hi everyone...
i want to setup my new cage but need some advice from all of you icon_question.gif
what the best material to put for the base?before i use the wood base bedding.
can i use towel or anything else??
Pandan leaf?you mean we can plant this pandan tree in the cage or just the leaf??
rclxms.gif i'm still new in handling GP, hope you all can help rclxms.gif

maybe i can plant the pandan for my new cage thumbup.gif
*
Why kind of wood base bedding are you using? Woody? I personally put half folded newspaper on the cage floor and then i put in Breeder Celect as the bedding. Aother way i use is newspaper then fleece on top of it. Don't use towel, they have the threads on it.. particularly if your GP's nails are long, it could get stuck to the towel. laugh.gif

is anybody feed this to gp ???
i bought this from pets safari, and i wonder which 1 will be better for gp if compare with hagen pellets
shocking.gif

I personally havent tried this pellets.. But a lot of owners here i think would prefer hagen pellets. Hagen pellets are not so expensive too compared to others.

i have read the 1st page quite a bit but not seemed to pick up much differences in terms of caring a rabbit vs a guinea pig......... for example, both physically look diff of coz, but other than dat, nails gotta b clipped, gotta groom them, feed them pellets n hay, herbivous n give them vit c....

can any experienced owner here shed some light?
*
You can feel free to ask questions here.. things that you are un sure about.. Im sure all of us here can share some info with you blush.gif

Hi All, I feed my GPs with this brand since day 1 until now. Recently they changed the packing in2 a blk box. Well, price was increased (fr 21+ --> 25+) & net weight (fr 850g --> 800g??) as well rclxub.gif
I still got mine lastime, now a bit pricey 4 tis brand  hmm.gif

Bt it was a quality food, u cn smell the herb by urself when open it. Every morning, i open the food container, they wil wheek out loud & cnt wait 2 rush out fr cage... stuck their little head in2 the container & start eating doh.gif
Abt hagen pellet, it was a staple food 4 gp rite? coz it ez 2 find, feed, cn chew properly coz it bigger size.
Price oso damn reasonable  icon_rolleyes.gif I feed them as their dinner or I was away for long time.

Nv feed them with those hamster like food, inside all low quality seed, grains... I got brought a small pack 4 my hamster lastime. Guess wat, my hammies dun even like it at all. Bt since brought it cnt b wasted, so I mixed with other brands  rolleyes.gif

Animal was smart, they can tell u which which was gd or not.
Fresh vege cn b feed daily bt small portion was enuf aledi. They Superb love it!!! 1 minutes cn finished all~  drool.gif
*
Yes... this is a pricey diet for GP's >< once in a while can lah.. Hagen still best wub.gif

QUOTE(finch! @ Feb 10 2009, 11:31 PM)
since u guys been talking bout hagen pellets, i wanna ask something.

i'm using hagen pellets too for my GP. she was eating it alot. but since i've been handfeeding her carrots and fresh veggies, now i seldom see her jump into feeding bowl and eat the pellets. only when i put the fresh pellets, she will eat. not the old one. haih. should the pellet served fresh daily? how about the leftovers? should i throw out? :-s aiyo so rugi.

and one more thing. i'm using sun dried alfalfa for my GP. this is the same scenario also. she only eats the fresh one out of the plastic bag. and left those big big "dahan" of alfalfa behind. GP dont eat those big dried alfalfa dahan? only the small dried leafs (and the small dahan)?
*
Finch my GP's also like that smile.gif so dont pour too much.. estimate how much she will be eating. Usually when the pellets like got dust (from them chewing) they wont touch the pellets.. So throw smile.gif dont worry about rugi.. having a healthy GP is better ><

You can try mixing the alfalfa with some timothy, but more alfalfa than timothy (since she is still growing). Yes the dahan mine also dont eat XD picky buggers they are doh.gif But just make sure that there is hay stock 24/7. Hay usually they will finish.. doesnt matter old or fresh from the bag.. cheers laugh.gif

my gp keep "wheeking" blink.gif
but i have feed enough food to her, wats wrong with her? is she really starving or just wan to make noise har ? blink.gif  blink.gif
*
They basically like to wheek when they want you to give them food. Or in your case 'more' food XD There is nothing wrong with her, she just wants your attention and for you to give her fooodddiieee hahahhahahah. Make sure you got sufficient hay @ the hay rack, pellets must be there always.. Maybe she wants fresh food brows.gif

Taken from the front page of this thread~

Wheeking
Wheeking is aimed at us humans, 'feed me now please'. If its veggie time, if you only have to pass their cage and they tell you 'where are you going?, its feeding time mum'. If they hear anything that sounds suspiciously like food might be coming, they will also start a chorus of wheeks. Even closing the back door signals some lovely fresh grass might be on its way or opening the fridge door

maybe i should try to add more veggie into her diet menu XD~~~
i take it out from cage and put on my tummy every night XD, she keep kacau me when i m paying attention on tv program or other things, keep bite my clothes and "push" my hand =_= jealousy pet omg
i m looking a mate for her now, any pet shop intro ? blink.gif
my gp do the same when i put him in my bedroom XD
*
You have to survey properly if buying from pet shop sad.gif some pet shops have really good and healthy GP's some are the other way round.

I remember going into petsmore somewhere in klang.. or was it another shop blink.gif ok the point was... she had 2 abys (still baby) mixed in with rabbits in a cage blink.gif blink.gif the 2 fella so scared.. the rabbits were definetly bigger than them. so they sat at the corner sad.gif They really dont look healthy. I asked why put together with rabbit.. she say boss say.. dont waste cages. WTF? shakehead.gif i asked her what breed also she dunno.. summore want to sell for RM68 ><

so need to be careful if buy from petshop.. we can't just simply recommend, its better you go into the field and find your next pet wub.gif Take your time surveying.. no harm.. i like to take my family pet shop spree every weekend >< go see here see there.. waste money here waste money there.. LOL!

Goodluck xiawa! ^^

Diarrhea is when the poo is watery, gooey and runny.. that is diarrhea.. I think yours is fine.. Maybe because the poo was still wet?

Good foods for guinea pigs to eat are: apples, bananas, pears, strawberries, grapefruit, honeydew melon, kiwis, tangerines, yellow plums, oranges, watermelon, grapes, lemons, cauliflower leaves, broccoli, turnips, peppers, parsley, red beets, cucumbers, celery, spinach, tomatoes, and zucchini.
Bad foods for guinea pigs to eat are: Iceberg lettuce, all varieties of green cabbage, chinese cabbage, cauliflower, and red cabbage.
Poisonous foods for guinea pigs to eat are: Potato peelings and raw beans. As for the actual potato, there has been some confusion about whether they are or aren't poisonous to guinea pigs. To be on the safe side, I would suggest not feeding your guinea pig potatoes. (From the 1st page)

Today just bath my GPs.  Trimmed their nails and teeth.

I think my female Peruvian is possibly pregnant.    Hopefully this time is true...it is so difficult to get my Peruvian babies, no wonder in the market is so few.  Here is her picture, now her fur quite long already.  The male is also same color marking like her.  Oooo....Keeping my figure cross, hopefully I could succeed in breeding my Peruvian.
