Hi SeiAyashi,

Glad to hear that Asiasoft is having a local Malaysian WoW Event.

I hope that the event would be a success and that it goes smoothly. The WoW Lyn Community has been hearing a lot of "mud and flowers" slinging between WoW Players going to AutoSurf Cyber Cafe to play their games and ex-workers there. It could just be some isolated reports but some folks are now having concerns that going to AutoSurf means the possibility of being beaten up.

I'm not out to find out whether the stories are through or not. But as the Main Organizer of this event, I hope that you and AutoSurf would make this party safe and at least ensure that any WoW player that shows up does not come to intentional harm. Knowing gamers have short fuses and all, tempers will be short during this event. And since majority of the players will be students, there may be clashes.

Event Planning is not a simple promotional gimmick to boost product sales. One now has to take into account what happens to the customers during the event and their safety.

Disclaimer : I'm not going to the party as I'm in Sarawak. But I do have friends going to the event and I hope that the stories about AutoSurf are just isolated cases and that there would not be any incident during the event. Stigmas shouldn't be attached to a Cybercafe or a great MMO game like WoW.

hey myremi, I am also a Kuching Sarawak player, any places in Kuching that are WoW conducive? I have another friend also who plays WoW with me and I'm sure there are many more of us lurker Kuching players. Would be awesome if we could have our own WoW gathering as well.

I don't know the cybercafes in Kuching well. Just think that they're not that safe to play WoW but I have seen a cybercafe in Bintulu that has WoW Taiwan.

I personnally haven't been to autosurf before, but i've been reading up the drama about it. I may be attendig the event because i am interested in the prizes :] So i will reserve my judgement till then.

Actually, every cyber cafe are potentially as dangerous.

I saw many fights happened in cyber cafe before.

During Counter-strike era, people fight for small incidents. Even there is one time during competition, a member get whack by him own teammate (dunno the reason la, i am one the spectator).

During DOTA era, people fight when they get "lansi". What a side event . . haha.

Yeah, even i got cheated by Silversurfer cashier before. The idiot charged me a full hour for half hour usage. After that never go back that place again. Well that cyber cafe is gone now.

Not sure if i remember correctly, i think all the CC in subang are equipped with CCTV. Well if any bad incident do occur, go "report police" and use the CCTV recording as proof.

Auto's owner told me that I won't have to pre-order, as he will be opening sales on 14th November itself, but as the contest goes, I need a pre order card to win the first horde player to register?

Also, I'm curious as to how the contest organizers are gonna verify if the owner of the account is legitimate or not? I've been using my current WoW account for close to 3 years and seriously, if they're gonna ask for the box and stuff, I think I lost mine when I moved houses, or when I kena flash flood last time.

Another thing that seriously needs to be looked into. People on the forum reported that when logging into the venue cybercafe, people experience their accounts being temporarily locked for abuse prevention.

Any clarification on this matter ? Don't feel like logging into other peoples pcs, then when i go home and play the problem will follow me as well :/

During launch day, is the Limited Edition Wotlk available for sale??

Hrm my friend JUST purchased a new account today , and within a few minutes of registering and playing at autosurf he got banned .. now apparently this isn't an isolated incident , and it's already been going on for a couple of years . Now , I've heard that Autosurf uses a proxy that runs through China , leading to these bans , but I'm not too sure . I realise that this ban mostly hits new accounts , but it's been known to hit a couple of existing ones as stated before . No offense but , in light of this , do you really think Autosurf would be the best place for running an event like this ?

I second this as well. It's not really enticing to log on to other pc if this problem occurs. Any solutions ?

The problem has been fixed la, i've played my WoW account for the past 3years there and we used to even have a guild with more than 40members playing there and it didn't happen. And for your info, i just played my WoW and Warhammer there 2days ago...

Actually previously there was this problem I heard, but Autosurf management contacted Asiasoft and everything is resolves with Bliz...I dun think its an issue anymore

No offense boss , but my friend just kena today . Just registered , doing lvl 1 BE quest , killed couple of mobs then got booted out followed by suspension e-mail . And I have friends who kena there as well over the past couple of years , and some who haven't . Like I said , I'm not sure about the criteria of this bans , some of the people who played there everyday were ok , where else some of them who just go there once in awhile also terkena . Don't get me wrong , I have nothing against Autosurf , but don't you think it would be bad press for the organizers and Autosurf itself if someone happened to be banned during the event ?

they track by IP and domain if Im not mistaken.

I remember last time when I was banned I spoke to the blizzard rep, they told me that if they spot a sudden change of drastic IP that go through some real suspicious proxy, they will impose a ban.

