Anybody in JB willing to do the work for me?

biggrin.gif

I had a 20gb hd now and can only install 1 game on the hd. I'm hoping to upgrade to 120 gb using the method stated by the the TS, but I'm not willing to take the risk by doing it myself. Plus I don't have a desktop.

PM me and we can discuss business hehe.

Hi all,
I just to share with you all my experience

I manage to come across BEVS series of HDD @ PCFAIR KL and get myself a unit of 160GB

to my surprise, after try to flash it with 3 PCs..none of them work
tried the whole night , research ... still no hope

so today plan to exchange for a new HDD... just before i make up my mind, i remember that i have a spare WD Passport Essential 160GB

I decided to open it up and try to flash the drive and voila ~ the drive is flash-able , and guess what, the drive series is WD1600BMVS

so my conclusion that , the 160GB BEVS do not have faith with me , instead the WD1600BMVS is more flexible with me smile.gif

so now i need to get the Trorx 6 and 10 screwdriver

ps- the shop that i can get the BEVS is Computer War @ PC Fair KL

LOL. I had no problem with BEVS. Maybe like acougan said, many batches with different model of BEVS.

I'll update the guide tomorrow.

ya.. i guess so... mine is Nov08 batch...
maybe M$ already request WD to 'patch' those series since my drive is quite new? LOL

anyway, i manage to flash it using my BVMS series and restore the content. I have no luck with Hex Workshop , so i use WinHex in order for me to view Partition 2 and 3

well , i manage to restore all my data to new drive , but some save games and my avatar corrupted ...

update the system setting bring my avatar back smile.gif
but save files cannot recover T_T

Its the encoding and decoding part during the transfer from HDD to pc and then back Pc to HDD. This is what corrupt save games. If it's decode wrong, then ya it corrupts. But this effect is random cause we don't even know whether it's been transfer properly or not. But you can always try transfer again.

And for Kite, I suggest you try to transfer back your save games again if you willing to. This time by smaller size means, transfer in a smaller quantity of files at a time.

I can't find Partition 3 in Xplorer 360 with my 120gb hdd. When I open Hex Workshop, there's around one full page of zeros. (I have already formatted the hdd with my Xbox)

Im not sure if this has already been covered. I read this theard and didnt see so ihope i didnt miss it. After several nights of try and re-try i have to ask for help.

my HD is a WD1200BEVS - 22USTO

when i get to the part after you type in hddhackr-f, it the asks me to flash the firmware. I say yes and this is where the problem comes in....
It then tells me Error! drive not supported, make sure it a SATA WD Scporpio BEVS!

Well it is a Scorpio BEVS. So any suggestions about what to do?
Thanks

@Veggis - try to do the hexing part from the tutorial (download the doc from the first page attachment) . You need to edit 3 lines to make it work

@anttwerrp - i am same with you , but not same error message (something like FW not writable) . I have the BEVS , but it is not working. I use another series (BMVS) from my WD passport and i able to flash it .

I think it's the problem of model. Like someone here said, BEVS model have quite a few model on its own also. Did you turn off all your PC Hdd?

I suggest you plug in back to your Xbox, then create a gamertag and a save game. The plug it back to the pc. It should avoid the hexing part.
