errkk you vet did not recommended FRONTLINE (spray/spot on)?  hmm.gif weird, from what i know almost all vet will recon this product when it comes to fleas and other parasites.

fleas is like the movie by leonardo di caprio - catch me if you can. fleas are hard to catch, and even escape from the cat body your you and your house. but it the end, they will die too.

there is only 1 cat flea.

i think what you trying to ask is "how many type of parasites on cat?".

Fleas, mites, lice, ticks, ringworm, etc.
*
Actually the vet gave me the shampoo is before my cat got fleas.
I'll get the Frontline later. So how to use it?
put which spot at my cat? how frequent use it in daily?
Normally how many days can see the effects?
after cure then still need to put frontline?like every month once for prevention??

You are consider lucky to get that price RM67 = 250ml.. i think the cheapest i heard RM65. i get mine RM70 dude.. so that is consider standard. Fuel, toll, and parking will cost more if i buy from pet safari. so i better just buy at the nearby petshop, different only RM3.
*
I just wonder how come the medical product for pets is pricey than human..
Ya. Pet safari stuff's pricing is quite reasonable... Btw, how much the Frontline for Spot type?
Thinking might get 1 bottle for prevention in future(as elf u mention early). I forgot to ask the vet just now...

maybe because not much demand on this product. not everybody have pets. so they have to sell it high, to gain $$. beside frontline is the best among the rest. you can get cheaper fleas spray, giant/tesco/carrefour has the cheap cheap one tongue.gif

Frontline Spray = to remove it now
Frontline spot on = for prevention.

buy both, if you have cash.

can't remember the spot on price, maybe around rm45-rm60 for 3 tubes.
*
Ok noted.
Just spray my cat and quarantine him in cage. And finished vacuum and mop the floor...very tired now..
hopefully later all fleas gone. biggrin.gif

when your cat recover from fleas, make sure he will be completely indoor. if you want him to be in and out door, you cannot skip fleas from coming. just use frontline spot before he go outside. hopefully that will help.
*
Actually my cat is completely indoor's cat. I just wonder how can this fleas come to him. What i suspect is recently got two stray cat come to my house. (I'm staying terrace house, they lepak in front car park) They even siting outside the door(mirror door), and do some territory marking and see my cat reaction. My cat of course angry and meow laughter here and there, and wanna jump outside, look like wanna get a big fight with them(i don't think my cat can win, coz the stray cats look like warrior... laugh.gif ) After that i found my cat got fleas... is not many, just few fleas (what i saw and catched, but dono they breed eggs or not), i'm also worry the fleas come back...
Btw, can i use the Frontline spray for prevention? since i have it now and thinking izit necessary only can use spot on for prevention?was thinking finished spray bottle 1st then only get the spot on... so can i do that?
So today is the 1st day to quarantine my cat. I only can release him after 3 days right? Then whats the next step should i do? Bath him.. clean the cage...? how often put the frontline for prevention? every month once? Please advise, Thanks!

Yea.. sometimes when your cat is admitted in the vet, they can also get fleas from other cat/dog.

Frontline spray if you want to kill the fleas hardcore way and immediately. the spray type is like mosquito spray., u spray, they die within few second.

Frontline spot on, is more like for prevention. it won't kill immediately. because u spot it on 1 place, and it took hours to start working properly. while, fleas may be already run away.

So, it is better to use SPRAY first, start world war III immediately, don't bomb alil bit with spot on, it will just be waste of money.

You can use spray type for prevention, but then, you cat will look like messy lah. oh well, you spray it on cat, your cat look like jatuh dalam longkang. that liquid will make your cat fur because like using hair wax/gel. so imagine if you preventing fleas using spray, and spray them every month. 12 months your cat look like going to make concert eheheh with hard on fur. rolleyes.gif

With spot on, you cannot see anything. because only spot at 1 small place on the neck. 1 tube will secure your cat for 1 month. after that, if needed, apply it again.

Don't finish up the whole bottle.. remember, when you dealing with fleas, it is not that easy. many people have to repeat over and over again.

So now, u already spray one time. keep the balance. then go buy spot one 1 pack (3 tubes inside).. put it on your cat after bath. and monitor after 1 months. if u see fleas again, start  spray, then spot on again.

--

U can bath your cat today or after 24-4 hours. with fleas shampoo better. again don't forget to clean the ears, and apply eat mites drops.. fleas are smart, they hide in ears too. dry your cat, and comb.

then apply spot on.

go to sleep and count the days till 30 ehehehehe... and check again  icon_rolleyes.gif

Oh... Thanks for ur advise elf..

