Hey guys, any recommend brand for gp staple food? Bside than hay & pellet.

I got 2 gp, they can finished whole pack of food in abt 1 mth (850g).
Izzit normal? They seem like hungry all the time.

Their meal set= Lots hay, 1 meal of staple / dry food, another meal of pellet + vege...

normal...miko can finish 2.7kg pellet within 1.5 mths

Wat pellet u feeding them? Is it hagen? It kinda big size 4 them 2 bite...

i m feeding hagen gp pellet...prefer to get bigger size pellet so tat they can bite it...n chew it....

hagen pellet is quite big size, for chewing, unlimited timothy hay must be feed, only hay can provide the gnawing and trimming purpose.

How much is a gp cost in market now??

Yaya, agree w/ Chincillas
My both gp superb love ur hay, they can chew & eat all of them & w/out any leftover on next day
They will eat leaves 1st, then chew the hays later (for supper I guess, haha~)

N I cn see their fur was getting better & nice too. My abby was brought at C4, she used 2 looks thinny & fur quality was so-so only. Bt now she growing better & fur texture even cn compare 2 my sheltie

Somemore, their poo was solid too, ez 4 me 2 pick-p & clean it.
Wont stop feeding hay, it was the main meal 4 them now.


Btw, I found tt Sluis was better than Prestige (brand), coz inside got Omega 3 & a nice herb smelling too
Bt dunno y it was hard 2 find it, any supporter here?

Price range was start at $25-$85++ (according 2 above breed), some even more higher if gd quality & breed.
Mayb other forumer cn xplain more details, haha~

All depends ur budget & ur prefer.
Im sure all of them cn b a lovely pet 2 u

Added on December 12, 2008, 12:06 pmGlad to hear your GP is eating lot of hay, timothy + alfalfa is very very basic need of combination of feeding hay to your GP. You can get some Bermuda or orchard grass as well, they will enjoy the variety of hay and eat even more, eat more = healthy disgestive system = healthy GP!

I like Chinchilla and Ferret too, but these 2 are more high maintenance pet than GP. In fact GPs consider high maintenance if you were to compare with hamster. I already have too many pets too take care, hence do not want to add some more high maintenance pets to my collection. May be someday I may buy Chinchilla. It is really cute especially after seeing Crazymouse's chin.

any tips on how to litter trained them?

You have how many guinea pig? young or adult? 500gram can last you a months or 6 week for young GP. Litter train tip can be found Here

i hv 2 young guinea pig.
just bought them about a week.

if young then feed alfalfa hay + timothy hay, is good for them. should last less then a month if their eating lot of hay.
