finally after took out everything and plug back my 2.8c it start to get back normal again. try push to max just now... cant make it to 3.5Ghz, max the vcore also cant help.

Max u can go with ya 2.8C is 3.4Gh? Hm.. Sounds abit low as usually low spd proc can be push higher. But then, ya mobo is having problem. I think the result is better then dont have liao.

yeah, pentium d had the same heat issues that prescott cores have too

btw, i just got a old dell p4 cpu from my friend. tested it, seems to boot up but no display. tried with my lcd and crt, both came up with no signals. most probably IGP on the mobo kong? it doesnt even have a AGP slot

Yeah, basic net surfing and watching online video streaming, can said 60% of the pc usage is on watching online video..
But if I go for Pentium Dual Core, the proc itself will be around RM220+ already, cannot fits my budget......
Yeah, previously I'm on Celeron before change the proc to Pentium 4 just last year end, immediately can feel the huge differences
But now the current celeron Dual-Core is better, I saw somebody's celeron E1400 OC to 3.0GHz, Fritz chess benchmark score 3734, while my P4 is score only around 800+

How? Please advice on the proc, mobo, and RAM combination. my budget range is rm300-400. I don't care if it's a AMD, as long it's a 2 core will do.....

my p4 rig is finally retired. it served me well for >5years. now mobo+gc+ram is lying around.

thinking of letting them go soon. Items to be let go:
p4p800x(cmos reset prob, sata got some issue)
2.8c northwood 800fsb HT L2 512k
2.4A prescott 533fsb L2 1mb
galaxy 7600GS ddr3@1600mhz(on par with 76gt) + zalman fatal1ty FS-V7 vga cooler from Edmin.
2 x kingmax ddr400 512mb ram

at 300-400 will be quite limits your choice. unless you look for 2nd hand stuffs. new cpu can easy eat half of your budget. same case for new mobo. top up till 500 will be nicer. <400 is very tough.

my estimation:
cpu=200+
mobo with built-in vga=200+-
ram=<100(2gb)

at 500 budget you can some room to breath. maybe can grab more ram. 1gb wont last you long.

thats why i can survive with it as long as all things i wanna run can work smoothly, i wont ask for more. hehe...

now no complain. but not gonna stress it before i get my lga775 retention kit for my xp120. oc spirit coming back soon.

Eh? Now turn into cooling discussion? Haha.. Dell desktop, usually goes like BTX setup, but the CPU is like place infront of the case type. Just open one recently for some cleaning job.
