looking forward for some screenshot such as:

haha , tests and waiting for my Windows Vista to arrive  smile.gif  want to see for myself if XP and Vista have any effects on the results.
yes, OS will affect the 3dmark06 score (XP vs vista).... just do it with ur winXP for 3dmark06....

while stressing it with ATItool + orthos and using HWmonitor to monitor the max temperature of ur CPU, GPU and chipset for long run stressing, the OS wont affect it i guess..

Ermm... overall,
Im not sure it a great laptop...i mean dont get me wrong here..the laptop look awesome and it hav an high graphic and wicked screen resolution ....but it not 4 gaming......i mean..yes u can play games wit those..but it just not made 4 a games purpose.. if u guys a hardcore gamers..u wont choose that laptop.....and cmon it still use old shot theme keyboard went it should be LED back light full keyboard..for god sake it dont event hav PLAY,STOP, PAUSE, SHOTCUT BUTTON.....and the pad only can fit 3 finger.. im sure i rather buy a new mouse than using that tiny pad...

so the question is y it hav great spec but it not 4 gaming or multimedia purpose?? is like insert an ferrari engine 2 a minicooper car...wthell... shakehead.gif

..but it a still awesome laptop...it just not the best... biggrin.gif
*
There are no "best laptop" or "perfect laptop" in the world... even the best of the best have slight weakness.... maybe have if u build it urself...... since the price is insanely cheap with killing spec, so have to give and take dude.... for touchpad, im pretty sure a gamer will get external mouse to use, so far haven't seen any gamer using touchpad to play graphic intense game such as far cry 2, crysis and etc....

for keyboard, backlit is good but it still common for 15.4" laptop which don't have backlit LED. If u are a professional keyboard user, u should have problem identifying the key in dark. Maybe u will press wrongly for 1st key but u will figure it out the 2nd key after the wrongly press 1st key. So far i've no problem for keyboard, since desktop keyboard too have no backlit, except for those gamers keyboard.

About multimedia key, i saw there are alot of function in F1 - F9, but im not sure izzit multimedia shortcut or not. But volume/mute button and ofcoz power button is most important 1, the rest is up to user to judge whether they really will utilize the multimedia button or not.

Conclusion, they price is cheap enuf to stop ppl from complaining about the spec already. Im pretty sure u CANT find any better prices from other brand such as Dell, HP, Asus and so on....

i already said it dont take it personally ..i  just say was i hav 2 say..

and i realy hope u answer all those question...
and awesome notebook btw...and...how long does the baterry life??

from all the post u have done in here, u are showing us that u are :-
- only go for branded thgs... (Sager = Bad... Alienware/Dell/Toshiba = Good.. even when sager has better performance and price doh.gif )
- rich ass spoiled kid... (which didn't consider price, only consider brand and feel.... but too bad u fail to be like 1 since u don't have Alienware)
- like to brag alot... (using 6k lappy for office use work (spreadsheet, powerpoint and etc) but eventually u don't have any of them whistling.gif)
- like to show off... (2nd yr MMU student, so wat?, MMU student still can be stupid as u might have proven to us shocking.gif )
- stubborn/defensive... (only listen to ur own but not others, even with explanation and the morale behind it)
- very pro *sarcasm*... (where u care touchpad size so much until as if u play Far Cry 2, Crysis and etc with touchpad notworthy.gif)
- have problem with keyboard... (maybe u need backlit keyboard to type, i don't know hmm.gif )
- out of topic... (u are the 1 who started the "2nd yr MMU student" first, who to blame? LOL, BACKFIRED!! blush.gif)
- take it personal... (u are the 1 who took it personal all the time bcoz u don't seems to stop counter all the post which oppose to u sad.gif )
- fail to comprehend... (fail to detect sarcasm and understand english)
- confuse ppl... (first u said TS lappy is not for gaming.. then u said u won't buy that lappy.. both are diff topic.. we don't concern whether u buy or not sweat.gif)
- shallow knowledge... (in hardware,u don't know how much this Sager NP8660 is better compared to ur fav m1730, only judge by its Cover doh.gif )
- talented as entertainer... (success to make 3 of my fren laugh like hell after read what u've posted.. good 4 u to hav 1 more career option)
- judge lappy by physical look/feel... (Ur bling/backlit keyboard/multimedia button is far more superior factor than its performance.... if u are mentioning about uncomfortable of using the lappy or what then it can be accepted, but bcoz bling and feel u give up performance and price blink.gif )

ops done too much.... no offence ya, but i know u won't take it personal, thats why i dare to mention so much whistling.gif ... and ya... im once again ya i know im off-topic.. it can't be help

- 4gb of ram is a good choice for better gaming experience... but his DDR3 isn't cheap at all and he need to replace both SODIMM into 2x2gb DDR3 and sell off his 2x1gb DDR3... kinda hard to deal DDR3 around...

