just wonder,if we use photofast 5400+2x micro sd.
.scare if got the same prob. sweat.gif memory(game, save data.themes etc2) corrupted.  as its shown magic gate unknown.
*
I've been using CR-5400 with 2x Sandisk 8GB MicroSDHC Class 6 for about 1 month+ till today no problems when I copy files in and out of it ~touch wood~

I think that the fake MSPD is using cheapskate memory chip compare to using branded memory.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MagicGate
QUOTE
MagicGate is a copy-protection technology introduced by Sony in 1999 as part of the Secure Digital Music Initiative (SDMI). It works by encrypting the content on the device and using MagicGate chips in both the storage device and the reader to enforce control over how files are copied.

It's a Digital Rights Management (DRM) thing. I think it won't affect the functions the memory card used in the PSP.

Hi guys,

I had received my CR-5400. I tried it with two 8GB Sandisk MicroSDHC. formatted it using PSP and it work great, but not too long. After an hour, I switch off the PSP. After that, when I switch back on my PSP, the orange LED light on the left kept blinking and the PSP won't boot nor switch off. I had to take out the battery.

I tried several times and finally it work once. I restarted my PSP and it won't work again. I took out the card to boot the PSP and then insert it into PSP again, the PSP can't detect it at all, I had to insert, take out, and insert it mutiple times until I get it working. Most of the times, when I load the game, the PSP would just hang after the Gameboot screen and the orange LED light will just keep blinking, and I had to take out the battery to shut it of again.

I had tried swapping the position of two cards, reformatting them using PSP mutiple times, using only Slot 1, but no avail, the chance my PSP detecting it is very slim (like 1 out of 10 reboot), and it hang a lot when launching game. I tried using my previous MSPD and it had no such issues.

So, could it be that the CR-5400 is faulty? I'm using PSP-2000.
*
Hm... Possible you got a faulty CR-5400. Better send back for warrany asap. Got test with another microsdhc? Or just 1 microshdc in the CR-5400?

guys just wanna ask what kind of high speed memory i should look out for ?
*
For PSP you can look at MSPD from Sony or Sandisk.

Heard Sandisk MSPD is faster than Sony MSPD.

Sony got MSPD MarkII but not sure about the performance though.

Sony more expensive than Sandisk.

I bought mine from Low Yat Plaza in All IT Hypermart.

It's the cheapest among the IT shops there.

Then should be the adapter is faulty. Better bring it back for warranty and hopefully get 1 on 1 exchange.

Yup! Depends. But that day not sure how All IT can sell Sandisk 8GB MicroSDHC Class 6 at RM89 whereas SriComp Selling RM110. And that time only this both shops have the Class 6 available.

if using 8Gb Sandisk MSPD for PSP will laggy when playing? Iheard someone said if using more memory may cause the game laggy. How much for the 8Gb or 16Gb?
*
No lag if using Sandisk or Sony 8GB MSPD. Will lag when you are using those fake 8GB MSPD because its using low grade & very cheap memory chips.

I've used before Sandisk 8GB M2 with MSPD adapter also not lag. Now using CR-5400 with 2x Sandisk 8GB MicroSDHC Class 6 also no lag.

You can go to SonyStyle and get PSP2000 for RM7xx.

Just bring to someone to install CFW for a small price.

QUOTE(Jasmine Chew @ Jan 6 2009, 03:26 PM)
hai...i just bought my psp version 2000. My currently firmware is 3.99 M33.

I tried to play some PSX games, however i need to download some software and change some setting in my psp in order to play those PSX games. Now here's my question, once i have changed the setting, will I be able to play back normal PSP games?

Secondly, is it possible to upgrade my firmware from 3.99 straight to 5.00 M33-4? Do i need this Pandora Battery(actually i have no idea about what is this pandora battery)..is like some ppl say i should have a battery load 78% when upgrading this firmware so that my psp wouldnt run out during the upgrade process...but can i like use my battery charger to do so?

Thanks for the advise.
*
Not sure about the settings as I rarely play PSX games. But you can upgrade to the latest CFW without the Pandora battery.

Playboy21 posted this steps:
Ok mate, there's no problem at all.You do not need to upgrade to any other firmware before upgrading to 5.00M33 as 3.71m33 is compatible with the installer. Here's a guide on how to do it :

Note : There have been many cases of bricks upon upgrade,so it's up to you to take the risk.Otherwise,it's all good.

