hai...i just bought my psp version 2000. My currently firmware is 3.99 M33.

I tried to play some PSX games, however i need to download some software and change some setting in my psp in order to play those PSX games. Now here's my question, once i have changed the setting, will I be able to play back normal PSP games?

Secondly, is it possible to upgrade my firmware from 3.99 straight to 5.00 M33-4? Do i need this Pandora Battery(actually i have no idea about what is this pandora battery)..is like some ppl say i should have a battery load 78% when upgrading this firmware so that my psp wouldnt run out during the upgrade process...but can i like use my battery charger to do so?

Not sure about the settings as I rarely play PSX games. But you can upgrade to the latest CFW without the Pandora battery.

**Recovery : Hold the off switch for 3-5 seconds,then HOLD R and boot your psp up.Now go to configuration,and click X at the "Game Folder Homebrew" option until it displays as 3.xx/4.xx kernel.Example : On a 3.52m33-3/4 psp,it should show as 3.52 kernel.

2) Download the 5.00M33 installer here

3) Download the 5.00 eboot.pbp here

4) Use your preferred software to extract the 5.00M33 rar file.You should now get two folders (UPDATE and Translate) as well as a readme.txt file.

5) Copy the UPDATE folder and paste it in ms0:/PSP/GAME.

** It should now look like this : ms0:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE/eboot.pbp **

6)Time,for the 5.00 eboot (step 2).

7) Copy the 500.PBP and paste it in your ms0:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE directory.

** It should now look like this : ms0:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE/eboot.pbp and 500.pbp **

8) That's all,seriously.All you need to do now is to run the installer on your PSP.

** The installer will seem very official like,but don't worry,that's how it's supposed to be like **

9) Remember,once the update is over,PRESS X/O when it asks you to do so or your psp will brick!!

It's the same steps but you need to get the files for 5.01. Have updated my reply above with the steps from him.

But you need to google for the 5.01 eboot file.

actually i got the 5.00 M33-4 CFW oledi, just that some ppl said cannot jump from 3.99 to 5, some said can...

Actually you can upgrade from 3.5x and above.

I upgraded for a few friends without any problems. Just make sure you follow the instructions and get the 2 correct files.

u dont have to, popsloader is already included in 5.00 m33-4. it's just that some versions (3.0, 4.01 etc.) works better for certain games, u just have to extract the prx file (firmware file) and put it into a folder in your memory stick. then hold the [R] button while booting the game to change the version. usually it's not needed because 5.00 supports are quite good. more info if u like.