Hi elf, update my cat's status. Few days ago i bring my cat to vet. The vet said is fungal. Vet gave me two weeks table medicine and anti fungal shampoo.. the vet said it might take time to recover and ask me come back after two week time. So hopefully everything is fine after this.. blush.gif
Beside, my cat fur was drop quite alot recently, just wondering is because of the fungal? Coz two weeks ago i just change his food (IAMS to SP), so still duno is because the food cause him fur drop or fungal issue...

did you ask the vet what kind of fungal infection?

as far as i concern, if the case involve skin, it should be ringworm.

the fur drop not because of the food...

by nature, ringworm fungal will drop down the fur.. and you started to see spot patches on the body, under the stomach, tail, private part.

Dermatophytosis (ringworm) is caused by fungal spores in the environment and typically develops on the skin as lesions. It is highly contagious and affects both dogs and cats. Common symptoms include red, raised, crusty skin and circular patches of dry skin with hair loss.

Proper care will make the cat recover faster. Like, keep giving the medicine (don't skip). and frequent bath with anti fungal shampoo (if im not mistaken 2/3 times a week). Some use cone collar to avoid cat licking the body (since ringworm will make the body itchy, cat will keep licking it until the fur drop and dry). And don't skip the vet appointment. If the vet ask you to come back after 2 weeks, then visit them. using tablet and shampoo is the first method. there are some other ways, but you need to complete it step by step, see witch one is suitable for the ringworm condition now. discuss more with your vet, sure they will help.

anyway, just google around cat ringworm. you will get alot of answers.

take care!

Yes. But they can't tell. Sound like no so professional, right? The vet just take some skin sample from my cat and check, then don tell me anything.( I also forgot to ask what kind of fungal infection sad.gif )
The vet told only need bath once in a week. But i bath him twice in a week..
Ya, already google cat ringworm.. too much info there... pening kepala la... anywhere just hopefully the medicine works...

last time my case, the vet let me look the skin under the microscope, and i can see moving things.

also checking for ringworm, vet will ultra blue (this thing look similar to check fake money)... vet will pun the blue bright light on the skin. if there is florescent blue, means ringworm is there.

that's how i get to know about ringworm although i'm not a vet LOL.
*
Yes. I think that should be the proper way to let the owner know their cat's problem. But this vet doesn't do that, plus i forgot to ask... sad.gif
Now my cat eat the the medicine 1 week already, just check the skin and found still same as previous. Means no getting better and worst. Just remain. I just take the bath for him. The fleas was gone. Just left skin problem now... Hopefully he can recover soon...

it took times to grow back the fur and recover the skin.

and you need to make sure your cat has ringworm only, or parasites allergy. some cats has this thing call parasites allergy, which means they are allergy to this small creatures like mites, fleas, lice, etc.  some allergy to food type. both of this, need to check via blood samples if your cat has any.

i'm pretty sure your cat will recover soon... bath frequently with the determines shampoo vet provided. if head cone is needed, put it all time. this is to prevent the cat from licking the fur. the more it lick, the longest period the fur to recover.
*
Thanks elf.. will update my cat status again..

tail, private part, and back of the 2 legs is the most favorite part for ringworm or any fungal...

you better bring to vet, for check up again.

if you have other cats, bring them too... because some cat will not show any fur drops although they bring the same symptom. if you only bring 1 cat, but not the other cat, the infection will never stop. it will keep continue.

how many times you clean your house, vacuum and mop the floor? you need to do this all the time.

btw, last time, my vet always have next appointment. didn't your vet tell you about the next visit for further check up?
*
i only have 1 cat (indoor).
Normally i clean my house at 1 week once to 2 week once ..(i know not enough, but too busy on my work...)
Yes. My next appointment is on this coming saturday. (After 2 weeks from my 1st visit)
One thing curious me is how come i already fully follow the instruction (like eat 1 tablet a day, take bath a week once with anti-fungal shampoo), the problem still there? is something wrong at my side to take care of my cat? hmm.gif

i wonder where is your location anyway?

weird vet, cannot tell what is the problem. you try the cream... if it is not working then you can go to other vet. sorry that you sound like pay so much money for different vet, and your cat is not cure yet. let me know your location, maybe people here can recommend you their vet. if you are in Cheras KL, go to Segar Vet. That's my cat's vet. and segar vet show me how to check ringworm under the blue laser light, show me how mites look like under microscope.

is your cat getting worst or better?
*
Im staying in PJ. Trying the cream now. Not getting worst.. just maintain the situation.. The heavy part is the tail.. the infection area like 20 cents coin's big.. shocking.gif
Now just keep putting the cream, mandi him & wait and see the result..
fyi, the vet put under microscope also can't tell what is that.. they din ask me to see... i think nothing found from there..
