i'm totally agree on this statement, and so far i've only seen LYN iphone section having this problem. international forums, even the singapore forums like hardwarezone (hell even the normal phone discussion section here) don't have such problem, members are more friendly and they'll kindly ask you to search the thread, of simply provide answer.

You can go to this site to learn to jailbreak (unlock) iPhone. Note that this is for the 2G iPhone. Upgrade to firmware 2.1 first using iTunes 8.0 & above.
There are still some problems with 3G iPhone and the unlocking is more complicated.

It is not illegal and there are many applications that can be downloaded from Cydia & Installer (both are like Applestore.