They also mentioned that if you want to play it not using your own home connection ( or regular connection use/same ISP)

you played your account there for the past 3 years but we hav not so our ip would be diff and from the times where i used to camp at autosurf there was 1 cashier always change the ip to some diff one for me to play wow the ping drops like crazy, its like ip connection from sg for 3 years suddently change to china or vietnam they will suspect you renting your account or sold your account, and yes you can rent your account to pwrlvlers they will pay in gold HUGE sums of gold. but nice event and if i want CE where can i get it/pre order it frm?

Actually, these account suspensions are done by automated systems, not by a random GM clicking the 'ban player' box next to your name... This system has already been in place since Classic WoW beta I think. Basically, if you're mid way playing, and someone else logs in your account from another country, the account 'might' get suspended, if you and the other person are doing a 'tug of war' by logging in the account, then chances to get suspended are higher...

Also, this system might have been used on blacklisted IPs, to suspend accounts on random times etc...

If you're really careful with account usage etc, there's alot of loopholes for this system you can avoid. Not counting the blacklisted IPs' random bans of course... I helped a friend from australia grind pvp rank 14 2 years ago.

coolduck the reason why your a/c didnt get banned was because your IP has always been from autosurf. Obviusly you have no head or tails why blizzard bans or suspends wow a/cs. When there is a sudden change in your normal IP range, they will immediately suspend your a/c for 24 hrs for your a/c safety.

Please don't say it won't and does not happen in autosurf anymore. This is not an isolated case. If you play from home a lot i suggest you do not log in at autosurf (or any cafe) that day unless u are willing to get ur a/c suspended for 1 day. This is exactly what happenned to my a/c when i logged in last week (YES THIS HAPPENED LAST WEEK) at autosurf. I logged in for like 5 mins then immediately got disconnected and was unable to log in anymore until the next day at the same time. I do not place any blame on autosurf as i believe it is a built in security net to saveguard your a/c. I am actually relieved that there is such a safety. Im sure a lot of gamers would not enjoy getting their a/c hacked.

If you play at autosurf often enough then by all means your a/c should be no problem. But dun simply say its safe to log on at any place when you do not understand the security workings of the game. And I believe only a representative from Autosurf management has the right to issue any statement regarding the safety of their premises both on game and off game.

Off course dun worry so much, when its not ur a/c why care. Lol such an irresponsible statement. Can u imagine all the homegamers logging in that day only to get suspended for 24hrs, not being able to start lvling to lvl 80 on their new expac, WILL YOU mr coolduck be responsible for all those gamers that day? I can smell a biased opinion and i will not hesitate to shoot it down.

This thread is degenerating to a bit of a chicken and egg squabble.

I would strongly suggest to the readers here any question regarding the banning of accounts be raised to Blizzard and AutoSurf directly and not to involve AsiaSoft since AsiaSoft is only organizing the event and has nothing to do whatsoever to do with the banning of your accounts.

Also, posting about banning of accounts is a bit tiresome if your intention is to blackmark AutoSurf. You should instead take it up directly with them and Blizzard to resolve it instead of wasting energy and our reading time just for fame or rant about your grievences. If you are not sure how to go about it, can ask for help here but if you're out just to make noise or make AutoSurf or AsiaSoft look bad so that ppl avoid the event, waste of time. Less QQ please.

Disclaimer : I do not work for AsiaSoft but I'm getting tired of all the mud slinging towards AutoSurf cybercafe. If you got an issue with it, lodge a formal complaint with them. If it can't be resolved, escalate it to the authorities.

Correct me if I'm wrong , but the thread title does say WOTLK fiesta activities does it not ? I don't see the harm in letting people know the risk they are taking by participating , and also the risk the organizers are taking by hosting it there . Or would you prefer to see 10 brand new QQ threads/posts the next day about being banned just because they weren't aware of the problem ?

The bans : To fix situation now, the onus is still on the account owner to contact AutoSurf and Blizzard for clarification.

What can we, the LYN Forum readers, do here for them? We can't do much. Give advice but if the victim doesn't want to reveal much information of what happen and focuses his entire post on QQ-ing about a cybercafe, it's a waste of forum space. Our advice can only do so much.

If the victim genuinely doesn't know how to proceed, you can see in the post that he really is seeking for help. Yes, he's upset about the service but at the same time, he is also seeking another person's advice.

Spreading the bad service in LYN and indirect hoping that Autosurf either :
-improves their service : better to speak to them directly. Strangers here would not help you. If they do, it's one of those rare days with silver lining in the sky. Good for you but could be just pure luck.
-they are closed down due to bad publicity : This is a bit of a joke, tbh, if you think that posting in WoW LYN Forums would help. It only works if you get into the main page of LYN. Kopitiam wouldn't be effectively either. Or unless you have a blog with huge readership and you've an established creditability, then maybe...

Yes, we all know this is a Marketing Gimmick to boost WoTLK sales but it would be boosted anyway, without this party. When TBC was launched, there were already shortages everywhere in Malaysia and this went on for a few weeks before new stock could come. Hell, there was worldwide shortage.

