Yes logically I need not pay any tax. But like Djinn said, it's Malaysian custom and I'm going through DHL - if I dispute this, it could drag out another 3 or 4 days and who knows what might happen to the unit? I'd rather just pay them and save the trouble.

Alternatively, you could always drive down to Singapore, go through the entire process and then drive back up to Singapore again a week or so from the date you send it in.

It cost about RM90 for the toll from KL to Singapore and back, about 20SGD just to top up a cash card coz you do need to park afterall and about 14 hours your time and let's forget petrol which cost about RM140 (return trip x 2 with Vios as a reference). The total cost will come to about the same as having it couriered down.

mistaken a pc motherboard as some hi-fi chip board www... taxed!

and don't waste your time to explain shit with them.. as i said.. impossible to gauge. just ask how much. w

their stupidity is impossible to gauge sometimes.. www... they look more like blood suckers to me rather than checking illegal item.

if you carry thing and walk over, put them in a plastic bag or don't put your x360 in the x360 box.. put them in a carry bag what.. just don't let your stuff too eye catched. I learned a few trick after some hard lesson. seriously it's not like we're taking illegal stuff and walk cross over.. it just no matter how you explain to them..they will bring your iq to their level.. then you will rather not talk to them, waste your breath w. sometimes i wonder how they get employed even w.

In the middle of this year I went to singapore. When I came back to Malaysia, of course I had to pass through the customs. The officer in-charge asked if we have anything to declare and of course we said no and the officer just let the whole bunch of us pass through.......

I should've smuggled explosives and weapons.

i heard this 3rod is one of ms strategy to beat the sales of wii or ps3.. 3rod is makin that guy richer n richer...

well, not consider repair, more like exchange a refurbish set, or a brand new. luck is required. At least 10 above

the thing is about Malaysian Kastom, is that there is no rules and regulation for Console Games..(mention console only) thats why they can simply tax.

and if you want the legal way to do it, you have to declare the item above that you bring over. With malaysian paper, malaysian reciept and etc etc. (trust me.. a lot of work) very hassle.

haha.. watch out, you really never know when you can kena tax sometimes..

they have to paid 1 billion dollars for the extended warranty for all 3 RROD. (Replacement, Refurbish etc etc)

so.. do Microsoft Getting Richer ? OR are they Losing Money.

If we were to courier the item, how do we show the papers?

I just declared that the item as S$339.00 as this is the price on internet for xbox360arcade.....

Should have put it as "RMA item" and like what my conpany did -- Put price as USD1.00.....

the best that like you mention put as RMA item. Don't put the value too low sometimes. They will check also.. And hope they let you pass.

Btw, putting RMA item and the following: "Returned from Warranty: Not for resale and no commercial value" does absolutely nothing. I had those printed out in large bold letters and they still tax me. But I suppose it's also how much you have it declared when it's being sent back - to me, it's better to be safe than sorry - If it gets lost in transit or damaged in the process, you can always claim back from courier company. If you declare it as USD1 and something happens in transit then......

The point is, if you're an end-user planning to courier it down - it's better to declare full value but if you're in the business like Djinn then it doesn't apply

Anyways, Malaysia customs only want money, you can always dispute and that would mean delays and god knows what they will do to your unit during this time.

ok. I declared it as Arcade value...and I only send the empty console....Now a bit regret coz they actually want my friend to test it out and tell the symptoms.....

However, the console still in MY....

The process is a no brainer leh - they will ask you very standard questions.

1. Owners info - obviously must register under your friend's name in SG.
2. Console serial number
3. What the problem is - just describe that the unit flashes 3 red rings when you power on.
4. What is the color of the power brick when the console flashes 3 red rings, you have to say green
5. The wattage on your power brick, either 205 or 175 - so you gotta check

That's it. They will then give your friend a ref number and tell him to pick up a refurb unit in a week or so and turn in the bad unit on the day itself.
