Yes they can sue u if they want, but normally they wont coz it will be wasting alot of time for them..
They will rather find another person to take the position. |

this is what i did last time, just tell the one who recruit me with the nicest way as possible. i told them a better offer just sprung up... also gave him a decline letter just to be formal. he also know it's a competitive industry we're in. i
might reconsider tho, if he outbid the other offer |

QUOTE(callmepaper @ Oct 30 2008, 09:59 AM) I don't think lestat was greedy. He had to courtesy and conscience to tell the employer and even gave a formal letter. Depending also on work performance, I might have considered offering lestat more ... given that there are way too many people out there who show no form of dedication or conscience at all. "I don't feel like it" and poof. Sure, some employers are plain nuts but two wrongs don't make a right. All it does is to escalate society's downfall as we race one another to see who can go lower. |

Normally HR will release you immediately. Reason is simple enough, do you want to hire an employee that you know he/she will resign in one month time?

My advice will be always end in a good term. You can opt out anytime you want, even after you started with them. That's why you have "probationary" period. It works 2 ways.
Take time to fix an appointment to reject the offer and explain to them why. A good company will understand and the fact that they wanna employ you mean you have something they want. Maybe not this time, but who knows, when you progress you might ended up with this company again. |

Hi.. i encountered same issue early this month..offer letter signed however my current boss counter offered and same time accomodate my relocation request.
so i just inform the HR / hiring personnel honestly followed by an apology for the inconveniences caused..i reckon u need to do it quick n not delay any longer.. imo ur new emplyer will not want you with them if they have the slightest idea tt you have the intention of leaving the co even before commencement..better to have a no-show than turning up and throwing in ur resignation letter like what, say the 3rd day of you being there..? plus they wont take the time /spend money to sue you..they need to find someone to fill in ur position pronto guess HR will probably record down somewhere.. however even if they do, they'll probably discard it after a few years..its not like u r involved in fraud or stole co's $..no big deal, so dun worry here |

Did anyone happen to be sued by former company because you didn't abide the contract by giving notice period.

For my company, it's quite often where there's a person who signed the LO and did not turn up for work at the first day. we even need to call the person to ask for the absence reason.
It is better that you get back to them and ask whether they want their offer letter back or not as you already rejected them. If not, you are going to land yourself in hotsoup by adding a bad record to their database. |

Oh oh...guess i read this page too late. I was with a company for 4 months. Got sick of the manager and the job. Just left without informing them one month ago. Called up some colleague the next day to tell the superior i quit. Will i be facing any legal issue for not resigning properly?
What can i do now? Should i write a back dated resignation letter? |

You'll get blacklisted for sure.
Whether your company take legal action or not, it depends on many factor such as position etc etc . But I think mostly no. |

It's all about ethics and professionalism.
Atleast a certain degree of those qualities need to be practiced. |

But ended up to see the MG true face where she treat us like ROBOT doing a 10 different task at one. no objective no goal no priority. that was FUQ!! then on the 2nd month work for like 3 days and resign its very mentally and physically disturb tho, indirectly insult and pressure u, i was not given a proper training then scold me that i'm not alert at work. i wonder will they really go and sue me, and really take all that time consuming preparation than hiring a new employee. well it stated there "at least 2 months notice"..