Although, I can think of one way to resolve all this hoo-haa about whether it's safe to play at Autosurf during WoTLK launch. But there is a possibility that the party will not take place if AsiaSoft or AutoSurf decided to cancel because a number of players decided to go for this solution.

The solution : Contact Blizz directly for clarification whether AutoSurf is a safe place to play WoW but you'll need the AutoSurf IP. Explain to them the event that is taking place during WoTLK launch date. That is probably the best solution so far. Blizz ban, Blizz can clarify and it's independant from AutoSurf and AsiaSoft. It might not be the answer you're expecting but it's an honest answer.

The other solution : Buy a computer and play at home. Pay with installments.

OR they could move the event to another venue , plenty of time / choices available . I believe the problem has already been stated above . If you think that we are spreading this 'bad service' for the reasons you stated , don't you think we would have done so in another thread and started long ago ? The fact that we are posting this here is so that :-
1)People get to choose whether winning a t-shirt is worth getting banned for .
2)Organizers know what they are getting into , and decide a change of venue in a safer place . I won't say risk-free , but at least a place whereby people don't FREQUENTLY get hit by random bans .

Yeah a frequent change of IP does get your account banned, i know that but i dun believe it only happen in autosurf 1 cafe alone. Most of u guys says that u guys only logged in at home or 1 place to
make sure that it is safe then if the event if shifted to another C/C what different does it make? and erm I'm staying away from subang and i do plays at home too and my cousin has a character in my account which he plays in Nilai sometimes (his own character in a different server) so...hmm whats the point here?

You seem to be defending blindly now . Take a step back and re-read the posts . And yes , playing in a CC is definitely not risk-free , but Autosurf seems to be the most consistent CC for people to get banned / hacked / suspended .
Even if the venue is 100% set , at least the people who are attending the event who have actually read this thread know what they are getting into .

and there's 4 rl friends of mine got their accs banned after they play in autosurf, some happened in last year and they even borrowed fax machine from autosurf to fax blizzard their details

i really don't believe the frequent change of ip will lead to any ban, you gave the example of sharing acc between nilai and subang but some of my guildmates shared their acc to england, aus, nz, sg but blizzard didn't ban them
and what's the story about the proxy? will this lead to the bans? i see peoples downloading and streaming chinese dramas in autosurf

Banning for frequent IP change
Blizz has mentioned that they use a bot program to do this. But even with frequent IP change, they don't ban. I'm one of those people who have played in different states in Malaysia, in different countries in Germany, Denmark, England and US without notifying Blizzard. This is for a couple of years now. No ban. How Blizz configures their bot to ban others while others are not ban, we don't know the criterias well. But we do know that they do use a software named "Warden" inbuilt into the game to watch everyone. What data is gathered and processed, we don't know that well.

Ban from playing in AutoSurf
Yes, AutoSurf has been mentioned many times in the forums compared to other CC. Why? Probably because those players know about LYN and are frustrated. They may or may not have inform the owners of AutoSurf. Maybe AutoSurf staff didn't forward the concerns to the owner. Whether these players did anything else besides playing the game on the computer is anybody's guess.

Changing of the Venue
May be difficult because of the coordination works that needs to be done. There's not much time (less than 3 weeks till WoTLK launches) to even change venue to prepare it. Still, it's up to AsiaSoft to decide what to do next. As for AutoSurf, what can they do other than work with AsiaSoft and Blizzard to unban the accounts.

Other Cybercafes won't be safe either. Unless AutoSurf wants to set up PCs in another location totally separate from Cybercafes and work from there. A lot of logistics effort.

Let AsiaSoft decide although I doubt they will be able to find another location for this. Having said that, it would be good if AutoSurf can respond but so far, they've been very quiet.

Will it be safe to play on the day of the launch at the WoTLK Fiesta Gathering in AutoSurf?
Chicken and egg. There is already a response from AsiaSofft about it and they have spoken to AutoSurf. They've also said that they hope the players themselves are able to control their cool.

They could do one thing but I'm not sure whether they want to. Getting an event license from the police but since the event is not in a public venue (and a lot of hassle to get), they may not want to. Or arrange for a few "bouncers" to help watch things.

Should people go to the WoTLK Fiesta Gathering?
It's up to them whether they want to or not. Probably a lot will go to get the game but not play unless they want to win the cool prizes. Or AsiaSoft changes the way the contest is run. Whether it's even possible to play WoTLK well on launch day is a big question as well. Launch days and huge patch days are usually bad days to play. There's lag, graphic issues, etc. to be resolve. Blizz themselves may not be able to respond fast to queries both in-game, hotline, emails.

