Lightning69, another option is to DL or get untouched BD ripped of up to 40GB! This is just say you have upgraded to Dvico! Read from AVForum that WD is most likely to come out their WDTV version 2 where HD audio or BD ISO should become realistic.

We just keep our fingers crossed that it would not be so soon, if not our wdtv firmware upgrade will surely hit a brick wall. More users or their technicians will be focusing
on the new box......

I am pretty sure you can buy the rest from amazon too.

You can DL from the net too. They clearly say the source is from BluRay. If not, buy the 1:1 ripped version for average RM15 per movie,.....

hello fellow WDTV owners, may I know whether you set the audio to "stereo" or "Digital"? My unit is connected via HDMI to receiver, and HDMI fr receiver to TV. If set to stereo, will it automatically detect, for eg. DTS? I've set mine to digital.

can play rm & rmvb file?

I bought the WDTV about a moon ago and it's been sitting idle most of the time. The reasons are:

1) It gets hot even when turned off. You need to switch off the wall AC outlet (what the F88k!) What so difficult to just turn the power off!
2) The PQ sux even when playing uncompressed VOB files. The upscaling is not automatic and pic with lower res (non-anamorphic) will be small in the middle of the screen and not automatically blown up to fill up screeen nicely like in DVD player. Very disappointed. Who cares about dvd vob files.  This things play MKV up to 1080P and that is why this thing is so popular.  I don't even bother to watch DVD after you see those HD mkv.
3) SQ when play uncompressed audio (wav files) not good as claim by many others. My aim to make it as a music jukebox gone. DD 5.1 is OK. I don't know what sound system you use, but when I play flac lossless audio thru my DENON AVR3805 on my B&W speakers, this thing sound every bit as good as the original CD.
4) DOES NOT DECODE DTS or even downsample DTS to Stereo (BIG trouble). Will play DTS movie with loud HISSSSS.  Not a problem at all.  If you have done your homework you would have download popcorn hour audio converter that convert all your DTS audio to AC3 in just a few minutes.  Anyway I won't even bother to do that because I have a DTS receiver and it plays my DTS mkv with all the ooh and aah.
5) The HDMI socket at the back is a bit deep and does not fit some HDMI cable plugs.  I never have any problem at all.
6) NO internal Hard drive... I knew this before I bought it but now realize how sux without one.  How much did you pay for it again?

I really get what I pay for - RM399 ... no wonder so cheap.

I now use my PS3 as media center...
500GB internal HD, 4 external USB 2.0 ports can the PS3 supports NTFS drive? fat32 only and what about those 1080P mkv? Oh ya, then you need a PC to stream the video right?, Supports all audio codecs including DTS-master and DD-TrueHD how much a bluray movie cost ya?, Execellent built-in wifi and internet browser, FAST boot and loading, excellent Picture slide show control, excellent wav playback, DVD PQ grade for uncompressed VOB playback (renamed as MPG files), SEQUENTIAL video  playback (I love it!)WDTV can do the same thing, superfast bluetooth remote response, automatic upscaling to 1080p, 15sec playback video thumbnails (jaw-dropping feature), much better files management, Blu-ray drive, can install LINUX as second OS, tons of FREE games download (demo) direct to your PS3 HD (can run in background some more), and of course playing PS3 games beautifully, etc etc.

This the best and cheapest all-in-one console/media center... I call it the wonder-box! I don't know why it is so cheap haha...
You can get it now for RM1350 singapore model (1 year singapore warranty but ship at your own cost - so, basically no warranty lah , or buy locally at RM1650 with full support. Even at RM2000, this thing is worth every sen.

Just bought the wdtv and try to play video but it got no sound...
I've update to the latest firmware, set audio output to digital and connect wdtv and av system with toslink cable and still got no sound, what went wrong?

It think it means you can download the latest ArcSoft conversion software which can convert RMVB format to some other format the WDTV can play.

Just wondering if other WDTV owners have "pixelation" issues with 1080p files bigger than 10G. I had 1080p Transformers 1 (over 13G), and pixelation was real bad, so I got the 720p version, which played fine.

Now am about to get hold of "South Pacific" (more than 11Gb, 1080p), but hesitating. Thought I'd come in here and ask around. Thanks in advance!

Drama series, hong kong series. Not only movies. I download series as well, like CSI etc.... My Heroes MKV already occupy 2TB alone.

That's not true, have seen a few 720p RMVB & the quality is quite good.

One more time, can WDTV plays rmvb file without converting them....

Any other player that can support DTS-HD MA output (raw signal) other than Dvico? Coz Dvico is very expensive la.