Requirements :
1)A phat/slim psp which has custom firmware 3.52m33-3 or any firmware above it.
*Minimum requirement is 3.52m33-3*

Guide

1) First of all,you need to set your kernel to 3.xx/4.xx.You can do so in recovery mode or in your VSH menu (if you have the VSH addon plugin installed)

**Recovery : Hold the off switch for 3-5 seconds, then HOLD R and boot your psp up.Now go to configuration, and click X at the "Game Folder Homebrew" option until it displays as 3.xx/4.xx kernel.Example : On a 3.52m33-3/4 psp,it should show as 3.52 kernel.

2) Download the 5.00M33 installer here

3) Download the 5.00 eboot.pbp here

4) Use your preferred software to extract the 5.00M33 rar file. You should now get two folders (UPDATE and Translate) as well as a readme.txt file.

5) Copy the UPDATE folder and paste it in ms0:/PSP/GAME.

** It should now look like this : ms0:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE/eboot.pbp **

6)Time,for the 5.00 eboot (step 2).

7) Copy the 500.PBP and paste it in your ms0:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE directory.

** It should now look like this : ms0:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE/eboot.pbp and 500.pbp **

8) That's all, seriously. All you need to do now is to run the installer on your PSP.

** The installer will seem very official like, but don't worry, that's how it's supposed to be like **

9) Remember, once the update is over,PRESS X/O when it asks you to do so or your psp will brick!!

10) What else,enjoy!

thanks playboy21, however, the link you attached is CFW 4.01, so is it the same if i wana directly upgrade to 5.00 M33 from 3.99 M33 without getting to 4.01 M33 first?

waaaa......who can solve my 1st problem??!!! coz i wana play fear effect 2 which is a PSX game!!
*
It's the same steps but you need to get the files for 5.01. Have updated my reply above with the steps from him.

But you need to google for the 5.01 eboot file.

5.01m33-4 installer:

Actually you can upgrade from 3.5x and above.

I upgraded for a few friends without any problems. Just make sure you follow the instructions and get the 2 correct files.

hey want to know, what is the lowest market price possible for a genuine 4GB/8GB mspd ? I saw a LYN seller selling 8 GB for RM100, but earlier I received a PM from another seller selling legitimate mspd saying that RM100 can only buy 4 GB.

the trade enforcer seems didn't take any notice of that thread rolleyes.gif
*
Original Sandisk 8GB MSPD is selling about RM200+ in Low Yat Plaza. Sony is more expensive. Saw in SonyStyle selling RM379 for 8GB MarkII MSPD.
http://www.sonystyle.com.my/product/produc...roModel=MS-MT8G

Sandisk 8GB M2 with MSPD adapter is about RM125.

I think that 8GB for RM100 is fake MSPD but I thought someone is selling for RM80 for the fake MSPD in garage sales?

Yes it is easy to upgrade to 5.01m33-4 using that instructions. You follow the instructions and you will be fine and your PSP with the latest firmware too.

If you're still scared you can look for Lacus who provides this services for very cheap compare to you getting from those shops.

Already released. Hope this is not illegal here for posting the link to the CFW.

Here, the quick fix. wink.gif

5.00 M33-6
----------

This update is a try to fix memory stick low speed since 3.80.

Instructions: Copy UPDATE folder /PSP/GAME/ and run.

If you come from a version prior to 5.00 M33, put sony update as 500.PBP in same folder, or let the program download it for you using a wifi connection.

Changes in 5.00 M33-5:

- A setting has been added to recovery, that, when enabled it may increase memory stick reading speed. (only on the psp, not in the pc).
By default it is disabled. If you installed 3.71 fatmsmod, do not use this setting, as its perfomance with 3.71 driver has not been tested.
Instead, reinstall 5.00 m33-4 using dc8 and update to 5.00 m33-5

Changes in 5.00 M33-6:

- Fixed a bug that made unbootable psp without memory stick or with a bad one.

The included file fat_comparison.html contains a comparison of perfomance between the 5.00 fat driver, the 3.71 one, and the 5.00 one with the speed up hack during the read of an iso.
The test was done on the game Valkyrie Profile in cso format in march33 mode. Other games, modes and applications different than iso reading showed similar results.

There is fake Sandisk also being sold along with the fake Sony.

Cheapodude: Get Sandisk MSPD as it is cheaper and faster than Sony MSPD. Not sure about the Sony MarkII's speed though.

Also Sandisk have in agreement and license with Sony to produce the Memory Stick memories for Sony and themselves.
