Ah, fun times, those. I remember damentz (Liquorix kernel dev) throwing fits on Debian mailing lists and his personal blog everytime he got flamed by Sidux admins. TBH, the current Aptosid team (with a few exceptions) are equally accomplished at being utterly arrogant assholes. Must be a German thing, I guess. Still, they do produce decent kernels and scripts, so credit where it's due.

Version 8 of ExTiX is based on Debian Sid. Version 8 of ExTiX comes in two flavors. One of 690 MB with LXDE "The Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment" (and Xfce4 (4.6.2), Awesome and Fluxbox) and one of 1200 MB with KDE 4.5.3 - "A powerful graphical desktop environment". Language support: English and Swedish. Default locale/language is English.

ExTiX (version 8) is thus based on Debian Sid and nothing else. I e there is no elements of Ubuntu or Linux Mint (or any other Linux System). ExTiX therefore differs from for example Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE) and DebEX-LMDE.

I have testing KDE version (and replace repo to debian testing one). ExTiX installer support locate ms_MY and many language. The problem is no english support forum, log-out first before reboot/shutdown.

Illume OS is based on Debian GNU/Linux 6.0 “Squeeze”. It features the IceWM window manager. Applications included are – the Midori web browser, AbiWord word processor, Gnumeric spreadsheet program, Exaile audio player, MPlayer media player, Xzgv image viewer, Leafpad text editor, Evince PDF Reader, Thunar file manager, GIMP Image Editor, and so on... Thanks to Wine, you could run your Windows programs on Illume OS, plus, with the Windows Wireless Drivers manager, you could install Windows wireless drivers at anytime. It's fantastic to run on old machines which you plan to throw out (save the environment, stop flinging your computers out of the window). The name “Illume” means light up.

From website and review, Otaku base from Ubuntu, remove Gnome, then install KDE4. Same like NetRunner. The result is Ubuntu remaster full with unused Gnome orphan here and there.

On a side note, Linux Mint KDE dev have trouble making kubuntu Mint remaster.
