poisoning GTR's indeed.

I wished AA did the drilled disc brakes on the GTR. Was shocked when i got my pearl white GTR and realized the discs wasn't drilled through just like those AP racing disc on older subaru rally cars.

Guess need to drilled D.I.Y. style.

akid : Very nice & cool AA clock.... thumbup.gif

Anyway, some news update from Maisto.... sweat.gif

Maisto buys HUMMER® in all-cash deal !!!

Die-cast and radio-control toy manufacturer Maisto roared into the full-size vehicle market on Wednesday, announcing that it has agreed to acquire the HUMMER division of General Motors Corporation, one of the sector’s top players.

Financial terms were not released. But Dewey Cheatem, the senior director of mergers and acquisitions at Maisto, said in an interview with CFN News that the Fontana, Calif.-based company has agreed to pay all cash for HUMMER, and expects the deal to close this week.

Privately held Maisto is making the leap from manufacturing a wide variety of HUMMER toys and models to the real thing. “It’s really very simple,” said chief designer George Tirebiter, “we already have HUMMER tooling in 1:14, 1:16 and other scales — all we need to do is scale them up to 1:1 size and we’ll have the most powerful and lightest weight SUVs on the planet.” He is confident that Maisto will be able to build the HUMMER H3T, for example, at only a fraction of the weight and cost of the current ones. The 1:16 Maisto R/C toy weighs about two pounds so multiplied by 16 to the full size it would tip the scales at 32 pounds. With its electric drive it should accelerate to 60 mph in about three seconds.

Distribution will change also. Deals are already in place for major “big box” stores already selling Maisto models to carry the new full-size vehicles as well. Production is expected to begin this summer with the 1:1 items in stock this October.

JtuneD,

that was an excellent piece from Maisto ! I normally trawl through the papers to see who can come up with the most beleivable story - and that one was pretty funny considering it could actually come true rclxms.gif

Great thread here, guys. Learned quite a bit about the difference between the makes from this thread.

Looking to get into this hobby so since I saw from the opening post that there are shops in Atria, I went to check it out.

Saw that they only have AutoArt, Minichamps, the other high-end makes, so I asked the guy if they carry budget ones like Bburago and Maisto. The guy laughed like I said the most ridiculous thing and said no. Haha, they're really that bad, huh?

Looking to get an Audi R8 but I only saw Maisto die-casted ones online. Don't really know which high-end companies produce R8. Any help, guys?

Welcome to the thread bro and enjoy your stay.

Too bad that Nikko is pulling the plug, and closing down very soon. Was inform by my friend who owns the shop.
Guess we just have to resort to evil bay then to get new and old diecast.

You could try Kyosho's R8 bro. Its quite a good piece indeed. Me i am still waiting for other colours to be released.

Checked out the website. Very, very nice indeed. Thanks for the recommendation. Trying in vain now to scour the web for a white one.

Thanks a lot dude. By the way, do you know if the stores in the Bukit Bintang area are well stocked in 1:18 AA models? Wanna be sure before I make the trip to KL. I also saw that you actually order quite a few online. Don't they get taxed by customs?
