QUOTE(eltaria @ Nov 7 2008, 11:32 AM) The economics of trading? Easy ...if I expect market to continue dropping, I would sell at a loss today to buy back at a lower price tomorrow.Actually, I want to understand more on the logics of the traders here. In the last few months we have seen shares dropping 30%+ of the top If so, why would people keep selling their shares? Assuming some sold their shares at 30% discount back then, the buyers of those shares SL at 5% and so on, we can safely say that sellling shares now or at further discount will result in the law of diminishing return for the profit takes and further losses for the sellers. In such a case, it's illogical for trades to continue is it not? As warren buffett says, the brokerage fees for certain counters is higher than the total annual net profit that the company makes. We're paying 1 billion in brokerage fees, for a company that makes 1 million. For example, one of those counters would be huaan I assume. The volume of trading is huge, but I doubt the entire net profit is equivalent to it. Strangely odd, but there u go.. Or could be that other stocks that I'd wanted to buy, that was expensive back then, has fallen more than the stocks I'm holding now. Or I have to liquidate my stocks even at a loss because of my other commitments, e.g bills, etc. Of course there's always the force-sell from contra. Added on November 7, 2008, 1:09 pm QUOTE(eltaria @ Nov 7 2008, 10:54 AM) Adam, there're some of us who does appreciate your thoughts and sharing. If you missed it, I have already said that my post wasn't meant for AdamG but to forummers who listened blindly and got caught. I never said that he's no good at predictiong or blame him. I myself consider his forecasts, when I trade contra. In the end it's up to the individual to decide on what to do with their own money. All of us who trades should know this golden rule. If not, their losses is simply due to their own mistake one which they should learn and eliminate, and we all would know better than to be blaming anyone for it. wirelessdude, as a long time trader urself, you should know this too. There's lots of news report, and brokerage buy, hold, sell advices too. That's just the way it goes. Now, if AdamG is so sensitive, can't understand my explanation and merajuk just because of one post then that's up to him. This is a forum and everyone's entitled to his/her opinion - I'm just exercising my rights. You know I've played futsal with Vijay once (owner of Lowyat) and even he isn't that cocky. Anyway, like I said - let's move on! This post has been edited by wirelessdude: Nov 7 2008, 01:11 PM |

I think one should profit from the vast 15 years of Adam in US markets. And Dow at this point of time is still commanding the world markets.
Though you may read reports about US here and there all over the internet, but up to date interpretations are as important, and fast for decision makings. And it is not easy to get a good person likes Adam to lead us, and sharing info with us. There are many good circuit breakers here to stop us from going overboard too. And if forumers do not heed the advices from these circuit breakers, they themselves would have to be blamed. Just my 2sen opinion. Take your own risks. QUOTE(panasonic88 @ Nov 7 2008, 11:39 AM) Just based on experience from the market especially from the pattern of trade. Actually deep inside, I have feeling we probably had experienced the worst of the market (70-80% of chance), just left some sting at the tail end. Now even DJ down 500 points, Asian markets only give face in the early morning only. Then the rest of the day, moves on its own already. Those weak sellers in the market probably has been flushed out already, as well as those need to deleverage down one, so left not many aggresssive sellers. Having said that, there is remote chance of bull market coming back. Relief rebound probably is the word to describe, but definitely not a bull run. It is much healthy for market to trade sideway for a period of time. But next year CNY, we probably will have a mini-run up. Just my guess. Trade at your own risk. |

Don't really trust today's market - still kinda risky for me. Think I'll take profit this afternoon from this morning's buy.