- 7200RPM is good for faster loading.... IMO it will be still okay with 5400RPM if u have at least 4gb of ram.... ofcoz 5400RPM still will be slightly slower in loading time but won't make game shutter since most of the needed data are loaded in memory already while loading... heavy shutter in game occur when there isnt enuf ram and need to access to the slower HDD for data...

- turbo memory is the additional stick of memory which diff from ram rite?? i've told by my Dell Customer Service Representative that the turbo memory doesn't really make significant impact as u may have seen the advertisement or watsoever from net.. He said more ordinary ram will do the job well and he dont recommend me to purchase it coz it is slightly expensive and kinda still rare in malaysia.... thats for ITM only but im not sure ITM2..

correct me if im wrong...

@corad..... where is ur 3dmark06 score???? i expect more than 12.5k at least thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

17 inches is too bulky for me so I went for the smaller 15.4. All the chasis of the np8660 are the same regardless of the screen resolution or specs inside.

Intel Turbo Memory only works on Vista and it dosen't give much of a performance boost. (and it's expensive too since it's actually just flash memory tongue.gif ). I'm planning to upgrade the RAM's on my own later (cheaper laugh.gif ) and the new large capacity hard disks(anything above 320GB) have the same read/write speed even tho they are rated 7200 or 5400RPM  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
erm i think 7200RPM will be slightly faster compared to 5400rpm... else there isnt any point for it to be still exist...... anyway what manufacturer HDD u have in ur lappy??

@aral3005

Im confused with what u mean by ITM2 2gb vs 4gb. what i know is they are the diff module compared to memory(ram, SODIMM)??, a link to turbo memory is herehttp://www.intel.com/design/flash/nand/tur...ory/index.htm... ..... they are nth related to our normal computer memory which known as "ram"....... what i meant before is 2gb of ram vs 4gb of ram... and i fail to find about ITM2, do they really exist??... i only can find ITM only...

QUOTE(Noblez @ Oct 31 2008, 12:34 AM)
Ok, I'm a very newbie at laptops and stuff (Actually, I wanted to buy my first laptop this Dec during the PC Fair but I keep hearing that PC Fair quality is not good and stuff like that?) ... But ok... Sager NP8660, consider that it has no warranty and from what I checked, it starts at $1682 and after upgrading to your specs... (well... mine includes the Vista Premium, tho I want to 32-bit), it went up to $2299 without discount, can we compare it to the dv5 from HP?

Coz was planning to buy that dv5 (can you guys recommend a model, so far I only have here is dv5-1039TX ~RM5999 tho US has the dv5t or sumthin).
Well, actually, mine is not for overclocking(I dun even know what that REALLY means) and hardcore games like Crysis, but I do play the occasional C&C RTS (tho, now, I'm just interested in Red Alert 3 and I like to set graphics to medium at least) but its just for casual gaming- stress relief. Is it worth it, coz it'll b a first laptop and the dv5 sound good enuf already plus it has some warranty that my folks will b better off knowing (the whole safe than sorry)  Coz its really my first time for a laptop and its not really purposefully FOR gaming, just casual... More for portability and surfing net and reliablility. I have a desktop for that (Gaming concentrate, tho not really like you guys)...

What is your (all) opinions?
Thx in advance, and if I made an off-topic reply, pls do tell me, coz I'm not really that well versed with forums and stuff (only recently been active)...

PS. if you dun mind, is PC Fair a good place to buy laptops/computers? And will they introduce new things to us? Jus thought I'd take a shot and ask...
*
im not sure about HP, but in my experience, dont buy Dell from PCfair coz they are not directly from dell. They are a retailer. Whats the diff for direct dell vs retailer is that Dell have this 14days unsatisfactory full refund policy but retailer dont have such thg. so if u are not happy within 14days, u cant return back if u buy from the retailer, but u can return back to dell and either get ur money back from dell or credit transfer to other model u choose from dell.

for hp laptop, they are quite expensive IMO compared to other brand such as Dell, toshiba and etc in term of same spec. I compare my XPS with my fren HP (i dont what model is that). She bought it 5.2k only with 2ghz CPU + 14.1" LCD + 2gb ram + 8400gs only while mine is 4.6k for 2.4ghz + 4gb ram + 15.4" LCD + 8600M GT DDR3. But the HP finishing quality is pretty good compared to my dell.

If u go for highly portability, i suggest u to get 14.1" if u dont mind its being smaller. IMO 15.4" is also kinda big to bring out to those places such as starbucks, coffee bean and more... not bcoz of the weight but its bcoz of the size... 14.1" will be better in portability while 15.4" is okay too if u want the bigger screen.. its up to ur own preferences also in the end.

At rm6k u can get this TS sager for rm6.1k if u don't mind some of the weaknesses such as branding and physical outlook... and its a super gaming laptop FYI.... even better than those 7.7k Dell XPS M1730 gaming laptop... but the warranty is the let down on this sager since it is not in malaysia. u are spending abit too much for a non-gaming/minimum system. If u only want it for portability + office work then 3k should be good enuf... and u can keep that 3k for another future purchase....
