kabu,the voltage reporting from your mobo is damn high. sweat.gif I o/c my 2.8C stable around your speed too with default vcore 1.525v. Super PI wise is about the same with you too! thumbup.gif Nice o/c job done.

Max u can go with ya 2.8C is 3.4Gh? Hm.. Sounds abit low as usually low spd proc can be push higher. But then, ya mobo is having problem. I think the result is better then dont have liao.

P/s: Ada cium ur proc? brows.gif
*
@fylon,that is on default vcore only. To reach 3.5GHz need to rasie up the vcore a bit. brows.gif

@edmin,i will see how is it going first.Next machine on Dell might be considered,i prefer HP more than Dell now.

@fylon,1:1 on edmin's machine will not break 15s on Super PI 1M,he will need more juice to achieve lower run time.

A low ebd celeron dual core will be slightly better than your 2.26GHz P4. Well,i think not really a good move from P4 to Celeron. Your rig is use for net surfing and downloading?

Yeah, basic net surfing and watching online video streaming, can said 60% of the pc usage is on watching online video..
But if I go for Pentium Dual Core, the proc itself will be around RM220+ already, cannot fits my budget......
Yeah, previously I'm on Celeron before change the proc to Pentium 4 just last year end, immediately can feel the huge differences
But now the current celeron Dual-Core is better, I saw somebody's celeron E1400 OC to 3.0GHz, Fritz chess benchmark score 3734, while my P4 is score only around 800+
Refer the chinese forum below for the score....
http://cforum3.cari.com.my/viewthread.php?...&extra=page%3D2
How? Please advice on the proc, mobo, and RAM combination. my budget range is rm300-400. I don't care if it's a AMD, as long it's a 2 core will do.....
*
Here's my benchmark on the Fritz Chess. I got 1481 with my P4.A real dual core of course can perform better on this.Watching online video streaming can utilize CPU up to 60%,that's quite high.

my p4 rig is finally retired. it served me well for >5years. wink.gif now mobo+gc+ram is lying around.

thinking of letting them go soon. Items to be let go:
p4p800x(cmos reset prob, sata got some issue)
2.8c northwood 800fsb HT L2 512k
2.4A prescott 533fsb L2 1mb
galaxy 7600GS ddr3@1600mhz(on par with 76gt) + zalman fatal1ty FS-V7 vga cooler thumbup.gif from Edmin. brows.gif
2 x kingmax ddr400 512mb ram

@voscar
at 300-400 will be quite limits your choice. unless you look for 2nd hand stuffs. new cpu can easy eat half of your budget. same case for new mobo. top up till 500 will be nicer. <400 is very tough.

my estimation:
cpu=200+
mobo with built-in vga=200+-
ram=<100(2gb)

at 500 budget you can some room to breath. maybe can grab more ram. wink.gif 1gb wont last you long.

what's up with your rig?Suddenly can't play game already?I thought u have just got the GC from edmin?

Old school until today just jsut sustain for light gaming,net surfing and bting only.Other harder applications are really slow.With entry level dual core can tapao the high end P4 rig anytime.Step to shift to dark is a right choice.

Most of the Dell's PC are using blower to blow out the heat from CPU. Their blower is quite powerful when blast to full speed. brows.gif Damn noisy.

@kabu,C2D ya....Nice nice....Wish that ican have in future of 1 day.

Today our post is giving the rating earn and rating given.What's that related with?

@jcsy,

it is most likely due to after sales service/warranty and pricing.

My company uses their laptops and desktop before,right now change to HP already as they said Dell's after sales service is very expensive.

P/s: Just upgraded to Quaddie now. brows.gif Ada shiok!

@mav910623, don't put high hope on the VIA chipset. If temp to o/c from 2.4GHz to 3GHz afraid is kinda hard for you. sweat.gif Your chipset comes with integrated graphic?