Making Noise
Tell Blizz your concerns. Although they do take care of their players well, compared to other MMOs, the speed of response may not be that great. The bulk of Malaysian players wouln't be playing from cybercafes but from their homes. Since we get mentioned in their Press Releases on the # of players, it's likely to be a few hundred thousand players from Malaysia alone. Not enough cybercafes around the country to handle that many players.

To make noise, goto Blizz either through their hotline, emails or forums. Actually, the WoW forums would be a good idea but with ban accounts, not sure whether they can post their concerns up on the forums unless their friends can do it for them.

Normally if IP changes happen after a 12hour break, the IP wont get flagged. Travel time factor.

Blindly? How about Autosurf getting accused blindly? And I've said i'm not defending, I'm just saying things as a 3rd party. I don't side auto nor purposely coming in to flame.

Ive got a few questions, was wondering if someone wouldn't mind helping me with.



- Pre-Ordering, can it be done without the use of a Credit card ? perhaps on cash on Delivery or Pickup maybe ?

- Is there a limit to how many copies can be pre-ordered ? When TBC hit the companies screwed over many ppl i knew because they only got 1 copy per person instead of the amounts they ordered ( this was in the US )

- WotLK Gathering - Can anyone attend ? or is it only for people who have pre-ordered ? also is there a way to proove that u pre-orderd ? im gonna run down to Mega Mall at 10 am and pickup my copies of the Lich and roaming around with the box is kinda stupid :\

- Where is this Autosurf Cyber Cafe ? apart from the address are there any land marks nearby ? a McDonalds or a KFC or something ?

- In order to win the prizes and or the free stuff, do you have to play at Autosurf or just showup ? I usually dont logon from Cyber cafes and after readin through all this, im DEFINATELY not loggin on, small risk or big, i dont want to risk loosing 4 years of work :\

- They are charging RM 168 - which converts to roughly 48 USD, allthough the game itself is only 40 USD, why is this ? authorized distributors, i thought were not allowed todo this. Or is Asiasoft just a company whos buying a buncha copies and bringing them here ?

*If there's one thing I notice about Blizzard, is that they have a tendency to be in control a lot and not seek help from professional logistic consultants or companies when it comes to things outside of Game Development. THis includes game distribution. Hopefully, they can tap into Activision's experience but even then, it's not going to be easy to supply the few million players playing the US version. Currently, I think no limit with online Malaysian merchants but don't take my word for it. Better check with them.

*The advertised amount in USD is not the final amount. There's different Goods Sales Tax (GST) in each state of the US. It ranges from 10% to 20% for games, I think. You don't see the final figure until you go through the process of placing the order. Imported games into Malaysia can get 10% sales tax and 10% electronic gadget + software tax, based on my ordering experience with play-asia.com.

Anyone can attend the WOTLK gathering party. But only pre order people can participate in the activities carried out. Our event starts at 11 am onwards… after collecting Lich King at Mega Mall, you should head straight to the event venue. Be the first alliance / horde to register to win the T Shirt.

We are authorized distributor by Blizzard Entertainment. We are advised by Blizzard to sell it at USD 48 and please take note, Blizzard Press Release mentioning the price and release date solely for US citizens only.

Is there any way to calm down the venue issue, as the thread is mostly regarding about Autosurf. L

AutoSurf management is taking full responsibility, they are willing to ensure the PCs are free from key loggers and all participants’ safety. AsiaSoft crews will also play their part to ensure smooth and 110% safety level. We will run an inspection in all PCs before allowing participants to logon.

Hope this could clear up a lot of questions for you guys

Suggestion: Do up a map. Why? Cause Taylors, and so many other locations, are opposite Asia Cafe too... but just from different directions

LOL none of my posts if you read them correctly we on a personal basis to attack autosurf in any way. I did mention that to log on in any other CC of which you are unable to certify the security measures in place is risky business.

However one positive outcome has come from most of us who apparently were accused of QQing over a cybercafe as a venue. Mainly i wanted to see that the organiser (Seiayashi) understood and knew the problems some of us had faced with the venue. The post above by Seiayashi is very satisfactory to me and i hope the event will be a success.

Hang on, you just listed a retailer that is also buying and selling WoW Gold which is against the Terms and Conditions of Blizzard's TOA. Is that ethical of AsiaSoft and just conflicting against Blizzard's TOA? Or is this a case where Blizzard and AsiaSoft cares only for profit?

no myremi blizzard and aisasoft only care to cater your need who said they think about profit they are only using offgamers because its a much "visited" gaming website.

Getting very tired of these damn supply issues whenever the expansion rolls out. This is the 2nd time a WoW expansion has rolled out and just saying sorry doesn't quite cut it.

If AsiaSoft can't put together a simple free gift for early birds, then don't put it up. I'd be happy with just the game if there was no freebies but since it was advertised as such, where is it? And saying that why stocks last just don't cut it.
