u seriously never do ur homework before getting them...

Important things i need to know.

1 are female and male.they are together in cage.will they fight or anything?they are 1 months old like that only, will they breed?im so scared if they are breed.1 months old still baby cant breed right?

YES they will breed.... the female can have baby as early as 1 month ++ but best is to wait till she is 5-6 month old n about 500g heavy... and for the male. they 4 weeks ++ can "Sex" already... but smae as female, better to wait till 5 month ++

AND i m very NOT recommend for breeding if you dont even know how to take care for them...

and u better separate them ASAP..

how to make them not so scared.because they are so scare until i scared they have very strong stress and will die.

they are scared becoz they dont know you.... you have to leave them alone in the cage for a few days.... only occasionally put ur hand near the cage let them know your smell... DONT ever grab them n hold them before they clam down n get to know you...
GIVE them TIME...

what they eat?what kind of fruit and vege should i give them?

oh my god.... they are 1 month ++ best to eat 70% Alfafa hay + 30% Timothy hay And alfafa Pellets... and MUST GIVE them vege....

u could refer to my previous post for the list..just 1-2 page back.... i hate to repeat everything again...

in a week how many time should i take bath them?
if u bath them so frequent in a week.. sure die.... UNLESS they have some kind of skin disease that need frequent bathing...

you can bath them 1 -2 month once.... and please GOOGLE for the way to bath a Guinea pig....

besides THat FYI, Guinea pig needs a fairly large place to move around... commercial cage is never enough.....
i myself for 2 piggies, i am giving them 2.2' X 3' space. and it's actually not up to standard as well...

Added on January 2, 2009, 9:40 amand hey.. ur cage is wired bottom la....

FASTER GET A MESH WIRE OR BATHROOM MAP OR WAT SO EVER TO COVER THE WIRED BOTTOM... THEY WILL GET "SORE" AND THE FEET..

YOU IMAGINE THAT U STEP ON THE WIRE CAGE ON YOUR BARE FEET... DOH

GOSH.....

I THOUGHT MYSELF IS EH WORST EVER CAVY OWNER....

AND NOW I THINK I AT LEAST DO MY HOMEWORK AND READ A LOT ABOUT THEM....

READ MORE !!!Regarding Cavies

Added on January 2, 2009, 9:50 amokay... cool down.. to update on my piggy....

they have some progress on eating carrots, but still not the leafy vege.... i throw quite an amount edi.. but i will keep on giving them... smile.gif

and i go buy a washing machine just becuz i wanna let them stay in fleece.... smile.gif that washer is so cool that have anti bacterial function.. biggrin.gif

i heard that there is a shop in 1u selling fleece called Craft Heaven, will go n check that shop out during weekend...

and the black dots luckily is just some kind of dirty... it's not alot, i bath them n purposely bought a hair dryer to dry them..

but can i still apply some advantage in them to prevent the tick flea lice mites?

and the vaseline do work... haha... thats guys for the tips... smile.gif

besides that, i m using my computer table to make them a 2.2 feet X 3feet cage.... altho it's still lesser then 10.5 SQf requirement, at least they will hv more space... and that is the best i can give at the moment... i can find the cubes, so i will use those fencing wire as wat xueki use.. with colorplast bottom.. smile.gif

Added on January 2, 2009, 10:05 amsome very cool website on cages....

yes i agree with sweetcat, YOU MUST DO RESEARCH BEFORE GET GUINEA PIG !!! unprepared owner could be disaster and even horrible DEATH to the GP!! so please PLEASE vchy do read the manuals on the 1st page of this topic, you really need it. if you think you cannot handle it, u better give them to someone who really know how to rare GP. seriously i'm worried about the GP...

GP need extra time to bond with the owner, they must feel secure when around you, and the way you lift and carry them oso must me careful, and please no MESH BOTTOM CAGE!!

if u put them together, you will end up with more then 2....

actually it's your fault and ( the ppl who sold / give to you ) to buy a pair of different sex....you dont want to breed them they why dont just get a same sex one?

seperate them is better for you... you have to give more them to talk to them softly and hand feed them hay n pellets and vege...

i got 2 gurls and after 3-4 days they are very well with me.... they can even hang around on the floor with me while i reading or something....

not only 1st n 2nd page u have to read, u have to read all the post in all the version... there are more info inside too....

sadly speaking, you are not ready yet.. where did you get ur piggy? from pet store? or from some breeder? they shud teach you what to prepare for them n teach you how to care for them before sell / give to you.!!!

and you know how much time n money i spend on the piggy?

