QUOTE(dingolon @ Jul 12 2009, 07:40 PM) Same here, I park out side my shop, ppl just come and see and touch..car is full of finger print. The funniest thing is, this ppl like to knock the car.... They may think this car make from coca cola tin ?? One question to ask, when the fuel warning light on already, how long more can we drive ?? Cos I see mine the thefuel warning light on, there is still one "box" to go then only empty.. When fuel warning light turn on, you will have 70~100km(by quite acurate measurement) to go depends on yr driving habbit. For the safe side, only try 70km. Just a clue, when you off the engine, look at the pointer position. This is the position the car really no fuel, so when you are driving and see pointer at this position, you car will stop any time. I had a Proton b4, when the pointer go beyond the empty bar, still can go for some distance. So, I thought Eastar is the same. But not for Eastar, empty means empty and it will stop...the meter reading is very acurate. I had the experience b4. When the pointer pointed at empty, I drove toward petrol station and so happened it stop exactly at the station, no joke!! When it is empty, no way you can start the car...never try yr luck! Now, whenever the fuel warning turn on, I will mark down the milage to make sure I am heading to petrol station b4 70km ended. I will never give another try! Hehe! Hey, how abt putting a sign..." don't knock me, I am very fregile!" hehe! |

Added on July 14, 2009, 8:59 am QUOTE(darthkir @ Jul 14 2009, 08:50 AM) One more thing, I was told that the 2nd row seat is one piece. Can it be moved to the front to provide access to the 3rd row seat? Nope! The 2nd row is split; each can fold and move fore & back. 3rd row(also split) can be easily accessible. Can always check it out at yr nearest showroom. This post has been edited by smliu: Jul 14 2009, 08:59 AM |

QUOTE(darthkir @ Jul 14 2009, 10:30 AM) I have checked it. The seat floor is 1 piece, but the back rest is 2 pieces. I forgot to test whether it can be moved fore & back or not. Can u advise me what is the total km i can get for rm50 town driving? Maybe we are talking abt different row. Town drive is estimated 25cents depend on driving habbit; so RM50 can get around 200km. |

QUOTE(zeromania @ Jul 14 2009, 02:09 PM) All, i heard that there's a magnetic ring that need to be inserted on the fuel pipe (not sure which location of fuel pipe) & claimed that can save to 40% of fuel consumption without impacting the car performance i saw one magnetic ring cost around RM100 & 2.0cc above need to use 4-5 rings. This was a news topic in Png during the oil crisis. Magnet induces the fuel and acts as atomizer so that the fuel will combust completely. Now a day, fuel injection system is very efficient and control by ECU. The fuel is very well atomized by this injection system. Hence magnet couldn't help much. When magnet is applied to engine with carborator, yes...very effective; abt 30~40% fuel saving(tested). The same apply to old version of injection engine. There is very little effect on modern injection system. Eastar is equiped with Multi-Point-Fuel-Injection(MPFI) system and it is control by ECU, I don't see much effect with magnet. I applied few ring of such magnet in my Eastar, fuel consumption is normal; 19cents for long distance and 23~25cents for town drive. One thing for sure, my Eastar is very powerful and smooth.....maybe due to well maintaint and other reasons. No harm applying. RM100 for magnetic rings is a bit expansive liao. |

True! When the car park under the sun, we need to open the window a bit. It is good to have door visor and look nice also. Bad point is it generate wind noise at high speed bcos of turbulence. Cover the sunlight by visor also a good point but I think most of us already have tinted the whole car. Hence, black door visor or dark colored visor might block the view sometimes. There are pro & con for this, depend on personal preference. Cheers!

Beware of imitation! I fixed one for my previous car, no good and yet very expensive. Maybe immitation bcos 3M supposed to be top branded. I saw the advertisement on its technology recently, very impressive. But once beaten twice shy....dare not try again. I finally fixed V-Kool Secure for my Eastar. Choose one tat filter 99% UV and >96%IR.
Here is link to ppl discuss 3M http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/804594, check it out. Good luck! This post has been edited by smliu: Jul 16 2009, 06:01 PM |

Those photos are for reference only, there are lots of extra I have done; not all must follow. Some basic insulation is necessary to bring down the noise level effectively; they are
1) 8 holes under the chassis 2) side mirrow 3) two holes at the fire wall 4) spray foam at the front pillars(special technic) Once these 4 insulation done, the noise level will be reduced to a minimum. I was told all new Eastar at Chye Seng 3S center have gone through this 4 method of insulation. Please check with Mr Andy for further info. Apart from the above 4, the rest of the photos are for those who has special interest in Eastar DIY. Send PM to me if you need help. Remark: I did not engaged Chye Seng 3S Chery SC(I hv no right to do so) to do the insulation; but the basic insulation method has been shared and discussed with them. All photos are for reference only. |
