it means putting as the release gap between major version is becoming narrower and thus its now been seen every release as minor revision on top of the main ones

If I'm not much mistaken, Windows 7's final release will not use NT.

What are you crapping about? Windows releases starting from Windows XP were all using the NT kernel. Windows XP is NT 5.1, Windows Server 2003 is NT 5.2, Windows Vista is NT 6.0, Windows Server 2008 is NT 6.1, and Windows7 is also NT 6.1 hmm.gif IINM the only non-NT OS Microsoft was developing is Microsoft Midori which is a singularity OS based on managed .NET code.

Bro, I'm not sure about the final release of Windows 7 but from using Windows 7 Build 7000, it's NT 6.1. flex.gif

"ASUS CEO: Windows 7 touchscreen Eee PCs in mid-2009, $250 model on the way"

What does that mean ? Meaning Windows 7 release in mid-2009 ? Which means the 'alledged internal release date of June/July 2009' is real ?

oh wait... its just a rumor....

ASUS CEO is just going to release Eee PCs that support Windows7 multitouch, not that Windows7 is released in mid 2009...

Wow. Super misleading title... or maybe I read it wrongly...

So what use is releasing a PC that support Windows 7 when still no Windows 7 ?

... maybe just trying to prove to ppl that yeah, there are already Windows 7-capable machines

The touted feature for Windows7 is support for multitouch (where it missing from Windows Vista), so the Eee PCs that is going to be released in mid 2009 is suppose to have that feature, at that time, Windows7 might have reach Release Candidate 1, so you can still run the RC1 on it if you want or just wait for Windows7 to be RTMed.

There is no official system requirements available, but if you can run Windows Vista, expect to run Windows7 faster than Windows Vista. There's even stories peoples are installing the beta on Eee PCs, so you can guess what the requirement will be.

Windows 7 BETA requires less resources(if not mistaken) its because its not full yet(services and stuff). I have seen people running this with only 1GB RAM and actually smoother than Windows Vista nod.gif

Yes, Windows 7 Build 7000 requires much less resources when compared with Vista not because it's "not full" yet. I haven't seen people running Window 7 with 1GB of RAM but have tried running Windows 7 with 512MB of RAM. tongue.gif

That reminds me. We tried beta Vista on a 256MB SDRAM Pentium III machine and it was smooth two years ago lol.
