Dude, that angle still that CLEAR???  drool.gif  gosh..!!! that's killer..!!  shakehead.gif

This DELL 2209WA requires some major tweaking, the 'out-of-the-box' settings seriously sucks. And there's noticable decline of quality compared with others IPS panels eg: S-IPS, AS-IPS & H-IPS

It doesn't have the purplish hue that S-IPS panels have when viewing at certain angle. e-IPS is definitely the lowest end of the IPS family.

erm... Samsung 2233SW at RM 560 only.

Added on February 6, 2009, 11:17 pm

Then how much will a Dell 22" e-IPS LCD monitor cost?

Compared HP W2228H and Dell S2409W, which give smoother and vibrant display?

Cause i saw a demo of Samsung 2233SW and the quality wasn't great (could be resolution)

RM949 according to DELL website. You get a premium panel with height adjustment, able to pivot and swivel the LCD, and has 4 USB ports.

Guys, wanna ask. Are there any other brands besides HP for those glossy, reflective-type screens? Looking for a 24" one, please recommend some to me.
*
Let me know your budget, there are some NEC 24" that has that glossy screen you like, with H-IPS panel. But it costs somewhere around 3k.

Not more than rm1.5k. HP ones are around that price, but I'd like to know if there are alternative brands.
*
Not that I known of. I could be wrong. The HP looks great though.

For HP W2228H, other than dust and too glaring due to florescent light problem. Is a great LCD to use right?
*
IMHO, it depends on individual. For me, I have been working with IPS panel since yrs ago, whenever I look at a TN panel I can tell the color reproduction is not that good as well as the viewing angle, especially when you view from bottom. I can never use a TN panel.

My advice to you is, test the monitor out yourself, if you're comfortable with it, just get it. It doesn't matter what other feels about the monitor.

I'm going to break this down for you, since I'm in a good mood today. rclxms.gif

HP w2228H vs DELL Ultrasharp 2209WA

1) Glossy vs Matte (Glossy looks good to certain people but the reflection is really annoying for me)
2) Build in speaker vs no speaker (But will you be using it, the speaker quality sucks)
3) TN panel vs e-IPS panel (You get better viewing angle and better color for e-IPS)
4) HP warranty ?? vs DELL 3 yrs warranty (DELL warranty is better compared to HP, doorstep pickup and swap for you)
5) HDMI input vs no HDMI input (If you need HDMI input, get the HP)
6) DELL 2209WA's stand is more solid compared to HP w2228H
7) 2x USB ports vs 4x USB ports
8) DELL's premium panel guarantees you a free replacement even with 1 stuck/dead pixel.
9) DELL costs extra RM50

Hope it helps you decide.

what about response time for dell? is it 6ms?

Btw where to purchase Dell UltraSharp 2209WA other than its website. Can i get it from LYP?
*
I can say you can forget about the response time. There isn't any standard in measuring response time. A manufacture can say it is 2ms, it could be more, it could be less. The technical paper says it is 5ms, it did not state weather it is G2G or BWB. You should not worry about response time. I don't know if lowyat has this LCD, but I advice you to buy online because they will ship it to your doorstep, and any problem later they will RMA for you using your registered address during purchase.

You can also get the HDMI to DVI converter if your LCD doesn't have HDMI.

it's dead pixel, I have 2 of them on the screen (which just sucks), I have tried rubbing it  but it didn't work, do you think the shop which i bought my lcd would replace it since i only have 2 dead pixels?
*
Dead pixel is unfixable, the rubbing method only works with stuck pixel. Try exchanging it from the shop you bought it from. -1 for Samsung.

Dude thanks for ur explaination on the HDMI cables.. notworthy.gif
very professional explaination...
so...my question to u is....
do PC users need to care about that so much...since most monitors doesnt even have speakers...
i know it is still good to have it....jus wondering its usefulness if it doesn't have any speakers...

Woah..AURA..u definitely have a super computer there !!
my estimate is...it worth more than 12k  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif

HDMI on a PC LCD is important for some users, imagine you have a PS3 and you are hooking it up to the monitor. At the same time, you have a PC as well, and you want to hook up to that monitor too. So the PS3 can hook up via HDMI and the PC via DVI. If you use a converter for PS3, you will end up hooking up your PC using analog.

If you plan to use the LCD solely for PC, then HDMI is not important at all.

Guys,

Whenever/whichever LCD you gonna buy, bear this in your mind : RETURN POLICY. Ask as many questions as you can on the return policy they have because LCD monitor (TN/MVA/PVA/IPS/E-IPS/S-IPS/H-IPS) tend to have stuck/dead pixel(s) on the display EASILY.

I returned 2 NEC 2690 and 2 Planar 26" LCD monitor back to the online retailer due to the stuck/dead pixel(s) on the panel.

As for the type of the that panel you need. My 2 cents : TN panel : Nice to have to play fast pace and online games with no lagging. As for watching TV/Movie/HD-DVD/Blu Ray, color reproduction is a bit wash out when you view from different angle. TN is good to have for daily normal daily usage like web surfing, checking emails, online chatting etc.... No suitable for graphic work.

As for MVA/PVA : Nice to have to play strategy games. Lagging on the fast pace gaming. Watching movies is nicer, color reproduction is much more better than TN panel but not as good as IPS panel.

Finally, IPS panel, no questions about this panel that the color is superb no matter which angle you view it. Nice to have to watch movies and play strategy game. The only complaint on this type of panel is its tiny lagging. If you are doing a lot of graphic work, photo editing and web programming, IPS panel is your right choice.

I'm afraid it's not smooth as I'll be using it for Design work also...

Thx bunch...

Never use a TN panel if you're a professional designer or designing is a part of your career. The color is not accurate.
