hi all~
I am actually looking for 8150 and 8170 too
it seem like 8150 is rubberized design and 8170 is metal surface design?
which is better? coz the price are quite similar to each other..

If you have the money to spare, then yes.

But to me, even the lowest grade Sandy Bridge is able to outperform the i7 by a lot.
The designs of both are good, and durable. But you can't ONLY compare from the design itself; what do you want for your needs is the question you need to ask yourself.

Things like, do I need two/three hard disks? Do I prefer a 17" screen than a 15.6" screen?

However, in terms of temperatures, the 8170 would be superior due to its metal casing. It will definitely absorb the heat build up.

And on a side note, my current NP8690 will say its goodbyes... sad.gif to a new owner

8170 looks great in metal casing design
at first I was looking at 8150, but since the price different is not much, I'd rather go for a better screen size laptop XD
but juz add on slightly weight from 8150's 6.1lbs to 8170's 8.3lbs

Intel Series 6 Chipset (Sandy Bridge) Recall Information

Sager and Clevo have consulted together and have decided that both Sager and Clevo will halt all pending shipments of Intel 6 series chipset systems. Models include Sager NP5160, NP5170, NP8130, NP8150, NP8170. (Clevo: W150HNQ, W170HN, P150HM, P151HM1, P170HM).

The current schedule is that starting in the middle of Feb 2011, Intel will start supplying qualification samples of the new revision of Intel 6 series chipset to Clevo. Clevo RD and QC will make it their first priority to test and qualify this new chip revision and prepare for mass production.

Currently the mass production version of the revised 6 series is scheduled to begin delivery from Intel to Clevo in limited quantities at the end of Feb 2011. We estimate that we will resume limited quantity shipment of Sager models NP8130, NP8150, and NP8170 in the middle of March 2011 and limited quantity of NP5160, NP5170 models at the end of March to the beginning of April 2011. Stabilization of shipment for all models should occur by the end of April 2011.
