discussing here now is "Final Fantasy : Dissidia" which is a fighting game based on Final Fantasy characters.
