Well, if you cancel your wrong answer in say like Paper 2 for science subjects then where are you gonna find space to write?
It's ok if its on the test pad but for questions with limited space for answers, it would be a problem then sweat.gif

Ya i understand.. but that is how it is understood and written in the rules and regulation. Worst come to worst, I would say is moral, whereby the essay paper, you cannot ask for more paper.

Stickers? Anyone?
Even so, the rules said any liquid correcter can't be used,
who bloody cares? It's the whole nation you're talking.

Yeah. Did that for PMR and got straight As so I don't think they will go penalizing you just cuz you used liquid paper/correction tape.

mrsm students do get soalan bocor. but how they dont get straight A's baffles me. So much for boarding school..
study 24/7 (unlike ppl from normal sch everyday dota), good teachers, facilities,use cheat, but result still sux

in addition, they often hide textbooks in the toilet and nobody checks on them even though they
ask to be excused to the toilet like 10 times during an exam.

sauce: former mrsm students told me.

are you serious?? omg... what kind of exam is this??

Ya, what I mean is SPM is your future here as a Malaysian. PMR you get T/D also nobody cares.

Added on November 5, 2008, 11:35 pm@vick5821,

Here's your hint to solve:

S4 = 24
--- what do you understand by this? What is the formula for Sum of terms?

T1 + T3 + T5 + T7 + T9 = 55

---

It should be substitution method.

Not really actually. Just for scholarships that is. Whats more important is pre-u and undergraduate programmes. That will determine what you will do in life/your real future etc.

That's how I see it anyways tongue.gif

But the liquid paper is a really stupid reason to go penalizing your marks. If they don't want ppl to use them, then might as well ask everyone to use pencil instead. Save the trouble.

QUOTE(vick5821 @ Nov 5 2008, 11:02 PM)
pls help me tis

An arithmetic progression has 9 terms. Th sum of the the first four terns is 24 and the sum of all the odd number terms is 55. Find the common difference and the first term
how to do
*
My solution :

S4 = 24

4/2[2a+3d] = 24

4a + 6d = 24

Take note : Sum of all ODD NUMBER TERMS, for example T1,T3,T5......

Therefore,

a + (a + 2d) + (a + 4d) + (a + 6d) + (a +8d) = 55

5a + 20d = 55

There you go, u've already got two simultaneous equations

1. 4a+6d = 24
2. 5a + 20d = 55

Just substitute the values in biggrin.gif

a = 3, d = 2

what is meant by odd number term..not T1 =4, T2 = 7 then we take T2 meh?

ODD NUMBER = 1,3,5,7,9

Tn = a + (n-1)d

Sub n with 1,3,5,7,9

you'll get a + (a + 2d) + (a + 4d) and so on

Bah, no time debate over things like this.
The preference of correction:
1)Canceling
- Save time
- Take ups space

2)Liquid Paper
- Take time to dry (might forget to rewrite the liquided part)
- Gel ink will smear.

3) Correction tape
- Lousy brand tape may end up the tape sticking to the next page
- Gel ink might smear depending on brand.
- Save time

4) Stickers
- Save time
- Neat
- Cannot stack too many times

Depending on what to use, use your brain. Thank you.

@vick
The method I do is kinda clumsy, my tuition teacher told me a better method, but I've forgotten.

1st step
24 = 4/2 (2a - 3d)
12 = 2a + 3d
a = 6 - 3/2(d)

2nd step
55 = T1 + T3 + T5 + T7 + T9
55 = a + a + 2d + a + 4d ...... (lazy type laugh.gif , the 1st line should have explained)
55 = 5a +20d
a = 11 - 4d

3rd step (solve simultaneously)
11-4d = 6 - 3/2(d)
22-8d = 12 - 3d
10 = 5d
d = 2
a = 3

even we able to use correction tape,it is still very risky.Since our paper been send to other state by using van or maybe airasia..lol

But you must know our answer paper is trap together with other calon,just scare at the middle the correction tape start to hilang or the pencil also mean you kantoi..

erm, ask yourself, what's an odd number?

odd number = 1,3,5,7,9........ right?

so odd number term = T1, T3, T5, T7, T9.....
