QUOTE(Jcsy @ Nov 19 2008, 04:22 PM) Yep, Falcon set. RRODed after 10 months and I don't even play it a lot. If it RRODs one more time, I'm definitely going to sell the damn machine and get a PS3 instead.

Bought it early this year, so also about 10 months or so old. I do play it alot though, 2-3 hours on weekdays and up to 4-5 hours on weekends. It's being repaired at the moment, but if it RRODs again, yeah, I'll switch to PS3

Mine is Falcon, 7 months old, and 3rod. Fixed it myself... so far so good. Will definitely buy again if it completely dies, because I already have a PS3.

Guys, please state the manufacturing date of your falcons. It seems like only the earlier versions are affected.

7-10 months ago, falcon sets should be the earlier batches
our later batches havent even reach 7 months onwards
so im guessing newer falcons is just about time

Since I sent it to my friend in Singapore to help me claim warranty, I expect to get a refurb unit back sometime before Christmas.
My patience wears thin with Microsoft. I have no issues if their console is problem free but as it is, the reliablility is down the drain and what's worse, it's not even officially supported here in Malaysia so there's absolutely no after sales service or support to speak off. So getting it repaired means you either get someone to xclamp it for you or replace the graphic chip or find some way to send it down to Singapore which is a pain in the a$$.
I play but have to worry about RROD each time I turn the machine on, and that really spoils the entire xbox ownership experience.

yeap..if only xbox 360 is official here..i think there will be more support for original gaming..but for now..non-modded console also need to spend $$$ to claim warranty which makes no difference for those who is using modded console..both users also need to spend $$$ whenever there is rrod

QUOTE(ksleong88 @ Nov 18 2008, 10:54 PM) I use to lay it flat and have 2 DC powered 12v fans blow into the side to cool it and have a intercooler mounted at the back to suck out all the hot air. So far been working well as when i touch the console it feels warm not hot as some say it would be. Also its in my room and its AC everytime im in the room so room temperature is always cool. Now its vertical with a fan stand at the bottom and intercooler at the back. How do you guys place yours, vertical or horizontal? Wonder which is best. I tried these two ways before.. the casing near x-clamp area is not so hot when i put it vertically, but problems during reading disc.. So, I would like to put it horizontally, and stick a piece of graphite heat spreader that i get it from my notebook underneath, to reduce the temperature of x-clamp area. For me, it helps... And i just use my hand to sense the heat (before and after)...

I will be getting mine back from Singapore next Tuesday - process was relatively simple emailed MSFT singapore, got a service number - sent my xbox to my friend in Singapore via DHL (RM150 courier charge) and another 65SGD customs charge on my friend (I declared the unit at RM1950 value) - had him call MSFT in Singapore which he was kept on hold for 45 minutes ;( and was told to bring the unit in a week later in exchange for a refurbished falcon set. Now, I wonder how much customs will charge me when it arrives in Malaysia :/ It's a lot of work just to claim warranty

Well, I got my xbox360 back from Singapore. They gave me an October 2007 unit. I'm like whatever, as long as it works. The custom clearance came to a sum of RM113.11 (declared USD155).
Hopefully, no more problems from now on.

QUOTE(pmsoo @ Dec 9 2008, 03:19 PM) Hhmm.. how did you get taxed? It was couriered over? Courier via DHL, hence I had prepared in advance a non-commercial invoice declared at USD155 for the unit (exclude all power cables and accessories).

As far as i remember, warranty item has no tax.
Did you show the warranty letter that Microsoft issue after the replacement.
Although i carry it back by hand, they did disturb me but with the letter, they just let me go?
Added on December 9, 2008, 5:36 pmLogic is that you ALREADY paid for the tax when you bought the item. You should not need to pay the tax again