1 week before i got my piggy, i edi set up a temp cage with mesh wired n their hays + pellets.... i use 1 week to read all the version of guinea pig corner in low yat and a lot of oversea forum.. i think oversea forum like cutiescavies and guinea page cages forum gave more n detail info about caring piggy..

and i edi use more then rm250 to buy stuff for them. not to count the time to clean the cage, to do bigger cage, to bond with them, to find info of the vege they can eat and i printed the list and put on my grocery list ....

caring for a pet any kind of pet is not easy as a lot ppl thinks...

it's THE SAME with caring of your OWN baby that you gave birth after 10 months pregnant...

Added on January 2, 2009, 11:59 amVCHY, have you layer the bottom of your cage with something?

i worried that they ter stuck their feet between the wire and break it while trying to get loose...

they are very fragile....

very good determination...gud luck!!dun worry do some reading and ask what you need to know, i'm sure someone here will help you...happy.gif

the bedding is up to you, if you want to use shavings dont used frangrant shavings. CHIPSI Classic is example of good brand shaviings. but since you have small cage and if you GPs are not toilet trained, you have to put in mind that u need to replace the shavings regularly cos GP poo n pee alot...

pallet bedding is more recommended, its absorbs more moisture and wont mess around the cage coz its heavy. I now use BREEDER CELECT, its really reliable. and since its made of recycled paper, its very safe for GP...

yeah providing the best for gps are not cheap...i spend atleast rm100 a month for my gurls...they are giant-hay n pellet eater... happy.gif

dun give up ya, you can do it.

5 month old only SUITABLE to have baby BUT as early as 1 month ++ they are capable to get pregnant.. so do the male....

better safe then sorry.... if i were you, i wont take any chances....

1st : bigger house for them.... at least a 2 feet X 4 feet... (minimum size actually for 2 is 10.5Sqf roughly 2.2feet X 5 feet )

- if your cage small, then u will need to give them floor time, a time to roam around in a play pen... at least 2-3 hour / day..

- no wired bottom cage, if you cage is wired bottom, go to hardware shop n tell them u want plastic wire mesh.... or u can go to hypermarket n buy bathroom mat..

2nd: alfafa n timothy hay, if you can get bermuda grass is better

- feeding ration for hay, 70% alfafa and 30% timothy, until they were 6 months to 1 year old...

3rd: alfafa based pellets

- everyday must have full bowl

4th: vege & fruits.. very important

- best is lettuce, purple color or green one is okay, and baby carrots and cherry tomatos... besides that, please refer to a link that what you shud feed...
http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/diet-n...harts-info.html

5th: bedding

- no dust bedding... no pine and no scented means got lemon or wat so ever smell one...

and they are serious eat a lot of hay n pellets..

but i would like to switch their habits on eating hay > pellets > vege

to hays > vege > pellets

haha.. coz i feel that commercial pellets is never good enuff for piggy

if not ACCIDENTALLY pregnant how ar?

and it's not advisable to neuter a guinea pig...

the female will not suffer, but carrying a baby has risk just like human with baby..

hope i am not too harsh on you...

enjoy shopping tho...

and if you around pj sunway area, you can go to petshack to buy your things, and the shop keeper will be delight to help you. smile.gif

Added on January 2, 2009, 2:03 pmgive them time to get to know you, like you also, when u first day in a new school when you move to a new state, you will feel a lil sked and dont talk much with ppl, rite?

erm, if your mum have a fix time to vaccum, you can bring ur piggy out first to avoid the sound sked them...

if you dont have space then get 2 smaller cage lor, but give them more time to roam around in a big space lor....

or get a table / side cabinet to put the cage on top lor, so u still hv space to keep your things at the bottom.. smile.gif

or you care creative, you get a tall dog cage but separate them to 2 level.... so one on bottom on on the top....

or else, u refer to those forum n see their solution, they always have a good idea...

things is fix but your are flexible... you can do adjustment de...
