QUOTE(ferricide @ Dec 15 2008, 09:18 PM) Over RM200 for a prawn BD with high chances of kettam... not worth it. Go with Uncle Ho, cant go worse than that QUOTE(ronnt88 @ Dec 15 2008, 09:27 PM) Uncle Ho doesn't sell BD.. only fake BD (DVD9 pretending to be BD).Anyway, for the 'interesting' you can get the seller to package with dull cover art or flip it the other way so that custom won't see it. Big sellers (like Amazon) won't be able to do it but private sellers on Ebay can do it with no problem. I got a few this way.. QUOTE(ferricide @ Dec 16 2008, 08:24 AM) For SinCity, Blu may not make any difference since it is Black and White withonly occasions splash of colors. I would recommend people to get the Special Collector Uncut DVD Edition since it has more content. This post has been edited by danmooncake: Dec 16 2008, 08:45 AM |

Regardless of color, you will SEE n HEAR the difference. What I meant is for this film.. I felt that HD WON'T make much of a difference becauseI'm not so into the content, the theatrical is more than enuff for me. But to each, to his own. the way the director wants it to be viewed - lots of dark scenes.. perhaps the sound may make some difference but I doubt that. Not worth the HD glory in my book.. well, like you said.. to each, his own. This post has been edited by danmooncake: Dec 16 2008, 08:58 AM |

QUOTE(horray @ Dec 16 2008, 03:56 PM) Lately, I have been experiencing some pixelisation & jerkiness throughout the movie when watching certian BD like The Incredible Hulk, Red Cliff and the latest TDK (just got from Tun Mega just now). Other movies like Transformers, Iron Man no such problem. Did anyone experience the same thing? I believe those pixelisation & jerkiness are NOT a sign of dying lens. Your TV refresh rate could be not high enough.I am worried that my PS3 lens is about to die. What kind of TV do you have? But, if you play a game and it freezes and reboot.. multiple times or at the certain spot yes.. something bad could be happening to your PS3 hardware. USD may go back to RM3.2~RM3.3 in about 1-3 months. They have to make the Dollar cheaper so that we can buy more from them and they need to recover from their recession. QUOTE(fadthil @ Dec 17 2008, 11:47 AM) nope.. firmware update only affects game playing or PSN entry, not viewing movie. Most likely it is a bad or dirty BD disc. Added on December 17, 2008, 11:54 am QUOTE(horray @ Dec 17 2008, 11:49 AM) Well, I used the term pixelization but it is actually similar to Jack Sparrow DVD's when it doesn't play very well on a DVD player, you get funny defects on the screen (jerkiness, patches like pixels, etc.). Sometimes the screen just freezes for a split second which happens a lot to TDK which I got yesterday. Wait a minute..have your check your HDMI cable? Try straighten it or disconnect and connect again.I also experience one freeze on a game just yesterday... I am sure it is not the TV as mine is an Aquos. The only thing I am baffled with is that it appears to some BD (bought recently) but not all. Problem occured on TDK, Hulk & Red Cliff No problem on Trasnformers, Kung Fu Panda, Mariah Carey concert, Iron Man. So, could it be sensitive to certain BD? This problem really sucks... Make sure there is no kinks or bad connection to your TV. While playing a movie, on the fast action scenes, the high transfer rate could be DROPPED if you have bad connection to your TV! Jep,
I've reviewed your video. Looks to me that you have screen tearing issue and losing data. Like I have mentioned to horray.. have you checked your HDMI cable as well? Try with a component cable and go back and watch the same scene. If it doesn't happen again, your HDMI cable or the HDMI port is DEFECTIVE. Added on December 17, 2008, 12:11 pm QUOTE(fadthil @ Dec 17 2008, 12:00 PM) I'm baffled, why PS3 lens so sensitive one... why not other BD players/game consoles? I heard a lot of complaints not only here in M'sia. So far I don't have any issue with lens la, but the only other thing I'm not so confident about PS3 is the disc-insert mechanism...sometimes tend to sound draggy...still prefer a tray mechanism for disc. IMO, I don't think the problem experienced by jep and hooray are related to PS3's lens because of all the cases that I read so far when there is a LENS problem, the PS3 won't even READ the BD or DVD at all. This post has been edited by danmooncake: Dec 17 2008, 12:11 PM |

QUOTE(fadthil @ Dec 17 2008, 10:30 PM) Congrats bro! You finally got ur Black Friday deals... There is always a myth that 1080i encoded video is not perfect but it is nothing but a myth only.If your TV and BD Player is 1080p capable, you won't see a squat of difference because your boxes up-res it anyway. |

QUOTE(Exarkun @ Dec 18 2008, 02:38 AM) My Black Friday deal was shipped 1st Dec and I just got it today. Others with earlier shipping date still not yet receive theirs also. I suggest you wait 1-2 more weeks. It normally takes about 8-12 days from US to Malaysia for First Class International, then additional3-5 more for local delivery by local Pos to your address (depending on where you stay). If Custom holds it, there is additional 3-5 more days for clearance. |

QUOTE(ferricide @ Dec 18 2008, 11:19 AM) Wow.. have you view those yet? If so, how's the PQ look like?I've only seen Planet Terror and Death Proof on DVD and since they make that film intentionally to look grainy .. like good old '70s movies. not sure if BD format would make it better. |

QUOTE(ferricide @ Dec 18 2008, 11:41 AM) I think the PQ won't be that badly affcted... checkout 300, also loads of grain, but images still remain sharp and clear! True.. IMO 300 is a bit different.. the colours are pretty vibrant even for DVD format and watching on BD enhance it even more.Hmm, tonite I will tonton Sin City and see how's the PQ la... its a 90% "dark" movie, but the picture should be superb. The sound already DTS-HD MA But.. for Planet Terror... I am not sure.... not only it is grainy but there's a intentional lot of spots and dust (well at least on the DVD version) to make it look age.. well, hopefully when ferricide gets it later and views it, please inform us later.
