somehow i came across a source from insider that says there will be a WDTV "v2" end of this year scheduled while I was planning to buy a WDTV. There are currently testing the player at early stage.

Speaking 'bout DTS, I think majority of my HD collection is DTS format. AC3 will be taking a back seat..... brows.gif
If the movie says its DTS bitrate is 1.5mbps, is it a full bitrate for DTS? How's the sound compared to original DVD DTS??
*
vmad.gif i wan DTS also... but have to wait.

iirc, the 1.5mbps DTS should be the same as the track on DTS-DVD, provided u rip it in untouched way.

From http://firstdtsstudio.hit.bg/faq_dts_eng.html
DTS CD - 44 khz, 1411 kbps , DTS DVD - 48 khz, 1536 kbps, DTS HD-DVD 96 kHz sampling frequency and 24 bit depth resolution.

Says that DTS DVD is also having 1.5mbps

WHere in Penang island can i get WDTV? Anyone know plse?

Thanks.

look for forumer named Avenger, or PC depot (RM 415).
I knew its a bit difficult to buy in Penang, I got mine from Avenger, cheaper than PC Depot.

Notice that your problem 1080ps are all animation. It might be due to the HiReframes problem with the WDTV. That's why I download 720p for animations.
*
yeap, this might be the cause, you have any idea how to check wherther the video is encoded in HRF? I am also figuring how to convert the affected video to other format that are supported by WDTV

All,
At the moment there seems to be a bug with WDTV that incorrectly decodes the colour points for HD content that is not flagged as HD. It sends out the colour as SD colour space. It is reported in the avsforums under wdtv bug lists and features post 2070. Apparently, this bug is related to the latest firmware and the Sigma designs chip.
*
what is a color points anyway? that means we are not watching the correct color tones as they intended to be?

Colour decoding are the basis of reproducing colour from the source. Colour is usually in formats of HD (HD709), SD (NTSC or PAL) and is meant to be decoded by the player to match the colour of the source and sent to the display. This will mean accurate reproduction of colour and colour tones. Yes, if the source is not decoded properly the WDTV seems to be decoding HD colour into SD colour. There will be inaccuracies.

thx for explaining. this is new to me.

QUOTE(DigitalKL @ May 19 2009, 08:39 AM)
I always have this problem (even when just bought since last year) -

My WDTV is connected using HDMI to my Plasma TV. When I turn them both on, sometimes (many times) I get the "no-sync detected" signal. No sync on my TV means like no connection or no video signal coming in.

Alot of times when I first turn it on, I can see the WD logo then poof, goes to "no sync". I have to un-cucuk the HDMI cable, on/off WDTV or TV, do a few things before I can get everything working again.

Sometimes I would get vertical lines spaces evenly apart across the screen also and solved by doing the same thing as above.

My HDMI cable is by Giraffe. I cant try another cable cause my TV is hung on the wall and I cant get another cable in unless someone helps me. Unfortunately my TV is zaman dulu wan so no extra HDMI port at the front or side.

It looks like my WDTV sometimes cant auto detect my connection. I had this problem the day I bought it (read the beginning pages). I didnt get it repair because the problem is intermittent. I dont want to send it back unless it totally wont work.

Anyone else encounter this problem?
*
Hi, sad for your case, I also faced this problem before, it just simply won't sync with one of the HDMI cable, I then changed to another one, which works perfectly now. Really, I would suggest changing to other HDMI cable, maybe you can ask others who used a 'working' HDMI cable brand.

Yes. I once have the Madagascar 1080p with high ReFrames. So I convert using mkv2vob to covert into m2ts file. After conversion, the file is like 21GBs........kind of large but quality is top-notch.
*
or guides on this? Kinda new to mkvtovob...

1.02.07 was a beta. Then Western Digital upgraded it's status to FINAL and posted it as an official download in the WDTV support site.

they didnt record down any changes in the change logs right for beta to final transition on v07. P/S: I am still on v07 beta though. So far so good.
